Just a reminder . Just because GDC is going on and Russ and the rest are dropping incredible videos , it doesn't mean you guys back at the offices are allowed to slack off . Although with Paul in charge it's probably inevitable .

It's Friday ! That means play testing !

Feel free to record it and upload it .

That is all .

Just sayin'..

OH and about that Beta Announcement we were promised today (OK no one promised.. just wildly speculated it I'll take what I can get ) :)

Metro is nowhere near the studio so he doesn't know jack. But apparently he did get some gaming gear on his own.

As for today's play test. It was incredifun. I'm heavily starting to enjoy the nuances of the Jenner over the heavier class Mechs. Life expectancy isn't that long but if you know how to pick and run, boy are you going to be a pain in the arse on the battlefield. Just make sure you keep one eye open for those AutoCannons and such. :)

Sounds like the art of the light mech in TT as well. Float around in cover, then buzz past their back door to give them some tender loving before vanishing behind the next tree or hill. Heaps of fun that.

Sounds great.

For some reason reading this reminded me of those nature shows where a pack of Jackels would team up against a Lion. None of them would take the Lion head on , but as soon as its back was turned <NIP> .
Poor Lion could never sit still .

The Colossal class (of which there is currently one known, infamous example). :P

As this seems the defacto post for play tests , this was tweeted a few hours ago .

Bryan Ekman :

@bryanekman Just played 2 v 2 - @russ_bullock and Jordan Weisman vs Me and @mattneutron

Later Princess Matt N responded :

@Matt_Neutron @bryanekman oh Hey Bryan My Twitter is @Matt_Neutron. Was a pleasure scouting for you. I can't believe I got killed by Jordan Weisman!

Here's the latest Ekman tweet as of a few minutes ago.

Bryan Ekman@bryanekman

So I saw the flamer in action yesterday.

Not a very politically correct statement, IMHO. But good for you Princess Matt N! You go girl!

Yeah, the heat generated is more than the heat delivered. It'd be odd for flamers to generate that much heat now that they are ammo based too. I really hope they rebalanced them since they are no longer pulling from the reactor.

In comparison to the novels which talk about how feared even a single flamer or shoulder fired inferno rocket from infantry are, in the table top they always seemed more of a burden than a boon, unless you had infantry you wanted to broil. Or forests/cities you wanted to torch. Then again, they also talk in the early books about how no matter how many sinks a mech has, they'll all reach critical overheat levels after a few hours of hard movement.

I would LOVE to have my Recon pilots mount flamers, and lay down a smoke and IR screen to cover our advance.
