Some catchup because my brain got so far ahead that it fell behind...

So maybe I’m missing it entirely, but when is the actual release of the Stone Rhino?

View PostD V Devnull, on 16 June 2023 - 05:01 PM, said:

It will happen with this June 20, 2023 Patch coming out at 10 AM PDT and knocking everyone offline. They've changed the Pre-Order Extras to be available after the introduction for a little while, which really is a good move. Posted Image

Where do you see that they moved up the release date? The patch notes say "Next month" and the pre-order page still says July 25th.

My mistake there, '', and you have my thanks for catching & calling me on it. I was in a bit of a rush at the time over some things going on, and my mind got jumbled the wrong way. It's indeed as you identify it, and July 25th, 2023 will be when the Stone Rhino comes stomping onto MWO's various battlegrounds. :)

I'm excited for both of the legendaries. I don't care that its a non omni, cause I never really cared that MWO was not a part of lore. It should be for fun, not for 'mUh LoRe'. Both seem to have a decent gimmick to them, light PPC with gauss, which sounds odd but I hope it works, and ATM's that can reach up to almost 500 M with 2.5 damage. Not consumable spam. I love this.

For the QUICKDRAW "DESPERADA" - instead of Light PPC HSL +2 can we get an Energy HSL +1 and Light PPC HSL +1 ?

makes more sense and gives you ability to chose from very different builds...differentiating it from 5K. otherwise there is no point having it...

There is also an existing viper-m designation on sarna but the hero medusa is vpr-m on mwo

Huh... I didn't know about that one. Well, that means the Viper "Medusa" Hero needs its' designator fixed too! Perhaps something like "VPR-MD" would be suitable? :o

OK... Another patch with another pair of legendaries...
Nothing unusual I guess. Some nerfs some buffs some fuel the community to... Wait, no, really...
A Quickdraw PPC-boat zombie-mech? Seems decent?
But let's look around once again...

Sneakpeek from a new map? Another HPG sniper-fold-esque stuff? And that planet seems odd, the graphician need to handle it either an object closer to the camera or forfeit parallax effect. Those stars float upon the planet's dark side are, well, beginners' error, just note PGI! (not mention some other glitches, the community do it 24\7 every month)

Where were the werewolf? Wait, that's NWN not MWO, my bad...

...

Hunh? Howl?! ***---*** <> Heck?

Posted Image
As the big gal pointed out! +80% ATM range?
PGI PROMISE IT HERE AND NOW THAT NOT YOU NOR CAULDRON WOULD EVER CHANGE THAT!
PROMISE DAMMIT THEN TAKE MAH MOOOOOONEY!!!

Yeah. If it would be an omni at the end and keep the ATM quirk I really and heavily would consider buying a Howl!
Around september to see the ATM quirks remain... If it would be nerfed, just asking: How to get refund my money?

...

Okay, before I start to seriously derail I finish it instead!
Maybe I should drop some TL\DR at the beginning of this post?!

Some comments in this thread ...
If the nascar loving QP players will uninstall MWO, when drop decks are intruduced to QP, so be it.

Hi all... While it may be that I'm in particular replying to 'Heavy Money' with this, it felt like you should all be in on the thought. What has been said by 'Ralph Edwards' catches part of my thought, but not all of it. We most definitely should be able to have a Legendary TimberWolf in the MWO environment to play with/against on the battlefields, but it needs to be done in OmniMech format in order to stick with the Lore & ideas of that Mech's creation/heart/spirit/form/design as they are meant to be. All that would be needed is taking one Missile HardPoint from each Side Torso Component space, moving them each out to the corresponding respective Arm Component space, and subsequently restoring the MASC/JJs/Endo-Steel/Ferro-Fibrous to their proper Fixed Equipment states. Fixing this as I'm describing returns sanity and restores compliance with the OmniMech Specification which is a natural part of the TimberWolf's rightful makeup. Trying to unjustly re-design the TimberWolf in a BattleMech format wrongfully tears all of that out, and wipes out the ability to design the TimberWolf Legendary in the ways which virtually everyone already expects it should be possible to do so. :(

I liked the DESPERADA colors and name, but it looks weak. Maybe if you push it, you can fit in 4 ERPPCs.

HOWL is fine as a name. I wanted a dog or wolf theme, but not just a couple of lines of text. It should be a real theme.

I don't know how they both look after attaching the addions.

Sounds good. At least it will conform to the accurate lore.. If it had been a battlemech of a different mech no issue many clan battlemechs exist, not madcats though. Also omnimechs give players more options to change loadouts if you don't care for the quirks.. Or if it gets nerfed in the following weeks and months Posted Image

I can't see why anyone would hate drop decks in quickplay they would be so handy.. You don't even have to allow all 4 mechs to drop.. just have four different mechs with different camos etc to be ready to drop.

Alpine map pops oh i can use my large laser boat or a lrmboat.. HPG map arrives ohhh i can use my brawler or erlarge mech.. Viridian bog ok now its my fast mechs or Brawlers etc...

Instead of currently oh i'm in my brawler and everyone picked Alpine 7 mins of wasting my time..

when clans first launched you could add omnipod like jump jets on mechs that didn't have fixed jump jets like the kit fox.

I'm pretty sure that the battlmech timberwolf is a fluke and they are just showing off the hardpoints...

it will very likely be a omni.

Engine is 370 instead of 375, there's equipment in the legs, where the Omni has fixed armor/structure, etc. And Navid A1 (Cauldron spokesperson and someone who at least personally interacts with the people who designed this, if he didn't have a hand in it, himself) confirmed that it is, in fact, a Battlemech Timber Wolf with a minimum engine rating of 350 (and presumably a max rating of 400).

Its "legendary" quirk is an 80% range boost to ATMs, which someone calculated puts the high-damage range out to 450m, and which everyone is 100% sure will be nerfed into oblivion after a week, or a month, of having this thing in game, until you'd be just as well off buying the CB TBR-D for the quad missile hardpoints without fixed jump jets.

This is where my own alternative recommendation comes into play. This is something I've been considering for a couple of years, as a way to make Omnis feel "Omni" again, but the programming would be the same for all 'mechs, or just Omnis:

Instead of a "drop deck", you enable the "load" button from the 'mechlab in the post-voting screen, so you can load saved builds of that specific chassis.

So you're in your 4x SRM6, AC/20 Atlas, and everyone picked Alpine. Instead of switching to a 4x ERLL Hellbringer (which would totally mess up any sort of weight distribution that the matchmaker might be trying to implement), you can pick your 4x LRM5, Gauss Rifle build for that same Atlas.

It could be, in my opinion, there's no harm in it. As long as there is a solution, it doesn't matter how it is resolved. What matters is that people recognize it as a problem and find a solution

Some people get uncomfortable with the idea of long gaming sessions. A solution can be found for this as well. For instance, players can have the option to exit the game after receiving instant performance scors.

The score multiplier can be increased among the remaining players.

I think the best part of FP is respawning over and over again. Don't you think QP is a bit hardcore? Okay, we all love competition, but QP shouldn't be the area where players hard, in my opinion.

When you look at all the newly released online games today, you will see multiple game modes. They are arranged from easy to difficult. You can observe this as well. I find this aspect missing in the game.

I'm not saying that this game is better. I'm not saying this to promote or advertise any game, I'm just stating what I see as a missing aspect. Please do not get me wrong.

You are targeting the same player base.
