Are We Allowed To Make The Game Faster?

Are we even sure 60kph is really going 60 kph in scale?
I ask because when the event queue gives assaults a speed boost, they feel a lot better to play.
And big dumb slow mechs leads to big dumb slow gameplay.
It creates people who are afraid to leave cover because they know they are so big and dumb and slow.
So, can we just like scale up the speed a little for everyone?
Would that be cool? Is there a lore reason or physics reason not to?

If you would keep the speed relation to other mechs, hitreg would have a hard time to register hits on light mechs. Imagine the crying of the camping snipers.
If you just speed assaults...why would anyone need to play lights and meds then?

No, we had it before and got tired of that. I just enjoy building a viable 60kph Victor when 10 years ago that was a joke.

So for everyone (all four weight classes), or just for assault 'Mechs?

now think how tall an Assault mech is (even more so since MWO has scaled mechs up a good bit) the 60 kph seems slower. keep in mind that 60kph is only about 37mph so there is that. thats not very fast all thing consider though in an assault you are trying to move 80-100 TONS of metal around.

XL 170 fits comfortably with most weapon builds on the R60L. 91Km/h is pretty nice with RAC5/AC20

When I feel that it's all a bit too fast, I'll go back to World of Warships. I liked the 10 second flight time on shells, and the minute or so for torpedos. It helps me keep people complaining about the extra 100ms of latency on Oceanic in perspective.

If all mechs were to speed up proportionately, and we had lights running around at 200 KPH, even if us mech daddies could technically operate them at those speeds, communications lags would be crippling for many of us who have high pings anyways.
I do feel your pain in regards to timid gameplay though...so many guy trying to hide their way to victory...

Good point. And the reduced top speed is less important than the sluggishness of accelerating, decelerating, and turning 100 tons. They should ensure that 100 tons takes four times longer to turn each degree, raise and lower its arms, or add/stop 1kph. than 25 tons does.

Could you stop repeating that erroneous statement?
I have already explained to you what is that "legitimate tabletop speed". Just re-read this thread: Direwolves Speed Nerf?
In that earlier thread I even posted the screenshot of the actual BattleTech rules to show you what the "legitimate tabletop speed" really is.

Yes pls! That's the reason why I don't really play any assaults besides the EXE anymore. They just feel anemic and that's not fun.
For me assaults are anemic because every little object on the ground can stop them, a slope too steep and an assault is struggling to go up the hill. I think it's OK that assaults are slow but they should have more power when moving around. I think it works better in MW5 although maybe a little too good.
