So we gonna get a refund option? Because without one there will be ZERO chance I will buy into another legendary mech only to have it nerfed bait and switch style later. C'mon this is pure cash shop level ********.. Posted Image

Its not a bait and switch. It was considerably overpowered. With these changes, it will merely be extremely good.

Come on, we all knew from day one it was going to be nerfed.

It does kind of raise the question whether there should be some kind of preliminary playtest process for things like this so they get launched in a state that doesn't require swift nerfsticking.

No idea how that would be handled.

Its the very definition of bait and switch. People bought it because of the quirks not for any other reason. So to heavily nerf it after most had already bought in is a very cheap move. I'm not going to rage quit the game or anything but if there isn't a refund offered at least for those that bought in before the patch then the chances of buying into any new legendaries are slim to none. Maybe if they go forward from here with a no nerf policy and BETTER playtesting before the sale I might be swayed. But as it stands no go. Shame as this concept has a lot of potential to fund the game and keep it healthy.

No. A bait and switch is when you falsely advertise something as being high quality when it isn't. It implies intention to deceive. The scattershot was advertised as a mech with high fire rate in return for worse spread (I mean, not even that. There's not really any marketing materials saying this specifically, but we get that it was supposed to be that). That's exactly what it was and will remain. It is by definition not a bait and switch. PGI tries to offer a balanced game experience. If anything is a bait and switch, it would be allowing the game balance to be ruined by outlier mechs like this.

When you bought it, did you know it was overpowered, and only bought it because it was overpowered? If that's the case, lol. Lmao even. No sympathy.

Did you buy it because it seemed like a cool mech with an alternate playstyle? Well, it was too powerful and its being given a very reasonable change that keeps the spirit of the mech intact. It should still be very good. If it isn't, the Cauldron will surely be willing to consider further adjustments. You haven't lost anything.

Further, a lot of the reason for its power was the last minute decision to give it no JJ shake. This was because of a misunderstanding. The people who planned the quirks didn't know it was getting this, and the person who added it didn't fully understand the quirk situation.

So since a large aspect of its power was unintentional and not advertised, it is completely reasonable for it to be adjusted.

Do you own stock in eg7 Heavy? Because that was a first class pitch. Posted Image

I initially saw the bonus+malus model and thought it was neat. I wouldn't have guessed from the numbers alone what its performance would be like, and I am going to operate under the assumption that they didn't either. The hardpoint count and type did cause me concern, because we just saw Moonwalker do that "I'm you but with more/better hardpoints" thing.

Back of my mind? I'm a bit suspicious after Moonwalker and the LAA thing.

Doesn't do me a whole lot of good to lean into that, though.

Things should get run through a few "does this tip the applecart" tests, wasn't there a test server?

Well Heavy laid out a plausible defense if you were going to do some reforms before putting out the next batch but they still ~knowingly~ put it up for sale with those stats. This wasn't an oops moment it was deliberately allowed at some point in the process.

They keep doing this with mechs minor, major.. they release mechs platinum, or legendary.. and barely a week or two into it... they nerf it. I'm done buying **** because of it. They need to stop. This isn't League of Legends. That's super common there. Release an OP character... soak money for a while like a month or two at least... then nerf it. But barely a week or two? Damn! A LOT of us that aren't it seems T1 super amazing my balls are on fire pilots hate the Fafnir hitbox change. Cauldron has said there is NO WAY it's going back. They make the calls, and we can suck it Gus. So my wallet is closed, until they start showing some discretion.

Releasing a mech that is op then nerfing it is how pgi has always sold mechs. Be lucky you got some time with it before the nerf. hbk-gi use to have a dam good rof for guass. Rvn-h use to be a srm 4 spamer. Oxide was the bomb but now an acw goes it better plus ecm. firestarters were omg heat and flamer fx then the flamer became a puny glow stick.

Cbill mechs get a pass because they don't cost real world money. Hero mechs for mc also get a pass because of all the free mc pgi tosses at us. Cash shop only mechs however DO NOT get a pass because you only have the option to acquire them for real money. This is the thing we were worried about with the eg7 acquisition in that they would try to pull some cash shop shenanigans. To be fair its only the scattershot that has been a bait and switch and that seems partly due to poor communication between pgi and cauldron and a push to get it out for sale asap. This can be corrected if they admit it publicly to regain consumer trust.

It could have been done pre release. Thats the gripe. No more tossing them out poorly tested.
