MAP ADJUSTMENTS
RIVER CITY
  • Domination Circle moved and Radius increased to 600m
  • South spawns adjusted

STORE UPDATES
  • Fixed hero MC prices for Crael and Bolt (we won’t be retroactively changing any purchases or taking away MC for players who bought these at a discount)
  • Released Longbow for MC (Spitfire is a Legend and will release at a later date for MC)
  • Released Blight and Gorewing for MC

BUG FIXES
  • Fixed a bug where Hashké, Abaddon, Warlord, and Kasai show as different mechs in their skill trees and could load other builds of their chassis variants
  • Fixed a bug with the Stone Rhino where decals would shift after you placed them on the mech (we plan on expanding this fix to the Longbow in the future)
  • Fixed new weapon appearances on multiple mechs where they would call inconsistent geometry. We will continue to work on these bugs as they arise, though players can still use the weapons the same if the weapons do call incorrect barrels.
CLAN BEAM LASER
  • Heat scale (ghost heat) mechanics now function properly and can no longer be circumvented by a delayed firing pattern. The penalty no longer applies as a heat spike and generated heat per seconds penalty is applied properly.
MAGSHOT AND AP GAUSS RIFLE AMMO
  • Magshot and AP Gauss ammo no longer cause internal damage if they are destroyed causing an ammo explosion event
SKILL TREE/MAGAZINE CAPACITY
  • Magazine capacity nodes now give a +4 bonus to PAC/8 (instead of +2) equivalent to two extra shots per node

Patch Files (Direct Download)
To make the patching process easier for players with limited download caps, we'll be providing direct download links for the patch file(s) that comprise this patch. This will allow you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, for manual injection into the MWO patcher through a Patch Cache folder.

Aside from allowing you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, on another connection, there are no additional benefits to performing the patch this way; the patching process itself will be the same.

This direct patch download process will only work for players running the standalone client. It does not apply to players running MWO through Steam.

  • Download the above file(s)
  • For sake of ease, we recommend creating a dedicated folder for the patch file(s), such as 'MWO Patch Cache'
  • You do not need to unzip or unpack the patch file(s)
  • Launch the MWO Portal
  • Select the three horizontal lines in the top left of the Portal Window
  • Choose the 'Specify Patch File Cache' option
  • In the field that appears, paste or enter the location in which you saved the patch file(s) and hit OK
  • For example, C:\Users\<username>\Documents\MWO Patch Cache
  • Click the blue Patch button
  • The launcher will now check the Patch Cache folder you defined. If it locates the required patch files, it will unpack and use those files to apply the patch
  • Once the patch is complete, launch the game

I must say that I have expected to see stronger side torso protection quirks for the Black Hawk-KU. Of course, those quirks can always be changed later.

Can we see the screenshots of pod space for the Blackhawk? Also, I'm guessing the size of this mech will be along the lines of the Catapult. If it's bigger than that, it might cause problems with survivability.

And a -50% jam chance? A UAC/5 would practically be a rotary cannon!

Torso quirks for the KU are insufficient. Otherwise good patch. I like the buffs for the proto-AC's. They were sorely needed.

Just for the record, the Clan Black Hawk has just +10 structure quirk on its side torsos. So +15 structure and +7 armor on the Black Hawk-KU is a quite significant boost.

Let us wait and see how the 'Mech works in the live game.

I can't wait play with the Black Hawk KU once it comes out.

I want to take this time to educate people about IS OmniMechs, both lore-based and the MWO interpretation so that you can understand why it's like this.

In BT lore:
After the Battle of Luthien in 3052, the Draconis Combine would gain tremendous spoils of war from fighting both Clans Nova Cat and Smoke Jaguar. This included both Clan equipment and mechs. From this, the Combine gained OmniMech Technology, producing the Raptor the same year before the Battle of Tukayyid. It was created in response to the Invading Clans in an effort to counter them. OmniTech would later spread after Tukayyid with other Successor States following suit during and after the Clan Invasion.

Real explanation:
Inner Sphere Omnis originated in the book Technical Readout: 3058 in 1995, while the PC Game, Mechwarrior 3 came out in 1999 by Hasbro boosting their popularity. As for the other Mechwarrior 3 mechs: Black Hawk KU (under the name Black Hawk), Sunder, Avatar, Strider and Owens would later be reused, while retaining their artwork from the books. So you can see where the game took inspiration from the books.

Left(Game), Right (Books)
Posted Image

PGI's interpretation:
The reason why PGI is reusing the Nova for the Black Hawk KU is for three reasons: To follow the lore of the BHK being an IS version of the Nova, to test the waters of IS OmniMechs and to save resources on art due to having a small crew managing the game. As much as we would love to see other IS Omnis come in like the Templar, Sunder, Hauptmann, Men Shen or any other Omni, we must remember that the Black Hawk KU is a stepping stone to them. So patience is a virtue.

So I hope that these explanations help clear up the explanation of why the Black Hawk KU is in the game for those who don't understand why or have little understanding about the mech.

we'll see. the nova's geometry isn't great, but it will be relatively small for a 60 ton mech. either way, it's better to play it safe with the initial values than to potentially release something in an OP state and then having people upset when it gets nerfed later.

You are wrong:

"As for the other Mechwarrior 3 mechs: Black Hawk KU and Perseus would later be renamed into the Nova and Orion respectively."

MechWarrior 3 had no Black Hawk-KU and no Perseus.

MechWarrior 3 had Black Hawk (Clan) and Orion (Inner Sphere).

Therefore, it was impossible to rename "Black Hawk KU and Perseus into the Nova and Orion respectively".

The word "Black Hawk" for Clan Nova mechs is still there, on the bottom of the webpage for Clan Invasion I.
https://mwomercs.com/clans

(I think they had to change from "Black Hawk" to "Nova" designation ingame due to potential copyright infringement issues. Someone correct me if I'm incorrect; it's been a long time ago!)

hmm. Feels like the Black Hawk will be a Glass Cannon. Not enough Quirks for protecting the weak XL Engine. But lets see...

It's only the IS faction's ERPPC with speed buff, velocity up to 2400 m/s (from 1900 m/s).

Clan ERPPC remains the same (unchanged).

I am really curious about the buff to ERPPC velocity?
this is an underperforming weapon? really?

about ppc, are you serious!? it needs to be nerfed in turn, first they removed the zero damage at point-blank range, now reduce the heat and increase the velocity, this weapon already hits the point without smearing the damage, does not require ammunition and has a long range

I'm guessing the size of this mech will be along the lines of the Catapult. If it's bigger than that, it might cause problems with survivability.

It's gonna be the same size as a normal nova

imo black hawk armour quirks are fine it's an inner sphere 60 tonner with the armour of a 60 tonner with those quirks on top of that and the hitboxes of the nova with decent mobility as well so it's survivability should be completely fine
