Whats Up With All The Cheating Lately?

Yeah, I know, I'm a noob, I don't check for UAVs, blah blah... but seriously, is there anything beeing done in terms of anti-cheat?

unofficial answer: lack of staff + wide array of cheat tools = probibly no cheating at all.
even the suggestion that cheating exists is enough to get a plethora of "get gud" comments from the masses (many from cheaters).
cheating really doesn't bug me that much in terms of how it impacts my game. between cheeters and wait times, i think id rather face the cheaters if i could make the other one go away.

It's barely worth the teeth grinding. What kind of pathetic dips#!t cheats in a game like this anyway? Next match.

Sounds like you're not really enjoying this game when playing for rankings... how about don't care about your rankings, and just have some fun? (Like me!)
I think of everyone else's efforts as "best effort" and "made in good faith".
Someone killing the enemy you are shooting at is not "kill steal"; everyone's just trying to win this game.
Someone making an amazing shot to kill you may not be someone "che ating", but that they are really that good!
- - - - - - - - - -
Rince and repeat; you most likely won't encounter that same player in your next few games...
Just enjoy your game!

People can ping you with the "Target Spotted" and makes you still visible on their radar after they lose lock.
Assuming your lock is lost, and there isn't someone else looking at you.
Additionally, 90% of the time you can make accurate guesses as to where enemy forces are, where they will go, and where a given weight class will be after X Time has passed based entirely on speed, popular locations for fights, and build type. The other 10% I'd chalk more up to groups having your same mindset, and acting specifically as counters.
To put this into perspective, an Urbanmech running at sub-100 speeds in Frozen City became quite upset that he "Died out of nowhere" when I was doing firemoth shennanigans and slammed 8 HSL into his back after I zipped around with ECM.
Rather than accepting that the dude moves slowly and had his vision locked forward, not checking his sides, he insists that the firemoth MUST have been CHEATING and then proceeded to hyperscrutinize fluctuations in ping as suspect.

This is why I really wish radar was just shared amongst the team and nothing, even ECM, stopped that. Would make PUGs a bit more bearable and I don't have to quick switch between numerous targets on scouts to tell the team where the enemy is.

If you feel that some player is cheating, report him.
You could contact PGI if you wish:
- You should list the match ID, map, game mode, that player's name and 'Mech, etc.
- Attaching screenshots or videos showing such cheater in action would be helpful too.

This gets REALLY bad on HPG where I assume that there will probably be at least one red on the wall watching the ramps, someone takes a peek and doesn't take a slug/beam so I go "okay, I'll peek and see if there's anyone I can shoot at anyw- aaaaand I took a Gauss slug from the guy on the wall the first peeker didn't say anything about." Or multiple on wall, the first guy takes a slug, I go "okay, Gauss on cooldown, I'll take a shot and oh he had a friend and I took a shot from his friend that first guy didn't mention cool" or similar situations where someone sees something over a hill, around a corner and could say "not safe, don't go" despite not being able to red box all the dangers therein and getting way more than I bargained for on a peek etc especially when they get away scot free with the peek and you get leveled
Some of it is assumed risk but other times it's like "you could have said something bro", it turns into waiting for someone else to be the first victim at times
Some people are good about saying "D4 hot" or "2 on wall" etc tbf

I came back a couple of months ago after a break of a few years. Why I came back? I have no idea

These people exist unfortunately but they're not really ruining the game that much because decent piloting and team work in this game will always be a greater advantage than any possible hack.

In game mouse sensitivity to 0.1 plus mouse DPI switch can do wonders esp if you map the fire key to the keyboard so you don't bork your aim with the trigger pull. As for ballistics prediction, familiarity with a given weapon gives you a good feel for the lead. After a couple matches in Ishiyama with the Warthog I was actually pulling off some okay peekshots with APGauss and with more practice I might have really started going to town if I cared to, I just kind of wanted to slog through the rewards requirements.

Seriously? I thought it was a no-no to turn it off because you can hide it or hide the firing line.
I'd like a guide for the guide if you don't mind.

the dumbest cheatcusation thrown my was was when i got my ultraviolet for what was then maximum ballistic spam. someone on the other team said that i hacked the game to prevent my uac2s from jamming. i was running cac2s. he couldn't fathom why anyone would use something other than a uac2, like superior range or less heat for maximum sustain. even when i clued him in on this fact he doubled down on his hackusation.
then every now and again you encounter somone on your team who will snap-shoot at a the center of a targeting bracket even though there is an obvious obstruction in the way, like a giant mountain. i see this a lot. people cant be that stupid, but an aimbot can. and its not your usual match start weapon testing, but in the heat of combat. you dont fill up your heat bar by firing multiple alphas into a mountain at point blank range when the enemy could attack at any moment.
ive also seen some lag switching in the wild. thats a lot more obvious.

my mouse has this feature and its quite nifty. not a cheat. macros are also not a cheat. i only recognize lag switch, aim bot, and wall hack as cheats. having fancy controls or a user.cfg is not cheating.
i also used to play a lot of ww2 flight sims, where you have no lead indication, you are firing from a moving position at a moving target, both moving fast. you also have the physics of aerodynamic flight that makes aiming difficult. also you are using a joystick since a mouse doesn't fly well. mwo is a point and click adventure game in comparison.

Here.
I have no idea how embeds work so you will have to settle for a YT link.
Note: I don't use this, because I think trees are pretty and I actually don't care enough to put in that much effort I guess. Most if not all very good players don't NEED this in order to manhandle QP.
