Alpha Strike! Extra Spicy!

That looks like a perfectly good Battlemech being melted down into commemorative ingots. =D

May we invite you to peruse the numerous MWO changes in the past few years:

MWO Patch logs since 2021 (aka Cauldron changes):

https://mwomercs.com/game/patch-notes

HSL Quirk List: much more comprehensive than a few years back!

Nep's New mechs and build ideas:
https://docs.google....ihUp7zDCUw/edit

BTW, this is in addition to the new mechs, new weapons, and new maps that martian had already alluded to).

Edit: Oh, and we are now at the infancy of the age of: IS Omnimechs! Posted Image

How in God's name is the Manul an S-tier hero mech? Only thing I can think of is its omnipods being used in conjunction with the Ambush for laservomit with god mounts.

On its own I just down see it as more than okay. Those quirks are nothing to write home about.

If you can't look past the fact that we have new weapons, new mechs and IS OmniMechs all because of a single mechpack then:

You won't be missed.

Well, his pushback was in bad taste - but might they not leave if they see the asinine post he was replying to, as well?

The spirit of Ray Charles is never in bad taste my friend I just go by the relevance of the lyrics, "Hit the Road Jack, and don't your come back no more". It's my way of saying good riddance to them and there shouldn't be a future in MWO for them with an attitude like that. But the thing is, that you've got players who don't want to look beyond a mechpack to see the other changes. They want to find petty reasons to complain about and leave. Now I do agree that PGI does need to change in certain areas and they have been proving me wrong on what they having been changing.

Let me quote myself:

View PostWill9761, on 05 May 2024 - 12:33 PM, said:

I have to say, I have been enjoying the steady pace of MWO in regards to content. While I can't say anything about weapon balance since that always changes patch after patch, I enjoy the amount of stuff we've been getting. It's always nice to see new equipment, maps and mechs as a way to have a breath of fresh air instead of seeing the exact same stuff all the time. My main problem with this game was the stagnant pace its been in for a decade now and the lack of change. But at least things are changing for the better at this rate. I'm just glad I've been proven wrong with this and I hope PGI keeps up this pace because it makes me excited to play MWO again. It's a lot better than being a whiny, cynical, ingrate who moans about free content and wants to keep MWO down by living in the past and refusing change, that's for sure.

If I could tell you a list of things I never would have thought we could get, but was proven wrong, here would be my list.

I never would have thought that:
We would get the Hatchetman (despite lacking melee)
We would get new maps
We would get Jihad-era weapons
We would get new equipment like Shields and Supercharger
We would get IS OmniMechs

Are there still areas where PGI needs to change? Absolutely, but it's a step in the right direction and I'm happy that they are making those changes. Which is why I can look past a single mechpack. Now I'm actually glad to be playing this game again.

As for KursedVixen, I've learned to ignore him. He is a Clan fanatic and a troll who doesn't want to see change in MWO unless it benefits his faction. He has already gotten on my bad side plenty of times and I'm not gonna reply to someone who wants to keep MWO down by not accepting change. Besides, Kursed wants to go to other people and instigate fights and I'm not gonna give time to someone who is set in their ways.

He complained about IS OmniMechs without good reasons:

View PostKursedVixen, on 28 June 2023 - 07:17 AM, said:

Due to how the balance in this game works IS omni's will break the game

not to mention other issues that will need fixed before we should even consider this.

Now we have the Black Hawk KU, and it's not as bad as people led them to believe. It also shows that IS Omnis are not the boogeymen that should be feared by everyone.

He called out the Haske and Abaddon for not having the Clan Coyote and Clan Hell's Horses colors respectively:

View PostKursedVixen, on 17 September 2023 - 08:14 PM, said:

could use some clan coyote colors to go with it. or hell horse colros for the other.

Which they do by the way.

And the biggest complaint of all, he whines about the IS getting more weapons than the clans:
Posted Image

In lore, there is a reason for that: Salvage. The Clanners thought that they were so big and bad that they could roll through the Inner Sphere and expected them to play by their rules. But the IS didn't, instead they tricked them and beat them at their own game on Tukayyid. As a consequence of the Clan's big willy attitude, their tech would trickle down to the Inner Sphere: from weapons, OmniMechs and Battle Armor. It's a reason the IS has things like IS OmniMechs, the IS Standard Armor, and the rest of the ER Laser family, Streak SRM Family and the LBX and Ultra Autocannon family.

Honestly, I'm all for discussing disagreements and implementations of certain weapons and equipment, but I can't do anything with a BT Purist who doesn't want to listen.

I'm hoping that PGI add these Bullshark Skins in MWO:Posted Image
Here's what I see from these skin patterns.
War Ghoul could make a good replacement for Phranken.
Wet Work could make a good Default scheme for the Bullshark.
Goblin could be a good fit for a Sherman Scheme
Deathless could work as an equivalent for the Crusader Scheme.

As for the Void Killer and Gun Hag, I got nothing. It would be cool to see them in though.

Can we get to hear the war horn before the release day? Or do we just have to hang out near people who have bought it and listen real hard?

Awesome! Thanks for sharing the warhorn!

I've been theory-crafting in MechDB as well. The -2 is the one I'm excited for, and other than the binary-binary build you have above, I'm also thinking an HPPC build with a 6-and-4 medium laser punch. I like em hot. Posted Image

Indeed! I even reverse-engineered the BSK-M3 and BSK-MAZ in preparation. Turns out they're both running endo steel and XL 285 engines!

The BSK-M is a little slower than that, but that's fine; it's not enough of a difference for me to worry about changing it after everything else that matches the MAZ. The BSK-1 is running exactly that, so I don't have to spend as many C-Bills trying to reproduce the BSK-M3 on it.

EDIT: Turns out I can't retain the pre-order page's information for some reason; both the BSK-1 and BSK-M have 285 engines. But they are slower than 285-rated 95-tonners are expected to be on the table... (54km/h, which translates to 3 Walking MP)

It's apparently one of those odd things about the conversion to MWO, I guess.

EDIT 2: Turns out I also can't count hardpoints. The BSK-1 needs 2 missile hardpoints on each side torso for a reproduction of the BSK-M3 to happen, because the BSK-M3 had four LRM-5s. Damn.

Ah well.

Awhile ago they desynced engines reducing the speed of many mechs, this could possibly be why.

They're slower than tabletop because they don't round up. You move at 150% your calculated base walk speed. When your base tabletop movement is 4, that means 6. When your base tabletop movement is 3... that's 4.5 in MWO, but its 5 in tabletop.

Your mech's speed in MWO is (16.8) x (EngineRating / MechTonnage). In Battletech, Rating/Tonnage is always an even number, and top speed is 1.5x that. They always round that one up to the next whole number so it makes an even number of hexes per game turn. No need to do that here.

so why is the dire wolf as slow as a annihilator? it use to go 50+kph

also what about running?
