6R variant is. Of course I'm using the two ballistic hard points for
Much larger ballistics then what it comes with. A few builds I'm
Messing with right now are
1. 2 LBX 10s - 5 medium lasers
2. Heavy Gauss LBX 10 3 med lasers
3. Heavy Gauss Mrm 30 4 med lasers
4. Or LBx 20 Mrm 30 4 med lasers
What do you guys use?

Because it's "Meta". As with any game everyone looks up what the meta is
And that's all everyone uses. I mean am I wrong on that?! I just don't want to
Make a video showcasing a build everyone already uses. If that makes sense

I think I’d prefer a mixed build for the heat:

If Snubs get nerfed, 2xAC10, 3xLPPC is also an option, decent midrange pinpoint.
My go to option before the recent PPC buffs was alway 2xLBX10, 6xML, which is just a solid brawler for me. Needs double cool shot for the heat though.

-10% Cooldown, -5% Energy Heat, additional -5% PPC Heat, +20% PPC Velocity
No matter how you slice and dice this WHM-6R, it's a brutal war machine!
It's that good. How?
WHM-6R: 2xAC20 (someone achieved 1000+ kills with this build...)
WHM-6R: 2xLBX20 (ouch!)
WHM-6R: 2xGauss + ERML + XL Engine (very meta, as GrimMechs says)
WHM-6R: 2xUAC10 + laser of your choice
WHM-6R: 2xLBX10 + laser of your choice
WHM-6R: 6xSNPPC+XL280 (goes at 64.8kph; speed is life in XL Engine career)
I prefer armless WHM-6R (strip out armor on both arms for larger engine + speed; plays like a Medium mech!):
WHM-6R: 4xSNPPC + TC1 + LE325 (goes at 75kph!)
WHM-6R: 2xLBX10 + 4xerSML + LE325 (goes at 75kph)

Time to introduce other Warhammer variants for what they do better than WHM-6R:
WHM-7S: missile & PPC builds (+40% Weapon Velocity & -10% Missile Cooldown)
WHM-9D: longer range laser/PPC vomit with JJ (+10% Range, +20% PPC Family Velocity)

But if I were to redo it, base it around snubs because why use HPPCs when snubs do the same damage for almost half the weight? https://mwo.nav-alph...63a7ebbd_WHM-6R
I don't really like doing the 'big gun' builds in the Warhammer because it both ruins the 'aesthetic' of the mech for me and other mechs in the weightclass are quirked for ballistics more. The Cataphract may be long in the tooth at this point of the game and they aren't really seeing any buffs, but the 30, 4X, and IM are all built with ballistics in different spots so you can carry multiple bigger ones and they all have really nice ballistics quirks. Yeah you can't fit twin AC/20s, but in the 30 and IM you can pair an AC/20 with a UAC/10 for the same effect (which is a lot more fun than you'd first think, and I do a similar combination on bigger mechs). Similarly the Thanatos 5S works well, yea it's a bit chunky and doesn't have amazing quirks, but in return you get an ECM slot and more hardpoints that aren't blocked by the ballistics.

WHM-6R (1 MRM-40 (5t ammo), 3 L-PPC, 1 AMS (1/2t ammo) running an LE-335 with 4 DHS, Endo and L-FF. all armor stripped from the arms, 20pts from each leg and 1pt from the head.)
mind you i haven't used this mech in a while and was using it to experiment with L-PPCs after they did a balance change on them. might be worth looking into some other builds for it. maybe Snubs now that they are actually a decent option. (i could easily enough fit 2 snubs and an MRM-30 (MRM-40 if i drop a ton of ammo and one engine size) after all )

You should try that build on a Warhammer 7S. it has a 40% velocity boost, which makes the MRMs amazing.

i´m not able to find said PPC buff patch ... question though: weren´t SPPC HSL3 or have they also recently been nerfed to HSL2? can someone give me the link?

be aware that HSL3 means that Ghost heat is triggered at firing 3
