From Div E to Div A, and now invitationals, I have come a long way through my year within the MWO competitive community. Throughout this one year, there were so many moments of action, teamwork, and competitive spirit. The interactions and mentorship I gained from everyone within the community are too precious to name just one. I look forward to cheering on everyone in the coming 2023 Championship, and wish all participants good luck!

My favorite comp experience was a game vs. CDU where I was fighting the last mech alive (an almost dead medium mech IIRC) in my nearly fresh Warhammer on my own base, and I accidentally stepped off the base and the cap timer ran out and we lost. Was a big throw but it was fun anyway.

Also the time I fell into the volcano in TOS but stayed alive by shutting down my mech, which denied the enemy team several points in the comp.

I gotta say, My favorite experience with Comp is definitely Banter. However, if we're talking actual matches... My favorite experience would be matching against ABINs back in WCS22. Many losses, but they were a lot of fun to match against in the competitive queue.

I look forward to seeing who all will take the 8 slots for top 12 from Comp Queue this year. Gonna have a lot of stiff competition for those 8 slots.

My favorite comp memory is from Tournament of Stars last year (2022). I was brand-new to comp and quite new to the game as well, I was playing for FJRD's C-team lead by Jay and Neil from KDCM. In the second week we were cast, and during the Vitric game we had a moment where we pushed up on the platforms to be directly above the enemy team, and Jay called for all of us to line up in the same direction (you can see him point with his lasers) and walk backwards off the platform to initiate the brawl; a sync drop, if you will. We won the game, and the set, and eventually the division. But that moment really sold me on playing comp.

There are so many amazing moments I've had in MWO-Comp. Most recently this drop is still in my mind from the CS2023 invitational-playoffs.

Wish you all could hear the pilots screaming on our internal comms, it's chaos incarnate but we all knew what was being communicated. <3

While it was so incredible to work well as a team and secure the win, we all are somewhat forlorn we won't see all our friends and fellow mech-lovers in the CS2023 comp queue. Looking forward to seeing how the new weapons shake up the meta and seeing who makes it to the top for the CS2023 championship.

Love to all MWO pilots, good luck out there.
May your AC slugs land true, missiles not spread, and laser burns be on target.

This was my first full year of comp having started in the summer of 2022 and its been a blast. My best memory was taking down Mech Enjoyers and KDCM the first night of last years CS queue. While KDCM would get us back later, it showed we were able to really play with the big dogs and gave us the confidence we needed to keep grinding throughout last years tournament.

This clutch during ISC felt really rewarding. The person clutching this match, Masagus Amha and I had practiced earlier that week on leg shielding and it led to this epic clutch. Practice paid off! When your efforts lead to improvement and success, it makes the grind worthwhile

My favorite moment for me was winning 2019 worlds when I had little to no comp experience prior to joining EMP, and then we all stopped caring about comp afterwards. I think including worlds I played ~10 comp matches total.
Met a good bunch of new friends tho.

Low skill ceiling game and low pop, ggez winz. Heim was right

This will be my first time playing in comp after 9 years of playing casually and I'm really looking forward to it. Playing in a organised team and trying some strategy that would not work in QP is very exciting. The rewards are really good and I hope the experience will be too.

My favorite comp moment is two actually.

First, this is hands down the best moment of an MWO Comp match and I was very lucky to have casted it. https://clips.twitch...V-RtwrW27Eq7fzK

My second favorite moment was when my teammate renamed himself to TheRealTTB and after we won a match people went to TTB's stream to congratulate him for winning his first comp match. A comp match in Div A no less!

This is my first year in comp, and so far I've had fun. I'm looking forward to the competitive queue and seeing how far we can get.

Rarely pop into the forums for anything these days, but I was bribed and it's worth sharing comp experience as a newcomer to this. Nine years in and I still have a lot left to learn; it's a wholly different experience when you're fighting with a team you trust against teams that trust each other.

Luminios and Mytilus mentioned the same moment in ISC5 (https://clips.twitch...o2Kwb7ggx-9yHJZ), and yes, I was the trigger-happy Jagermech happily melting herself for that extra damage. Let's just say I was too focused on killing them dead to care about how hot I was running until it was too late to stop. Oops...

My favorite moment isn't really a moment, per se - it's the growth I've witnessed in both myself and in the other members of NAFF. One particular map's strat was refined from ISC5 days, and seeing our mech choices and tactics evolve with theorycraft, internal tests, and scrims - that is an experience I hold close to my heart. I almost don't want to start listing names for fear of missing even one...

I think there's a hell of a skill ceiling to be found here, and I'm excited to see how far people will go to play at their level best. Doubt I'll be at the forefront of it, but I've got popcorn for the big showdowns this year!

One of my top memories of playing MechWarrior Online competitive was during the Smoke Adders first round match of Championship Series 2020 when I managed to leg the opposing teams Commando early into our first drop on Frozen City.

https://youtu.be/qWcMjb2gJXA?t=1146

Part of what made this moment so memorable to me was that one week earlier while we were playing in comp queue trying to secure the Smoke Adders top 12 qualification we had faced the same opponents also on Frozen City. Late in that close comp queue match I had chased that same Commando around for close to a minute without managing to land any significant damage to it. I felt as though I had redeemed myself here with this early legging in the rematch.

Fav comp moment was during our first ever comp (ToS) last year. 5v5 on frozen city classic where one of our guys has a major pc crash and disconnects just as the mechs were moving into position. His mech then stumbles into a wall and stays there. The rest of our team try to brawl the enemy and take down their light and one gargoyle but get taken out themselves. It seemed like it was all over... until suddenly Carlieth manages to reconnect, unstick his garoyle from the wall and then proceeds to murder the remaining 3 enemy mechs and take the victory! The casters couldnt beleive it and those in our discord had ringing ears for a while! The "Carlieth Disconnect" has since become our version of the picard maneuver; spoken of in hushed tones to scare future opponents...

My best comp experience so far actually happens every year and happens before comp starts. It's when the team gets together throwing in ideas for strats and builds and trying to see who can do what and how, especially when a new team is getting put together and we have to adjust to each other.

This, and watching new ways of dodging the Q.

My favorite MWO competitive experience was being flown out by the developers to compete at a LAN in 2017, then being able to do it again in 2018! Many people I consider friends to this day were met at those LAN's. Playing a video game competitively at a LAN environment is something special worth cherishing, and being able to win at a LAN as I did in 2017 is even more special!
