Yes, let's. Conspiracy theories about 'the devs hate/love [class/weapon/faction] so that's why this change happened' are a dime a dozen - and always fact-free claims with only bias confirmation to back them up. Shifting the focus of your conspiracy theories to the Cauldron instead doesn't make it different - and when someone who's privy to conversations within the Cauldron tells you that the overall group doesn't have a preference, you actually have to offer evidence, rather than accusations, if you want to demonstrate that he's lying. "Let's be honest" indeed!

Concerning just the next patch - is it a possibility to get drop sizes reduced back to 8v8?
Can't speak for other folks here, but when the search for the match lasts about half as long as the match I have much less interest in hitting launch on the next match.
The matches that I have dropped for this month have all come with 3-4 minute waits with medium mechs and one light - searching was around 30-40% of the non-mechlab time of log-in sessions. A couple were a little faster re-drops with the last set of players, otherwise the percentage was closer to 50% searching to match time.
As much as I enjoy the 8v8 dynamic a little more, that's
very unlikely to happen, for several reasons:
- All of the quirks and weapon balance is done for 12v12. Reducing the number of targets has a lot of knock-on effects.
- People want to play with their friends, and that means groups. The smaller the overall team, the greater the effect a team can have, and reducing maximum premade sizes limits that ability, pushing away players who are used to dropping as a lance.
- It's not a popular enough idea in the player base. We've had trial events, and a vote thread, but opinions were pretty split.
With all that, it's unfortunately almost certain that 8v8 isn't in the cards.
