It's an emergent MWO meme. Additionally, Atlai is more fun to say.

It's "Atlases" pure and simple. Don't they teach English in High School anymore? B)

Yes, but aparently they dont teach anything about humor.

Step 1... getting it on the radar.
Step 2... figuring out how to make "Atlai" work like "Buffalo" ...

All right Mr. Smartypants - what's the root of atlas?

Funny you should ask. The original form of the word turned up as Atlai (see the writings of Insanicus, 400BC), which was already a plural. The debate to what the singular should be was quite pronounced, though eventually they decided on Atlas, with the retroactively assigned root of "Steiner". Needless to say, this stuck.

both wrong. It's Latin version of greek god àtlas and it is spelled:

Atlas
Atlantis
Atlanti
Atlantem, Atlanta
Atla
Atlante

and IT HAS NO PLURAL. guess why? it's a GOD and there is only one of them

It's not, it's perfectly good (ancient) Greek and I can assure you, it pluralizes just fine, like all nouns do in both Latin and Greek. Rarely does context call for it but I gave a simplistic example of English doing just that: "I saw the two Jennifers, yesterday". So, no.

I guess the important thing is... can we make a company of all the different Atlai and their variants? It's nearly the perfect machine. Between lrm boats and close range brawlers, we could make things happen..
