MWO Comp Championship Series update

The MechWarrior World Championship Series 2025 has officially ended, with a new champion crowned!

The Coalition made it through the entire tournament without dropping a single series and crushed their competition to make it to the upper bracket finals! Vigilance lost an early series to REVENANTS, but were able to power through the lower bracket to get their vengeance and took down REVENANTS in a grudge match for the lower bracket finals, and moved back to the upper bracket for an exciting best of 7 against The Coalition! The finals took place with some nice close matches, but The Coalition would not be denied and they were crowned champions! Congratulations to all members of The Coalition for a job well done! Thank you to every team that participated and fantastic work to everyone that participated and all the hard work they put in! And thank you for Starwolfe, Zonaron, and the rest of the casting crew for showing this live to everyone!

The final standings are:

  • Grand Champions: The Coalition
  • 2nd: VIGILANCE
  • 3rd: REVENANTS-10th Lyran Guards RCT
  • 4th: Clan Crossfire
  • 5th: FJRD FIESTA
  • 6th: 228 Reapers
  • 7th: Mantra
  • 8th: mechwarrior6dotcom
  • 9th: 2d20 Salvage Crew
  • 10th: KDCM UnderwaterHandymen
  • 11th: -ELO-
  • 12th: Kastarion's Guards

This year’s Champion’s Choice (Official Selection) award goes to Bows3r. Bows3r earns the prestigious Champion’s Choice In-Game Cockpit Item, awarded to the most valuable player across Top 12 matches, as selected by the Series Officials. It was an incredibly tight pool this year, with standout performances across the board. This year’s Champion’s Choice (People's Selection) award goes to Chickenman919. Chicken was awarded the MVP by general selection as the most valuable player in the final!

To catch any of the matches check them out on YouTube at: https://www.youtube.com/@MWOLeagues

Equipment Changes

  • Small Cockpit now adds 1 extra ton to mechs. This is to line it up with the tabletop stats of the equipment and prepare for future variants.

Map Changes

  • Moved Theta cap point on Tourmaline Desert

  • Replaced AWS-8Q with COR-7A on Canyon Network training grounds

Weapon Changes

  • Removed spread on RAC2 and RAC5

  • Increased IS LBx 5 cooldown to 1.25 (from 1.15)

  • Increased Clan LBx 5 cooldown to 1.25 (from 1.15)

  • Increased IS SRM Artemis Ammo to 150 from 120 per ton

  • Rocket Launcher Rework

    • As the player holds fire, Rocket Launchers will fire 8 missiles per second. A mouse tap will only fire 1 missile

    • Rocket Launcher 10/15/20 comes with 48/88/127 rockets per launcher. This is not impacted by ammo quirks

    • Rocket Launcher cooldown: 0.125. This is not impacted by cooldown quirks

    • Rocket Launcher heat: 0.375

    • Rocket Launcher damage per missile: 1

    • Rocket Launcher Spread: 3.75

    • Rocket Launcher 10/15/20 ghost heat limit: 3/2/2

    • Rocket Launchers no longer ghost heat with SRMs and MRMs

Rocket Launchers have been a polarizing weapon, their primary use serving as a griefing one shot weapon and are relatively useless beyond that compared to other weapons. This change turns them into a more reliable secondary weapon with more longevity in exchange for a more moderate damage output.

Mech Changes

  • Adjusted Corsair side torso hitboxes to reduce the chances of rear hit registration from the front or side on variants with lower arms

  • Updated trial Dire Wolf loadout to use LBx 5 instead of AC5

  • Marauder Blight now has a Small Cockpit

Nice, an Incubus partial with a Shield. It's cool that they are drawing inspiration from the Incubus II for this Legendary Mech.

I don't like the continuing precedent of making new weapons behind paywalls.

Naga is a mech. It'll be out for cbills in time, which means everyone would be able to use it. They are also planning on making Cbill variant mechs that have both Arrow IV and Railgun, which then, in turn, will become available to the public in due time. Aka, not pay walled. The legend mechs? Sure, yes, I agree. But naga isnt a legend.

