The key is to choose the right moment to engage.

Well-used Hellspawn can punch far above its weight.

Its an okay SRM brawler. I either do really well and rack up 600ish damage, or I get torn to shreds.

No, you have got that wrong.

It should be: "Other 'Mechs are nothing but the cannon fodder for the Hellspawn." Posted Image

Great game on Viridan Bog.

Four kills and the second highest Match Score after that Daishi.

I do not understand why some people say that the Hellspawn is awful ...

The Hellspawn is a great 'Mech.

Just try it and I am sure that you will like it. Posted Image

Just curious, which one is better for SRM brawler?
a) Dervish Frenzy hero mech (up to 8x SRM hardpoints, JJ)
b ) Hellspawn 8P (5x SRM hardpoints, 2x energy hardpoints, JJ)

I would expect the Dervish Frenzy (paid hero mech) to be better, but am not familiar with either of the above...

Anyway - 5 x SRM6. hsn-8p - Done.

Don't be fooled - the Hellspawn is quite tanky.

So De-arm it?

:)

Both have their pros and cons:

"Frenzy" can be made more tankier, simply by the virtue of being 10 tons heavier. HSN-8P Hellspawn can carry less armor, but it is smaller and it can be more mobile, so many enemy hits that would hit better protected "Frenzy" would miss Hellspawn alltogether.

Essentially, both 'Mechs are better suited for different battlefield roles: Slower and more armored "Frenzy" is better suited for pure brawling, Hellspawn is better in "hit-and-run" tactics.

Both 'Mechs are good in what they do, and I can not say that one is "better" and the other one is "worse".

Almost forgot: "Frenzy" is a Hero 'Mech and thus it is better suited for earning . If you would like to earn similar income with the Hellspawn, you would have to buy "Paralyzer".

SRM30 is a bomb, problem is that the arms can be easily shot off.

I've packed:

- 5x SSRM-4
- 1x TAG
- 1x LPPC

Along with XL Engine, 2xJJ & TAG mostly to keep myself away from trouble, and more easier hunt the lights.

Hellspawn the glorified ****

Deverish do this better, in practice it does better than bushwhacker because it has jumpjets and shield arm.

Even if bushwhacker is good looking, not that practical since center profile is large without any shield arm.

What makes and break is that you have a missile boat with laser hardpoints and the Arctic wolf does it better without the mixed up hardpoints screwing up the cooldowns.

It was based on clan mechs and build by the inner sphere with the solely intention of replacing the ECM module with an intergrated ECM into the structure of the mech. This after the invention of the Raven with similar feature.

Hellspawn was known for one thing, it had no case protection and relying on mass production as the entire mech is a mech-kit of spare parts put together. General Motors made this mech and was supposed to replace the Deverish.

Exactly what role Hellspawn is playing, is a shotgun but that include pretty much every light mech that the Hellspawn is a medium mech playing the role of a light mech. It plays the role of a Raven but Raven end up obsolete quite quickly when ECM is available to many other mechs and the idea that Hellspawn is supposed to have ECM and doesn't gain the hardpoint makes the existence of the mech questionable.

What to expect when playing a Hellspawn? People shooting the bunny ears. Your bay door is relatively safe from harm since they are shooting the bunny ears. The mech itself has a side torso mounted at the center torso allowing spread damage to focus fire on the side torso faster. The center gun is mounted on the side torso while in the center torso, the side torso missile battery mounted in the arm making it able to be demolished by destroyed arm. It is mounted with jumpjets but relatively no need when using SRM, the spread out missile hardpoints makes the spreading increase of your shots and will need to be chain fired. MRM is slightly better for this since the increased range makes the shots tighten at optimal range. SRM spreads when shot at blank range. Most of the missile hardpoints is to make shots being launched from a higher angle that is only important for LRM since the shot need to travel above hills. It is not that great for rocket launchers like the bushwhacker since it has the hardpoints spreading outward.

Hellspawn is best played with MRM to make use of jump-jets , (if it is an option) to make a back jump while attacking, something you'd wouldn't be able to do with SRM at most encounters.or else you are stuck with LRM boating because of the spread out hardpoints. And since it is a Hellspawn with no ECM it is as well cannon food to any lrm boat. Even if SRM maybe look like a good option realize that the mech itself is spreading out the missiles and the hardpoints are options but with MRM you can pick where to have that option.

don't put MRMs on the free Hellspawn over SRMs. They're OK but 30 SRM6A alpha is A+

Agreed. If you want to MRM, there are some excellent choices in the Vindicator, Dervish, and Wolverine.

I sold it for space. I have enough missile mechs. Still looking for that perfect mech with a -50% er-ppc heat quirk. Can't be an er-ppc sniper when most of the match is spent waiting to cool down even with 20 in ops and 50 in fire power.

Grab a Thor and load it with one ERPPC in each nipple, then fill the rest of your tonnage with DHS. It can keep shooting for quite a while.
