Long time player here. I came back a few months ago after a 3 year hiatus and I haven't seen a single gold mech (the $500 ones). They were rare back in the day and were primary targets in all gamesbut, do they still exists? Any old timers left?

Wow I love this. Excellent question. I haven't seen one in ages, in fact even back then I thin I saw one only once. This would be the ultimate flex these days! And these days you probably wouldn't get TKd for it.

Remember the guy who made a color/skin combination close to gold, painted his mechs and did an experiment logging into games calling people peasants and stuff? Got TKed all the time. Some times even without provocation.

In the few years I've played this game I have only seen one on the battlefield once.

Are you sure it was an actual gold mech or an impostor paint and skin? They do look very similar.

They are rare. I've seen a few. Never bought one. Especially when they were $500 PER skin when first released. Check the web site store and you might be able to get it. Or you could just get the color that matches gold much as possible for mc. The only "gold" I bought was my founders package. That's bling enough for me and some people can't tell the Founders' color from other colors so gold/fake gold looks the same.

It was probably the beef that did that fake gold video getting tk-ed.

I love metallic, it's more beautiful I enjoy it as a color. Like a mirror.

Maybe one day they will release a special color transparent. I'm sure it will be quite expensive.

I used to play with a couple guys who had them (DWF and SCR) but neither has played in years AFAIK.

Saw one about 2 years ago, DWF I think. Super exciting.

No judgement against people that want to spend that on a skin... but at least mech packs and legendaries get you some kind of gameplay benefit. An expensive skin just makes you a TK target.

I still drop in my Gold Timby every so often just to see if anyone around knows what it is! I think most of the newer players don't know what it is, but about 1 in 10 games or so, I get someone who asks, "OMG, is that a Gold 'Mech?" and I end up posing for pictures!

I knew a guy who had all of the gold mechs that were available. He was a bit of ****.

Back when they came out, I painted up my Centurion AL in a "gold" color and bragged that it was a Gold Centurion. Funny how much hate and teamkills I attracted despite that mech not actually existing.

I saw one only a few weeks ago. No one batted an eye. Still they think are cool. Should have been like $150 from the start though, and the entire pack like $500. I may have bought it then.

Seen a few. Mostly Timbers, one Dire. I suppose when spending that much on an in-game item it had better be iconic.

yeah i think in all the years i have played i have only seen one or two (always the Timby). i agree that anyone who pays that much for an video game skin should have their head examined. (though if you want a gold mech there is always the Kintaro hero. i was actually looking at it as one of my free hero choices for the current summer loot bag event. i am really getting to the point where i am running out of ones that interest me)

My head absolutely needs to be examined! But for other reasons...

Many people I know in this game are a little older and a little more established career-wise. $500 might not have been that big of an expense for them, especially when supporting a game they enjoy.
