Hi guys,

i just run cross this mini serie Hired Steel and it looks good
What do you think? Should PGI make a Mechwarrior animation movie? I mean the main materials is already threre and need only to be set and we need come voices for pilots.

PGI can not make a MechWarrior movie because PGI does not have the movie rights.

Also, they are not a film/animation company.
Making a movie, even a short one, is definitely not "we need come voices for pilots"

PS: the Battletech animated series already exists.

Ever watch the old making of-of old movies? There is a lot more than just getting a voice over/narration to make a movie. I went to college for special fx work and the work is a lot to put it mildly. The closest movies out are the pacific rim ones and the robot jocks.

Fan made is probably the best way to go about it. With all the recent lay offs in game developers being reported on pc gamer I'm sure there is a lot to hire if you had the budget.

its happened in other shows made for "modern" audiences. thing is when you make a nostalgia piece, your customers are the old beard wielding nerds, not some tween with unpronounceable pronouns.

The best way to cover the answer to this. I would highly suggest looking up Harmony Gold (i know i know...i said that which shall not be named.)

They are a blood sucking lifeless company that likes to take people to court over perceived copywrite infrigements. They are the reason the whole "unseen" saga happened back in the day.

After PGI went to court with them and handed them a solid L it was determined that Harmony Gold really only has rights to movies and similar media ....distribution i think? Basically they would be the biggest hurdle for a movie/show i think.

Then Topps owns another side of the IP as well which I cant recall off the top of my head.

(yes I could look all this up and probably share it, but quite frankly I don't have the time right now.)

TL:DR.....The rights of IP for Battletech as a whole are broken across multiple companies and it would be a legal nightmare to pull off. Especially with Harmony Gold in the mix.

Micros*ft is about to own Activision outright, thus finally bringing BattleTech under one roof?

It would finally be possible to push for good BattleTech movie(s), and eventually even TV/streaming episode series to help widen the fanbase. A fanbase also help drive merchandise sales.

Just look at what the Star Wars / Star Trek ecosystem did.

Also look at what the movies did.
The first Pacific Rim movie almost single-handedly created a cult following to this day, 10+ years after this movie!
A good movie, with characters fleshed out. It's not just the mech machines. It's the characters, plot, suspense, etc.
(I feel the second Pacific Rim movie was not so great--also a lesson in contrast. A series killer actually).

Update: Pacific Rim apparently has its own N*tflix TV series now...

A good cult movie kickstarts a new generation of BattleTech fanbase, enabling the hiring of an army story/lore writers, eventually allowing for regular TV/streaming episodes, and the virtuous cycle ensues...
