gonna risk the ire of the entire forum..... not loving it. Forearm pods need to be a lot larger. And there are other things just not quite working for me. Still looks cool, but it looks like Alex redoing Shimmering Swords Marauder...... which I never loved, either.

On the plus, the torso looks pretty good, has a vibe that reminds me of the old Marauder IIC art

and the legs are mostly good..... though the feet...not loving. But that shows the kind of arm proportions I would prefer.

Now pardon me whilst I go put on my fireproof suit......

Um, I think it is Shimmering Sword's Marauder. CGL just commisioned him to redo all of the classic unseen mechs because they got tired of HG BS regarding their old art, the new Warhammer has been all over the Internet for a few weeks now.

It looks like... ...well, kinda like a Mad Cat, but with the shoulder missiles removed and replaced with the AC from the Shadow Hawk...

But we already have the Shadow Cat! :o

... the Mad Cat was in part based on the Murader (the Mad in Mad Cat) and yes, the base model has a AC/5 like the Shadow Hawk. if it looked like a AC/20, I would throw a copy of TRO: 3025 at someone :D

I on the other hand loved SS's take on the Marauder, yet I still have a bit of a hard time with THIS new one. It is the cockpit, the hardest part of the mech to "get right".

Could be more "pointy' in front.

My only issue with the new MAD is the arms look too close together. Impossibly close. I don't think it can physically translate into a 3D model. Have them canted out slightly on either side, and it wouldn't look as odd.

I'm pitching the humour too subtle for some, still, I see.

You've got a template for that already? :)

I would prefere to have stronger arms and slimmer Torso, more the style of the recent cover with the unseen for one of the catalyst books ("mercanaries" is it? ).

With how the mechlab changes appearance of weapons depending on what you've got installed...not really hopeful on this.

That said, looks amazing what Flying Debris and Shimmering Sword can do with the unseen. Can't wait to see the rest done up in concept art so we can finally move past all that old mess.

Imma join you in the flames, because I always hated Shimmering Sword's take on the Marauder. It changed a sleek, alien, gangly 'Mech into something more like the dog from Up. I don't care too much for MWO's redesign either as a result, but noticing that it does actually have a "chin" under the cockpit has softened me a bit from my first impression. It initially looked like the cockpit had nothing under it, as in Shimmering Sword's version. But it does. That makes the torso seem less horizontal, which helps a bit.

Whipped it up last night as soon as I got the image and wanted to crank at least one out. Gonna try to do a few more before Monday.

Just realized this means we'll probably see the Warhammer, Marauder, etc in the new Battletech game by Harebrained Schemes.

SO HYPED RIGHT NOW.

Spoiler

Your color saturation seems to be too high and it looks like you are painting "over" the art. There isn't any of the normal shading that most have, should be an easy fix after you watch a few videos.
Good for your first shot, don't stop.
One of the biggest artist growths I've ever seen is on this forum (GunnaDie's "Noob here" thread).
Never give up! You CAN do it! *Row Row Fight da Powa!*

There is no better place for posting this!

This is very good, specially because it is the first. As Nautilus said, the colors are too saturated, but it should be easy to fix: Take this whole image and add it as a layer to the cleaned mech in the template. Now experiment with the layer effects like, for instance, Soft Light. It should come out more "natural".

Thanks for replying to my post so fast. I see what you guys mean by the saturation and excessive colouring. I have played around with soft light and a few other things.

Spoiler

Also, Marauder hype!

Is that an improvement or is it too washed out now?

Huge improvement!
