Hats off to the Cauldron, who notices everything in MWO...
The July 2023 Patch just killed my favourite Dire Whale ballistic build Posted Image

Had to strip some armor but now more burst damage and more damage potential.

You guys are seriously bringing Dakka-Bear back? (the one with 4x UAC10), I mean sure.

RAC 5 being basically RAC2 but more damage is cool I guess. I actually just got back, but did RAC2 at least got +1 HSL?

BLR-D1 is funny -- RACs and UAC no longer jam lol. But makes sense. Who TF builds a ballistic BLR?

Urbie - Gotta love that RAC quirks.

I just got back, but it seems to me that the Gulag Cauldron, after being traumatized by PGI's conservative balancing, is double-downing on power-creeping.

Gausszilla will be dead after two minutes in each match because he will be abandoned by his team so hard. Nascar in this 32 kph monster lol

Why did PGI equip heatsinks? Without them you can run a slightly larger engine.

200 engine needs 2 external HS.

What is the rationale behind the nerfing of Clan ER medium lasers?

Uhm… why would you want Gauss HSL on a mech with ZERO Ballistic hard points?

Kill me now... I was thinking of the SR2... Night shifts are a hell of a drug.

If your build relied on alpha striking 7 cERML on a mech without a HSL quirk... well, now it doesn't. Oh no. So many builds will need changing. Such heat. Very broken. Much sadness.

This honestly makes my TBR-BH work better with 2LPL 7ERML. Had been using the A left torso to peeksnipe with 3 ERLL and 6 ERML in the low mounts. Wasn't thrilled with it in that config.

E: haha I misread patch notes never mind. Okay, back to drawing board. TBR-S will likely be a candidate for LPL ERML shenanigans. BH might go back to stockpods. Not sure.

Is the MechDB HSL list still current?

https://mwo.nav-alph...pment/ghostheat

If so, then why are IS HSL limits so much more lenient than clan? IS ERML's can fire, 8 at a time, according to that list, for 37.62 heat where as Clan ERML's, if firing 8 at a time, generate 51.17 heat, and that is before the coming nerf.

I am just wondering why Clan lasers get screwed and not IS? IS already has a consistent, across the laser family advantage in heat scale limits.

Because IS lasers have poorer range, take more crits and tonnage typically, are reliant on other IS equipment that is also worse than Clan equivalent. I don't think anyone's about to crap themselves over an IS ERML boat, even if the BJ-1X and HBK-4P are in serviceable states. I can cram something like 28 DHS into a MADIIC with 3LPL 6ERML and a TC. Ain't no IS mech pulling that trick yet.

If there's something amiss, Cauldron will probably tweak it, and you can broach the matter yourself if you're so inclined.

odd. That quirk was supposed to be medium laser family, not just cERML

Damn, big sad confirmed. No head hunting clan mech today. Been dreaming of 2 gauss 2 ER PPC on the dorsal mounds since the pre order.

Probably because there's about 3 IS mechs below assault that even have enough energy hardpoints to put 8E... whereas there are clan mechs at every weight that you can omni pod into 10-16 E hardpoints?

Not sure what my thoughts are on the removal of the 90m minimum range for standard IS PPCs... I do kind of understand why as a lot of people don't get it but I also feel for canon, although PGI is entirely allowed to bend it :)

First no one was using lights or snubs... so they got buffed. Then we had snubpockalypse. So they got nerfred. Now no on uses anything except snubs or lights still, so we need to do something about the other PPCs.

I can't remember the last time I saw a standard PPC come up on a paperdoll of someones mech to be honest.

I know, that's the magic. They can tag a chassis as they see fit, so we're one step closer to a Nova being tagged as IS and boom, Blackhawk KU for everyone. Get two. Get three, one for the kids.
I'm pretty sure the blackhawk KU is heavier than the Nova though. by 10 tons so it can fit the heavier IS tech.

When I used IS mechs i always used ERPPCs... I could deal with the extra heat.

So technically, we have two new chassis for this July 2023 Patch:

1) Stone Rhino, and
2) Annihilator IIC for the Clan (aka Annihilator Gausszilla Legendary Mech) Posted Image

I am not complaining...
I am not complaining...
I am not complaining... Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image
To be fair the annihilator in lore was extinct in the Inner sphere untill the Wolf's Dragoons brought thier own...

That and a possible release of C variants of IS mechs there is plenty that fully equipped with Clan Tech, but at this point we should slow push for variants with mix tech at least add something unique to the game.
I imagine if any more C variants are released they will be clan mechs..... so for faction play they will count as clan mechs.
