Yesterday I played two matches on the new map, so I don't have a final opinion about it yet.
But one thing unpleasantly struck me once again. Do we have to have unbreakable small trees in 2023? Am I the only one that this ghostly forest hurts my eyes on all the maps?

Many here have already noted the grass floating in the air. But for me, this is not the most significant drawback (although it looks very strange for 2023).

P.S. Anyway, I have to thank the new map designer and wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors!

P.S. Remove groups from solo queue! Give us matchmaker, PGI!

I just noticed that DATA has already uploaded a video with a detailed explanation of the new map:

Enjoy!

Yeah I'm not sure how the Moonwalker got greenlit like this. "Let's take a Madcat B, one of the best all around dakka mechs that doesn't even need quirks, and then give it 2 more ballistic hardpoints!" What could possible go wrong? What's the role of the B now?

Arm actuators. The MCII-B has Lower Arm Actuators on both arms, allowing easier aiming with the quad ballistics. The new Legendary MCII does not, meaning it will have the same difficulty aiming its ballistics as the -1 and -2 variants, or as Maulers do, etc. It doesn't make much difference in a long range sniping role, but it will make a huge difference when trying to fend off 20 tonners.

I have to strongly disagree.. I mainly play disadvantaged mechs and derive pleasure from making them work.. and I've tried hard making the Kintaro work.. any Kintaro.. and failed. It has waaaay too many disadvantages. No one plays it and it needed something.. hopefully these patch changes will be enough.

I dunno, I recently mastered the KTO-19b variant, and I didn't feel like I was having any particular difficulty with that build aside from the normal "not enough skills" issues. Most NARC/LRM combo 'mechs can at least use their own tracking pods.

Terra Therma Crucible Revamped Reimagined Deux 5 allows mechs to fall in the lava pit without any way of getting out. I'd be ok with it, kinda, if it damaged your legs until you die but it doesn't and a friendly got stuck down there with only a med laser left and couldn't overheat. The main unfair part is the game doesn't have respawns. This is why lava doesn't damage you in the first place despite the logical thinking that it should. Otherwise, I only got to play the map once and got demolished but the design looks better.

On a side note, for the next map, can we just have a normal, daytime, green hills, rocks, trees kind of map? Forest colony assets I suppose but more like a rolling hills map with a river or something.

I don't have any evidence to show you, but the KTO were not horrible before this patch, they are basically the equivalent the mediums version of the commando's fault that it's just a really mediocre design and there is other in meta choices.

Honestly I don't even know if Data's changes might of made some of them weaker now, granted they all got a least 10 arm armor which didn't need all the quirk shuffling he did.

Like the old KTO palselaser choice was GoldenBoy with 30% range bonus palse lasers range and 20% range SRM, I feel is more useful bonus then 40% palse laser duration KTO-20 now...

The old KTO-20 could do what the GB does now but had 4 backup lasers instead of 3.

The KTO-19 is now just a SSRM onetrick pony now. Before it had 15% laser cooldown and 5% more laser range. And was a support field mech with NARC and LRM options.

Terra Therma is basically a **** that had a lot of polishing throughout the years but simply always stayed a **** and always will be a **** no matter what you do with it that isn't a full redesign of the damn thing! Posted Image

I really hope so, because this new map makes me sing "Purple Rain" all the time and that's not because I like that song soo much... Posted Image

- Purple... PURPLE EVERYWHERE!!!
How about some contrast ?!

- At the places you can get SOME COVER there is also a huge chance you will get horribly STUCK! because of some small edge blocking your mech to walk backwards...
Please CLEAN UP THE MAPS and don't create new ones with the same issues : https://mwomercs.com...ff-on-all-maps/

Just the other day I was walking around in a Scarecrow on The Mining Collective and got stuck between some totally unnecessary pole and a small building... Posted Image

- LURM/ER LL/ER PPC optimized maps are seriously ZERO FUN when you don't have one of those weapons equipped on your mech!
You just wait and wait and wait untill you get a chance do support your team somehow, but by then your team might also be totally wiped out and then you die alone without a decent score and the PSR be like : HA! HA! Down you go! AGAIN! Posted Image

People use to complain about the original Polar Highlands but that map was many times better than this horrible new thing even with all those invisible walls and glitchy textures it had!

My evidence they were horrible is that you RARELY saw Kintaro's in the field.. and if you did, their results were not good to say the least.. unless it was a premade of them. So far, I'm having fun with the KTO-20 equipped with 3LP and TC1. It's not OP bec it's a small alpha with low mounts.. but at least it fires one-sided; so with full accel-decel nodes, (plus all the new quirks like that 40% dur on pulses making it VERY stabby) it makes for a pretty decent poker..                        Still trying to fine tune the Golden Boy.. so far I have 4MRM10 AND 3MP with a TC1. Not only can you brawl.. but the quirks let you use it at range too.. I'm not one to fire murms anywhere near their max range but with the new quirks (15% range, and 10% spread and 30%! velocity, etc) you can actually now win trades with murms at range.

I don't know if it's the new quirks or maybe bec the player base now has alot of 'new' players, but I seem to be doing decent in the sooped up Kintaro's now.
I'm of the opinion that XL engines bring a mech to life.. you can do so much more with it... also, speed = armor..

You need to be more fair.
Example, I have over 200 mechs to choose from in mechbay, the KTO-20 is definitely not even near my top 30 favorites.
So the chances you see me (or another person with similar situation) taking them out.
That does not equal them being horrible before.

I never see the Trebuchet, only in the rare match. Seen people do bad and good in them. But they are rare, it's not because they are bad at all, they are strong. Just I too many choices.

Lava used to do damage. I recall it used to do a fair amount of damage, and somewhat quickly, if you just stood in it and didn't care. Just walking through a corner of it was enough to do that first 1% of damage across your legs (to the point where I had very careful paths picked out on Terra Therma to try and avoid the lava pools while still running for the circle). Somewhere along the way, they turned that off, or toned it WAY back. Personally, I think that's a shame, because it's realistic, and added another layer of immersion to the environment.

Same with my disappointment that, when they removed the time-of-day mid-match change (which caused the game to lag-out for everybody, and was rightly removed) they also removed the random time-of-day selector for the start of the match. I wouldn't have minded a 15 minute match in the pitch blackness of midnight every now and then, as long as it didn't try to trigger a sunrise and lag everyone out mid-match.

I think there also used to be weather effects that have been removed, because they made it hard to see (which was kinda the point).

I still say that Old Polar Highlands was not a problem map. DOMINATION on Old Polar was a problem MODE. And it's a problem on a few other maps, too. It worked on Old HPG, and maybe on Mining Collective, but apart from that, it's extremely problematic, because it prevents players from making ANY use of what are otherwise really big, diverse, fun maps, and prevents teams from using any real strategy at all.
