There should be almost 0 reason for the BSW-P1 to have LBX cooldown when the majority of hardpoints are missile, same with the BSW-S2, which has a ballistic cooldown.

The right arm on a BSW is usually severed and used as a deadside/shield for almost every build, and doubly so with the P1/S2 which both share heavy left torso/arm favoritism.

Maybe focus the S2 to be SRM oriented and the P1 to have more generic missile quirks to start

The entire Bushwacker chassis received a big buff in the Sept'2023 patch IMHO:
~Big increase in Armor quirks
~Added -10% Heat on some variants (including BSW-S2)
~Added -20% Laser Heat on BSW-HR hero mech (try putting 2x Binary Lasers on it! +10% Range to boot).

==>Personally I'll trade BSW-S2 missile quirks (removed) for global -10% Heat for all weapons! ymmv

I was a bit miffed. One of my very first mechs was an S2. It was running 4xSRM4, 2xML, 2xAMS for 5 years with no changes... and all of a sudden the missile quirks disappear.

Strong chassis and the survivability of them now is very high, but the missile quirks disappearing on them is sad.

Honestly I agree with how the BSW got buffed, but it still really does not address how both the P1 and S2 got a shoehorned ballistic quirk in trade for the missile quirks

I guess the ballistic quirk was given to encourage using the hardpoint. Both seem to be good for missiles even without quirks. Additional armor also helps all SRM/MRM builds.

yeah thats something has always bothered me about certain mechs. you have mech that have a single ballistic slot and lots of others (energy or missile) but its quirked heavily to that ballistic. same for mechs only one Missile slot or only 1 or 2 energy. then again in a mech with say a number of energy and one or two ballistic the energy are likely lorewise back-up weapons for the ballistic. like the Centurion should have ballistic quirks because most of them are built around that ballistic arm (same for a few Urbies). the Bushwacker was one of the first "Clan Buster" mechs and a test bed for many new systems so have a diverse loadout for that purpose.

honestly i would like to see Quirks that are based in the Lore usage of the chassis in question. for those with very little lore (or the PGI creations) then look at the stock build and make up the quirks based on what that build seems geared for. some mechs have this treatment already and some the quirks just make no sense.

Few things:

1) When we at cauldron were buffing the bushwacker and redoing its quirks, we identified one or two set builds in mind per variant to help keep the quirks focused. The BSW-P1 set build was 6 SRM2 1 LB10, which has been a long time staple build of that mech. The extra LBx cooldown makes those two weapon types sync perfectly.

2) BSW-S2 is already a very powerful deadside 4 SRM6 mech, so the ballistic cooldown is to help encourage use of an otherwise forgotten hardpoint. When quirking mechs we quirk around the most optimal builds to ensure balance doesn't get whacky.

3) Cauldron actually has a feedback server that we read daily for balancing. Requests on the forums might be lost, but you can always come by here to discuss. https://discord.gg/BKb7muZZ3Y

I thought we were supposed to use quirks in a general sense rather than to encourage or reinforce a specific build.

This is kind of veering offtopic, but tbh the first time I heard about these discord servers was with Phil's latest podcast. Wonder if that's a me problem or lack of communication/publicity.
