How's it going all!

So, the new set of challenges came out a few days ago and I am having trouble understanding what to do and how to achieve it.

It is the "Bonus Press Button Again" challenge where you have to Earn 1 Counter ECM Locked Damage.

I've Narc'ed ECM mechs, been in range with ECM disrupt on while they got hit and still nothing.

Any tips on how to complete this? Thank you!

You need to counter enemy ECM and that mech who has ECM on him needs to get hit by someone else lock on missiles.

I got it from using a combination of ECM, NARC and UAV.

I was reading some old posts about this and it has some issue with deciding who is doing that countering, for example if someone with LRM also has TAG, it will count as them countering that ECM, not you.

Best thing seems to be just bring all these anti ECM things all those probes and drones and hope someone brings their LRM.

Frustrating. I've done five matches so far in which it is absolutely beyond a doubt that i've countered someone's ECM and they have been struck with missles, yet it still marks as incomplete.

Does the ECM need to be set to disrupt or counter?

There's some suspicion the challenge isn't implemented correctly. But otherwise yes. Best bet is to drop as a pair with a friend, bring both lock missiles and spotting equipment, and try to help each other out.

It should be in counter, thats why they call it "Press button" challenge

Does this not complete if you counter ECM and do locked damage yourself? I have a Shadowcat with ECM, BAP and Streaks. I countered the ECM on a Timberwolf, locked my streaks and hit him. Does that not count?

Definitely doesn't work if you do it yourself.

What do you expect? They've been wailing on LRMs with the nerf bat for years and laughing about it.
Do you expect people to take LRMs? Of course the challenge is going to be hard.

It definitely doesn't work with UAVs. You get a "UAV locked damage" shown at the match performance screen. Still struggling...

I got it with clan active probe. No need for ECM (not played ECM for several weeks so has to be CAP).
Then I guess is a mater of luck somenone hits with LRM.

I've just decided to ignore this portion of the event. Not worth losing my hair over a cockpit item.

I can confirm it works with CAP, in a match with 5 NCT-Bs mine had no ECM just Active Probe. Just took so many days and half a tier downwards to finally get the counter-ecm-locked-dmg.

Yeah, it works with anything that can break ECM for lockon weapons. I got it while doing the missile damage bit with my ATM MDD, someone locked and fired on the same guy that I was shooting.

It definitely does. I got it last night in a streak kitfox yoloing into an ECM Fafnir from the side.

Enemy ECM has to be on and working, your ECM has to counter theirs. So when you hit J their ECM needs to get crossed out. If it's already crossed out it doesn't work. If it doesn't get crossed out at all it doesn't work.
When your ECM crossed out their ECM lock them and shoot them with streaks and do damage.

Build was KitFox G /w ECM, Light Tag, Active Probe, 4xStreak2s, 3xLaser AMS. A couple swapped omnipods.

im not sure but i think you can also use a ppc. just blast away at ecm mechs until you get lucky.

Weird, I tried a long time with a RVN with 3 UAVs until I got the "UAV Locked Damage" on the end screen,
but that didn't give me the event reward. Is it possible you were also donning an active probe or ecm?