So is the Incubus Legend going to continue the trend of the Partial wings being... really bad in general?

It doesn't have ECM, so it can't hide.

And it doesn't have the bulk of a heavier chassis, so it can't tank a shot.

It's got 4E in one arm, so it's going to have centurion syndrome. Worse, because it uses DoT Weapons so it can't even do the shoot and twist as well.

And if Partial wing mechanics continue as is, it won't even have vertical agility to get out of bad situations. Nor does it have fall damage negation quirks ( Unless that's inbuilt to the wings now?)

Like I really want to like it, I love having more options to play as lights, but, eh?

"Rocket Launchers have been a polarizing weapon, their primary use serving as a griefing one shot weapon and are relatively useless beyond that compared to other weapons."

The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, “It is done!”

My work here is done. Now I can rest.

The entire weapon system of the arrow, along with the railgun, is only available if you spend money. Who knows how long until these promised cbill versions will be out. 6 months like legends? The railgun wasn't exactly ineffective. Thunderbolts weren't locked for 6 months behind mechs you had to pay for. Xpl's weren't. Lac's weren't. Sb gauss wasn't. And so on.

If you can only get it by paying money, it's a paywall. Just because they say they will remove that paywall at a later date doesn't mean it isn't one.

you guys forgot melee again!!!... PGI I said you forg..you cant hear me never mind...

curious about the new Incubus

not sure about the RAC5/RAC2 adjustment, to me it makes sense that a rotary weapons is very accurate at first and then looses accuracy as one keeps on firing non-stop but thats just me.

very eager to try the rocket launcher, so they finally decided to try and make them worthwhile eh?

"blight now has a small cockpit" ...ok... just the blight?

again congratulations to The Coalition for the ir victory!

So the SMN-G only loses 5% laser range, but the Oxide gets its entire identity reworked Posted Image

Could we at least get the JR7-D speed quirk upped to 10% then? Nobody uses it and it's way more fragile than the Oxide.

BLR-6C? I hope this isn't a typo and that it's really not a heat quirk nerf for the BLR-2C.

The change to rockets should be interesting to see and implement.

To an extent I roll with it, as it seems like they don't hold out for all that long before disseminating new toys into the gen-pop. I suspect one of the things they are doing is determining from field use how many CB to price for acquiring a given weapon and its ammo. Looking forward to the content creators putting up some wicked Arrow footage!

And also to be fair, this change with the rockets sort of makes it a new weapon, which also will be something to watch in action, something akin to a missile version of a RAC.

Sadly, I dont think that will ever be in mwo, or mercs. Their reasoning for new chassis are 'what does it add'

While I agree that this incubus will probably be bad
The spectre and Apache are both really, really good. You just need to play them a certain way.

And if Partial wing mechanics continue as is, it won't even have vertical agility to get out of bad situations. Nor does it have fall damage negation quirks ( Unless that's inbuilt to the wings now?)

Another reasoning is the fact that said weapons are too large to even be normal equipment. Naga makes sense, however. The arrow IV system is locked onto the chassis itself. If you hate it, then okay. But it makes money, and they still balance it.

Summoner was overperforming, Oxide was doing too good in comp, but meh in QP. Other Jenner are fine.

Yay, changes that looks mostly decent for once.
Kind of wished the lost -5 FBStructure on Summoner stays on some of the variants like Prime, C, or B's So8 though but whatever, it was pretty silly anyway.

1t sCockpit is a bit annoying but reasonable.
RL changed to being stream rocketpods might be interesting I guess.
MASC Commando losing heat quirk kind of stupid since to overheat on it is pretty much on the target/enemy team's fault at priority for letting it shoot that much with its small lasers.

Spectre buff is cool, though I would've asked for general heat quirk replacing the pulse laser ones instead of +top speed since it flies long enough for the JJ heat to be notable.

Hover Incubus seems kind of whatever.
