I just want to again thank Hayden for starting this whole thread way back when, giving us his amazing re-painted concepts, and giving the rest of us the opportunity to do the same (Some, like Ironhawk, so much better then others, Me) with the tutorials and templates he created and words of encouragement and tips he provided the struggling wanna-bee :-). I went back to the first page and started going through them all again and his total body of work is amazing.

Here's to Hayden, founder of the Re-painted Concept Art feast! We all owe you a great debt of gratitude.

Did someone say they had a Commando template to use? (Maxoconnor was that you?) Would anyone mind sharing the love please?

Great repaints, as always folks. I've got a personal hangup with the Commando's arm weapons, though. The fact that they extend past the fist, just asking to be damaged or destroyed any time the Commando punches something or even tries to pick something up, bothers me a little more every time I see it.

The only time a Commando should be punching is if his weapons are already inoperative.

Given a choice, no one should ever choose to punch instead of firing the SRM-4 or medium laser.

Of course, kicking is a different story ;)...

Here's a very rough one to use (plus the originals and instructions from both Hayden and Cake Bandit on creating them).

I'm in my Commando, and I need to get into a building, grab someone/something that wouldn't react well to getting shot, and carry the cargo away without it getting damaged. I can punch through the wall with my right arm, and have a 50/50 chance of hitting with the fist instead of the SRM launcher, or I can punch with my medium laser, optics first.

I need to pick up a crate that doesn't have handles. I get my right hand fingers under it with some work, and I slam my medium laser into the ground, optics first.

And so on and so forth. It's just not a good placement. Otherwise, I really like this redesign. Shorten the laser to behind the hand, or shift the whole array back so the extra sticks out past the elbow and I'm golden.

Or they retract, or there's nothing to grab anyway (unless it's got a handle and something wicked sharp on the end of it).

Carrying things! That's what infantry is for.
