I see you used my template (credits are welcome). Good repaint. I liked the decals.

Apologies for not stating the initial PNG file was yours in my post - fixed that! I certainly appreciate all your (and others) efforts to make those wonderful files Posted Image

Also, thank you for the notes on the Crab!!

Oh, and nice touch using the Defiance logo on the laser. It makes quite some sense. Posted Image

Heh - I wasn't sure if anyone would notice it Posted Image Thank you again for making those great icons!

Once I get better at this, I will certainly be making ones for the other Corp Sec groups Posted Image

I wish I could give tips instead of just likes Posted Image These are fantastic! Glad you included the saucy 6th ;)

But yes, the colors on that last one feel better suited to an energy drink manufacturer - though it certainly would be distinctive on the battlefield Posted Image

Justin you asked about the King Crab, so I will show you something.

This is an incomplete concept art that came with the email about the Loyalty King Crab (back in December 2014?). The image had several "confetti" in front of it and a missing feet. I managed to clean up a little and to remake the feet with a speed paint screenshot.
Posted Image
I wanted to do a template, but the amount of work necessary to clean it up would be huge.

I'm posting it here so either some crazy talented member can clan it up or we can convince PGI (or Alex Iglesias) to finally release the full, plain concept art.

And here is the obscure Banshee (3S) concept art:

Odann - thank you once again :) That would explain why I really didn't see much art for either of those mechs!

I imagine they will release the new concept art right after someone finishes the template ;)

Does anyone want to try their hand at the Mk.II in more clan colors?

Some ideas?

Lots of respect to everyone here - even with templates this isn't easy Posted Image

Tried my hand at making a ComStar Black Knight.

I used the incredible Odann BLACK Black Knight image - cut out all that gold trim, whitened the rest of the mech, then tossed in his metal and glass layers, added a Comstar stripe and logo (I have to find the name of the person who made it) and added a small Cameron Star.

Not bad but looks a bit bleached out. are you using multiply layer? if so try like a slightly darker white. (not grey you plebs)

Thank you. Using GIMP - so trying to figure how to do it without bleaching it out Posted Image

I updated the original - as I had forgotten to save the Gamma symbols...

The lack of Lyran Wolfhound puzzles me the most, as it seems a natural fit (after the Kell Hounds of course).

You are right. Wolf Hound - Kell Hound. Fits.
And as a proud member of the Kell Hounds and even further: The 2nd Regiment's 2nd Batallion of the Kell Hounds (22KH), called the Wolf Hounds - it is mendatory to put it into the only right camo:

My technique for whites involves painting the area I want white in pure white as a layer set to multiply (to keep that area unaffected by other multiply layers in the same clipping mask - not sure how well that applies to GIMP) then at the top of the layer stack, duplicating the layer but setting it to soft light. Play with the opacity of the soft light layer to find a good blend.

I believe GIMP has soft light functionality with its layers, so the principle should still work.

Ok, how does this look? And thank you for the tips Posted Image

Once again - this is the Odann Black Knight Gold Trim model - converted over to a white ComGuard version.

Posted Image

Any tips on making those nice clean edges around your templates? Thanks - in advance!

Better! try like grey where the areas would be darker.

Looks a bit like a bit too much Saturation and Lightness, which is why you lose definition. Try a little less, and use the Contrast/Brightness tool more (Or the Photoshop equivalent, I use GIMP). You can crank the brightness up a fair bit to whiten things, but then using the contrast slider (going positive) you can keep the contrast/definition.

Appreciate the tip Bishop Steiner.

Wound up trying another rework - once again, from Odann. I used his Archer template, along with clipping the cool shoulder-pad from Odann's stunning Steiner Archer (though I used a Steiner logo instead of the Iron Cross, and changed the quote). I also layered in the Morgan Hero Mech from Piranha.

All kudos go to Odann and PGI - all I did was layer the stuff, clip and color it :P

Getting Better on each. Contrast will also help you with the balks getting too black. BTW; love the work on the shoulder guard, nice checkerboard, et al.

The checkerboard pattern was from Odann's Steiner mech - all credit to him for that ;)

thanks again for the tips - I'll keep on practicing until I get this ;)
