Yeah, literally just saw your (very) recent video with DWF-UV + LRM105 (!),
right after starting this thread:

I see your point missile in CT of DWF-UV hence -2.5% heat, vs DWF-A which had -5% heat.

Personally I have never seen anyone with DWF-UV doing LRM (or BAS-E doing LRM for that matter),
but I see your above point is valid. (Hence my 4x DWF-A purchase just made!)

UV has a missile in the ct

A and Prime have nothing.

The cts with nothing have less value, therefore must be compensated with something.

gauss vomit (deathstrike does dat better

It does this a bit, but there is definitely something more satisfying with the DWF-Prime and the extra lasers/DPS you get compared to the Deathstrike. It has worse mounts and hitboxes but does stronger alphas/DPS and gets the bonus of having all weapons in the arms so you can get that verticality which does come in handy on some maps (rubellite comes to mind. There is some niche situations where it can be nicer but again, those are niche situations.

That or 8 ERLLs, or 2UAC10+3UAC5 (same thing minus 1 UAC5 on a BAS or MCII).

I mean this is kinda the same as the above (though 8 ERLL is dumb, you are better off with 2 Gauss and 4 ERLL), a lot of mechs do similar things with similar loadouts. However they all do it with lower overall damage output as I want to say the Whale can on average do 25-33% more DPS for similar loadouts (if I'm looking at things correct in MechDB).

Well seeing people are using the UV for 8 UAC2's, that 2.5 is really not that big of a deal. For one the mech already can fire non-stop for quite a long time. I was actually pretty shocked how long it lasted before i had to swap to my chain fire, hit a cool shot or just fall back and stop doing damage for a few seconds.

that said, i'm really thinking about swapping my Omni's over to my warden pack to keep my C-bill bonus on the UAC's but only because the other has ECM and i think a long range mech might be more usefull than my other which is a 2UAC10's+3UAC5's.. this one seams to run out of ammo more often so i think dropping the ECM and adding an extra ton ammo will work out a bit better.

I have not tried a Splat Dire with SRM6's+LBX but it seams like maybe that could work.. But man the Dakka dires are just so much fun. Has anyone ever played around with a SRM/LBX combo? I see ATM or LRM dires from time to time but they almost never do well outside of a match that basically anything would of done well. (opponents with no clue about cover)

If paid mechs are equal to free mechs, it's not pay-to-win, but if paid mechs are worse than free mechs, it means no revenue and stalled game development. I'll leave it to you to figure out of this is bad or not...

The UV is better on account of being the only DWF with 2xB arms, on account of having a CT missile hardpoint without being burdened by a Jump Jet there (which the only other variant with missile CT does) and on account of having the 30% hero C-Bill boost.

I used my UVs to build brawlers. That hardpoint is another 12 damage to your salvo, nothing to scoff at.

It's tight on ammo and requires shaving some armor, but a DWF built on UV CT can pack 4xSRM6+2xLB20X+UAC20. It's kind of slow, but anything that gets into its' optimal range is in for a whole new world of pain.

LOL how many UV do you see running a LRM build? It's worse on account of that CT, not better.

... bruh, reading comprehension. LRM DWFs are for chumps, you can build a sweet brawl DWF on that CT.

Use the slowest mech in the game as a brawler? I'd rather LRM with it.

It's surprisingly effective in that role. Not that pushing a 128-point alpha needs much finesse

Agreed, which is why I'll do neither.

No, I mean your loss. It's not like there is much you can do with the UV CT, seeing as pretty much any build that doesn't depend on the missile hardpoint can be done better or another variant. LRM DWF is, as we've established, a crap solution and anyone trying to use a 2-slot missile hardpoint for it has more than a few screws loose. That leaves SRMs, and that means building for brawl. Min-maxing on it can get you a build that vomits 100+ point alphas with no ghost heat and, well... there's few contenders for that kind of firepower in the game.

On paper firepower that cannot be brought to bear on most maps in most games is useless.

You drop in an lrm dire when you have narc and/or tag buddies to keep the targets nice and lit up. Solo qp in one is just stupid and a waste of an assault.

For LRM team play with narcers it's one of the best in the game, and the UV CT is the best CT for that build. Velocity and heat quirks and no extra stuff taking up any slots or tonnage are exactly what you want on LRM assault turrets.

Whether you like LRMs or not and whether you see it being played is quite irrelevant.

As far as selling points for hero mechs this is one of the few things I believe PGI has done well, many hero mechs have been popular without being overpowered. I also think the UV is one of the more popular hero mechs, primarily for the ballistic arm pods, so in that sense it's a successful design.
