But like... 70 bucks is a lot. I could just buy a new video game instead.

The additional special add-on is unnecessary unless you want to support PGI, or if you have too much money.
The pricing is steep either way but it is an icon and probably the last Mech added to the game.
As far as its performance is concerned... it is fine, but far from over-performing. The weaknesses are too easily exploited, especially the reliance on arm-mounted weaponry on some models. Also, the legs... You can do well enough with it, though, and that is basically it.

you can get that by buying any tier of Crusader package... and get it from 2022 Annual Rewards Programme.
(You also double-qualify in the IS Reward as well in Annual Rwards!)
CRD-6T(P) is well worth getting IMHO... it is perhaps even better than the Crael hero mech for QP!
Read the CRD-6T build by ghost1e, with LE325 engine (you can also go XL engine for faster speed!):

Finally, Crael hero mech is a beast in 1vs1 Solaris Events!

Will they be released as a C-bill purchasable mech in the future? Cause hero mechs being premium only is one thing becuase you can still play with the non-hero variants but like... c'mon.

Crael is basically a Heavy version of a piranha with no downsides..

This.
It also relies 100% on continuous, uncomfortable ongoing eye contact with a stranger to gather any match score at all. It's a do or die mech. Great in 1v1s at close range, not so great in everything else.
The torso hitboxes are reasonably OK, everything else is a crapshoot. The arms are easy to hit, potentially removing half your firepower in one go, meaning that once you're used to the chassis you have to choose between being able to shield well with your arms, and.... being able to shield well with your arms and losing half your firepower in one go.
Each leg is also vaguely the same size as an Awesome, so anyone who doesn't have Parkinsons and excessively high mouse sensitivity is able to hobble you with ease.
Still a fun mech though. #crusaderlife

.
Or maybe that last event was just a whole bunch of really lucky people.

Yeah, it was indeed dominant in 1v1, no debating that - you can't cram that much short range DPS into a mech and not have it do well in the specific circumstances it's built to excel at. Orion wasn't far behind though, and I'm sure there won't be many about asking for nerfs to that.
Name Matches Wins Losses Dmg Done Win % (sorted) DMG per Match
CRUSADER CRAEL 3865 2858 1007 1388974 73.95% 359.37
ORION ON1-VA 1193 855 338 416454 71.67% 349.08
Crael doesn't run as well in the soup queue though. It's rare that you get into a pure 1v1 there, and rarer still that you get to the range where you can without suffering enough damage to make you hesitant to commit to any sort of staring match.
Same as the 6T, or even any other short ranged DPS mech though - if you get to the frontline and are allowed to do work, you can indeed do some good work.

Not that slow and its quite a fast heavy IS mech comparatively. And it tanks quite a good amount of damage.

Piranha moves 140 km/h.
"Crael" moves about 70 km/h, i.e. a half of Piranha's speed.
And I guess we do not have to discuss the size and the agility of both 'Mechs.

Thick legs and no jump jets.
I could see it being strong on a 4th wave defense in faction play, if we ever made FP popular again.

This is the way.
I do the same with brawl Crusaders, and with SRM MadDogs, and with brawl Orions, and with sniper MarauderIICs with their ludicrous any range pinpoint, and with 4 AC5 Yagers, or basically any mech that excels with one particular role. Used to do the same with 3Peep Veagles, Boom Yagers when they were a thing, or with Splatapaults when they could one shot you with splash damage to the head, or even LagRavens back in the day. See a dangerous build, call it out, so you can make it less dangerous.
Any mech that excels at one thing is dangerous if you let it excel at that one thing. I was ranted at the other day by a dude who was annoyed his extreme long range high heat build was dismantled in short order by my ludicrously short range dps brawl machine. No-one shot at me on the way there, despite my derp chime going nuts as I sauntered over, and he was 2 grids from any support.
But, for anyone frustrated by Crusaders, seriously, go for the legs. Seriously, a leg on the Crusader is 3CTs wide lol. I can't wait until they drop for cbills. I won't be skipping Crusader legging-day, and judging from my own impotent rage at the number of times i've been legged in the Crudader, the salt will be glorious.
Also, the arms are a great target. So much firepower, so easy to prune.

I'm going to play only this mech for quite a long time, just for fun!
By the way, I'm beginning to wonder if some of you folks have actually bought
this Crusader mech pack before commenting on its speed, no JJ, etc.
My CRD-6T goes at 89.7kph with LE engine and maxed out Speed Tweak skill tree,
and you can go even faster with XL engine if you wish!
Oh, and CRD-6T can have Jump Jet (JJ) also!

They're talking about the Crael. no JJ, 315 engine cap.
the 6T is a rock star. Platinum or no, I'll be driving it for the +30% cBills!
