I'm not sure how they would improve mc3 over mc2.

Maybe if they had preset mech formations like homeworld where lances could assume box, line, V and other geometric patterns for better use of tactics.

And a better command structure for deploying mechs and vehicles. Individual hotkeys to order a lance to flank left / flank right / scout an area.

I'm not sure how that would work in the real world though. It could be too tedious.

The upcoming Battletech game from Harebrained Schemes is exacly what youre looking for.

i dont think so. i also gave money at kickstarter for battletech and it looks great but its not a MC3.
MC is realtime, Battletech is with rounds. I think is a really big difference in gameplay, although you can stop the game in MC anytime too and give orders, a game where everything is moving the same time and a game where everything is moving after each other is a big difference. i'm happy about the upcoming Battletech Game, but still i really wish for a new part of MechCommander. With the same feeling like in the first part. The second was not bad, but that time 3D was not really nice, i prefered to play in 2D. Its the same with Sudden Strike, Part 1 and 2 were awesome, but Part 3 in 3D was not really good, but soon they will release Sudden Strike 4 in a really nice 3D look that looks like the old 2D Parts, just more awesome Posted Image i wish this for MechCommander too.

Better multiplayer, better effects (even when MC2 came out its graphics were ****), less glitchy terrain, better interface, better mech bay and mech customization instead of that drag and drop, throw as many PPC's as possible one, etc

There is an entire laundry of things.

BTW was just looking. Apparently MechWarrior Tactical Command is as dead as a door nail.

I liked MC2's reduced restrictions on hardpoints, armor & equipment.

Maybe combining gameplay similar to MC2, with tech trees reminescent of the civilization series, along with the type of RTS map structures, terrain and micro / macro of a game like starcraft.

With some innovations piled on top.

Even with BT-O coming out, MC3 would be a game I would undoubtedly enjoy if it were to come to fruition.

I would probably shill for a well done remaster of the original. There was a lot to the OG that I'm just not sure would carry over to a new edition. And for the record, Battletech isn't it.

There's a mod for MW5 that turns it into mech commander. It basically makes all the mechs ai controlled and makes you have a top down view where you tell them were to go and what to shoot.
