You are right, a few days ago, the goons raided my village, burned down our farms and took away our women and lifestock. I was forced to do digital labor, sitting in a dark dungeon, writing pro-goon propaganda. luckily the fat neckbeard guard, drank too much mountain dew and now i have a few precious seconds of freedom where i can tell the truth.

It's true, goons hacked the EVE server so only they can blob the way they blob, and only they can scam the way they scam... and they took the families of the WoT Devs hostage so as to get an endless supply of goldmunition with which to harrass the average players, while cursing their enemies with zero-damage criticals. I don't know what they are planning for MW:O, but it's probably even more sinister.

I have to leave now, i smell cheeto dust, the guard is returning.

Our attempts at PR have consisted of ugly signatures, adopting a hated part of Battletech canon as our mascot, and ridiculing people that act like an organised group of players will be a terrible thing to happen to this game. It certainly was terrible for EvE, Call of Duty and ever other game we've had an organised presence in, and as we all know those games have failed utterly because someone said "SQUAWK" in them.

Quite funny.

But to be honest, I don't get all the fuss in here. We got Goons who want to lead the ConCap, we got people who want Metro. In the end, Community Warfare means fighting about borderworlds as mercs and some mid-level planets as factions, while certain events will be in the hands of the Devs and already written BT fluff. So none of you will be leader of the ConCap because it has a couse dictated to a certain degree by canon. Whoever leads the Goons and Metro should be viewed as capellan generals commanding different groups of the capellan forces. That would fit best and I hope there will be reasonable cooperation.

Then we got some Goons overreacting about "bad" Developers. Metro postet a statement that the Devs won't let anyone break the game. Maybe he could have been more general or diplomatic on this one, but the question in the topic was directly pointed at the Goons. That means, even a more generalized answer would point at them, no matter what. What I don't get there is the behaviout of the Goons who always say they do not want to take over or break MWO. So why now this hostility to the Devs? Why don't you keep to your earlier words an support this statement? Something like "we don't want to break the game, so we support this". No you start to rail against the Devs. That does not strengthen your position.


After saying all that I want to make clear that I have nothing against the Goons. I played a game against squawking people once. They fought hard and it was a good fight. This is not EVE, this is not WoT. So stop ******** around about those games.

And concerning honor - in nearly every game I played, my enemies tried to shoot me in the back, leg me or get me when I had a shutdown in my Jenner. There are some missileboats, Gaussopults, 7 med laser Awesomes. I have no problems with that. The community as a whole plays harder and I like that. Just tell me, what will the Goons do that is more honorless or disturbing to "the old guard"?

Out of all the Goons I played games with over the years (Goon WoW, Goon Guildwars, Goon TF, Goon EVE) I can't recall anyone exploiting on some massive scale.

Seems to me they're just Battletech ****** like everyone else who just happen to post on Somethingawful.

Maybe I should pay another 10$ and get back on there I kinda miss the gun nut Goons. Think I still have my firing range Goon patch on my pistol bag I'll have to check.

Haha, what? When have Goons ever, as a group, taken part in exploiting and hacking in a game? I'm sure that individual goons have exploited and hacked, but saying that "goons" as a group do that is just objectively false.

I never thought I'd be agreeing with a goon, but yeah. I've got no problem with doing what it takes to win in the context of a game. I'd even go so far as to say infiltrating a TS server is fair game.

Only a couple things are outta bounds, namely: CRASHING TS servers, using exploits and hacks, and teamkilling.

And teamkilling is only on the list because MWO is Lance vs Lance. If it was a bit more freeform, and both sides could bring all the mechs they wanted, then hiding traitor agents in an opposing force is perfectly valid.

As far as the other two go, thats abusing out of game resources, and is basically cheating. In the context of the game though, anything goes, why not?

Don't get me wrong, some goons really rub me the wrong way, but so do some non-goons, so whatevs.

Here's the thing, you guys play the game, fight in the game, rock yours and others worlds here in the game and it's all good. You guys revert to exploiting holes in the game for you own short term advantages and it's all bad. Hell, you want to be bug chasers when the game goes full release, that's fine chase bugs to your hearts content, just don't use them to fight with, file a report for the damn things and get on with the real fighting!

Yes, there's hoards of you, I/we know, do I do we care? Nope. Yes, you've left a stink in some of the other places you've been gaming wise but how about this, in this place you just choose to fight! Fight hard and show us all how bad *** you really are as mech pilots [Robojox?] and as a team. Ultimately, that is all I'm interested in.
