Hello. I recently got into MWO from MW5.
For any future pack events (such as ongoing platinum pack), could you make events' requirements more newbie friendly?
I have my favorite mechs that I like to pilot. But with new mechs for the event, I am doing an average 100 damage per match, and this will take about 25 matches per mech to complete the event.
I don't get to play my favorite mechs during the event and I hate repetition as it take fun out of the game. I simply can not compete with other players who have been playing the game for years.
It will be nice if requirements are more newbie friendly. I will try out new mechs when I am ready.

This is off topic, but could you bring arena multiplayer mode (upto 4 players) for MW5?

They've said they're not getting further into multiplayer with MW5. It wasn't really written for it from the start. Would be a huge amount of work to refactor to the point that they'd be better off just making MW6 and including it then. (Which maybe they'll do, who knows. But don't count on it.)

Oh well, that is too bad. I think MW5 is a good game.

At least, if they could bring MWO events (especially for purchased packs) to newbie friendly level, it would be less stressful for newbies. I am beginning to lose interest because of this. Please let me complete events quickly, so that I can get back to piloting my favorite mechs before next event.

A warm welcome to MWO !

+1
My friend who just joined MWO also felt the same way; fighting with new semi-skilled mechs.
It is extremely difficult to reach this Feb 2022 Free Mech Event's requirements of 10,000 match score, do 5000/5000/5000 damage for Ballistic/Missile/Energy. It feels more like hundreds of trips to the dentist.

(Don't want to scare you, but MWO last year did one Event requiriing 40,000 match score.
After I personally complained on behalf of newcomers, MWO gave another Event requiring 40,000 damage.)
1. I would also ask MWO for more newcomer-friendly Monthly Free Mech Events (the "Event")!
For newcomer events, the hardest should be the same as this current Feb 2022 Event (10,000 match score, 5000/5000/5000 ballistic/missile/energy damage).

May I suggest that MWO ramp up the Damage & Match Score requirements in two bi-annual campaigns,
so as to help make difficulty easier for newcomers, and for newcomer players to get better at MWO over time.
ie:

Every January: Event require 5,000 match score, do 2500/2500/2500 damage for Ballistic/Missile/Energy.
<ramp this requirement incrementally up every month>
Every June: Event require 10,000 match score, do 5000/5000/5000 damage for Ballistic/Missile/Energy.

And then do a reset every June & December. ie:

Every July: Event require 5,000 match score, do 2500/2500/2500 damage for Ballistic/Missile/Energy.
<ramp this requirement incrementally up every month>
Every December: Event require 10,000 match score, do 5000/5000/5000 damage for Ballistic/Missile/Energy.

2. Current Feb 2022 Free Mech Event need 10,000 match score, do 5000/5000/5000 damage for Ballistic/Missile/Energy.

I feel your pain, Blue Marble, at 100 damage per game (estimate 100 match score per game): 100 to 150 games :(
Feels more like 100+ trips to the dentist :(

Did you buy the Platinum Collection and tried to do the related Event?
It's one of the hardest paid package Event ever in almost 2 years time
(Platinum Collection Event @ 2500 damage + 10 Kill/KMDD per mech).
Especially for the Light mech, I myself felt it was like repeated trips to a dentist.

Also, Platinum Collection did not give you any CBills to work with.
So it literally took me 4+ million CBills per mech in my IS Platinum Collection up to speed.
That's 16+ million CBills, which a newcomer very like does not have.

Previously paid Package Event:
~Do 1000 damage/mech, included millions of CBills for you to customize your mech weapons/equipment/engine.

Platinum Collection Event for this paid Package:
~Do 2500 damage/mech, no CBills for you to customize your mech weapons/equipment/engine.
~I personall felt that 10 Kills/KMDD for a Light mech is still rather high. Ended up doing suicide runs dealing damage on only one enemy and hope for a KMDD when enemy dies.

Perhaps you would be interested in giving this same feedback to the
Platinum Collection Event discussion thread also?

For MW5, the previous CEO Russ Bullock (not sure where he is nowadays) said that "it is not possible to add multiplayer into MW5" (ok, I paraphrased, but you get the idea).

So MW5 is only PvE (player vs computer).
So MWO is only PvP (player vs player).

LL2 is no longer developed as a Mod for MW5, but a standalone game.

Which events are you referring to Blue Marble, the free mech event or the one for the Platinum packs? The first can be done with any mech. Regarding the Platinum Pack event, we’ll, unless you really want the swag that comes with them, I wouldn’t worry about completing the match score/ damage challenges. In the long run, events that don’t require using a specific chassis/variant are a more efficient way of getting free stuff.

Good hunting,

OP mentioned he just got a paid mech pack, and that its related Event was "too hard".

I strongly suspect OP is referring to Platinum Collection 01, & the associated Platinum Event.
(I've previously refrained from commenting further, subject to OP's confirmation as to which paid mech pack he was referring to.)

May I paraphrase OP's concerns as below:

1) As a complete beginner to MWO with a CBills shortage, lack of CBills in this Platinum Collection does not help.
Platinum Collection should give 8-12 Million CBills to help player quickly customise 4x mech weapons/eqpt/engine layout.
I myself used 4+ Million CBills per mech in my IS Platinum Collection.
Pity the new MWO player with a CBills shortage, cannot afford CBills to customise Platinum mechs for the said Event.

This lack of virtual CBills really bother me; paid mech packs should have some CBills supplied for mech customisation!

2) Platinum Collection Event requiring 2500 5000 damage.
It's the hardest event to date for a paid mech pack Event (I've joined MWO almost 2 years ago).
Previous mech pack Events (Predator, Hunter, Warden, Stryker, etc.) required 1000 damage only.
Especially challenging if MWO newcomer had little or no CBills to customise Platinum mechs.

Anyways, awaiting for OP's confirmation as to which paid mech pack he was referring to.

Hi everyone. Thanks for your suggestions.
I liked appearance of platinum mechs, and I want to try out those mechs some time in the future. So I purchase both platinum packs (IS and Clan), before the pack event was released. Since I paid for the packs, I felt I need to complete the event to get better value for the money.

I started out with clan Jenner. After consistently doing less than 20 damages per match, I gave up on Jenner and moved on to clan hunchback (doing about 100 damages average per match). It is not looking good as it appears that I will be stuck with these mechs for a long time and it is making the game bored.

Completing free firestarter event was tolerable (although was not too happy) as I used my favorite mechs, doing about 200 damages per match. Asked others how to complete UAV stuff in-game (very helpful community), because I had no clue.

Sounds like you could use some advice on mech builds? If you do, feel free to make a new post in the New Player section. We would be happy to make suggestions. There is also the quick question/answer thread for...well, simple questions. If you have lengthier ones, like build or tactic suggestions, you should make a new thread in that section.

The Platinum event was right to reduce the dmg required from 5,000 down. But instead of 2.5k for each, would have been nice to do it per size class. Could have been 1k for the lights, 2k for mediums, etc.

I would personally propose Platinum Collection Event damage requirements maximum is:
a) Ideally 1000 damage per mech for all paid mech packs, including Platinum Collection Event.

b ) If MWO insist increasing Platinum Collection Event damage requirements, then:
1000 damage for Light
1500 damage for Medium
2000 damage for Heavy
2500 damage for Assault
(Especially for Light Jenners for both IS & Clan packs, it felt like repeated trips to the dentist for me personally!!!)
