I do not care either way about Sun-Tzu, only the glory of Warrior House Hiritsu.

I love the guy. He inherited a broken nation he fixed it and made it strong.. You gotta respect that.

Oh and by difinition, a warrior is a person who fights. It doesn't matter what his weapon, style, or even in what arena his battles take place.

Sun Tzu Liao? Well, he's the son of Romano... of course he'll be the next chancellor. The boy looks promising, so far. If and how much he comes after his mother ... we'll have to see.

A classical education is fine and all, but somebody really ought to teach that kid how to pilot a 'Mech.

We Highlanders have no hard feelings towards Sun Tzu Liao but our home is awaiting us and , eh , nothing personal but we are leaving all of ya and heading back to Northwind. Of course, we hate the Davion Dog's even more so think of us as doing ya all a favor when we revolt againts the Davion's.

Took me back a bit as the weasel who is soon to "lead" the Confederation pours disgrace on the name he shares with the great Military thinker. Your soon too be leader fits the mold of complete and ruthless insanity that hass characterized the Liaos for centuries. At least we tend to keep our crazy leaders in check!

Do you know anything about Sun-Tzu, at all? :P

Not the one which made the Art of War, of course. :P

You're somewhat right. His parents should have named him "Sun-Tzu Niccolò Liao".

If nothing else, Sun Tzu managed to survive his upbringing without being murdered by his own parents, and that earns my respect. But if Kai Liao had made a serious bid for the Capellan throne, he would have had it; and paranoia over that happening was Sun Tzu's greatest problem.

A good leader. He managed to reclaim a good deal of the worlds we lost, not to mention that shameful eyesore known as St. Ives.

Uh, he abused Star League troops that had just finished fighting the Clans. Basically he sent a clear message that the Confederation can't do jack by itself, and has to rely on the power of other nations to do anything. Nice one! It also sends a message of weakness, and the rest of the IS leaders should have marched back into the Confederation and dethroned Sun-tzu or at the very least put massive sanctions on the Confederation.

Actually, it was a brilliant strategic maneuver and conveyed none of the negative connotations stated above; As stated previously in this thread, why send your own armies to do your fighting when you can hoodwink foreign idiots into doing it for you?

Sun Tzu the character? Don't mind him. I don't like how he had plot shields (that sort of thing should remain the domain of odious Feddies and Warden Wolves), but what I REALLY don't like was the Flanderization of the CapCon he represented. Thanks to his Xin Sheng program, the CapCon basically became SPAAAAAAACE CHIIIIIIIIIINA, which cuts no ice for me.

I respect Sun-Tzu Liao for bringing us back from the brink. The 4th succession war left our Confederation in shambles we nearly collapsed as a result. Romano Liao's military first policy undoubtedly saved our nation, but in doing so led to a generation of stagnant growth in our civilian economy as what little of our industry left in our remaining worlds were devoted to rearming our forces as quickly as possible. There is no doubt in my mind that Romano Liao was paranoid and a megalomaniac ,but at least she was a realist when it came to National Survival.

Sun Tzu's rise was a godsend for our nation. He gave us back our pride. He ended the economic stagnation that gripped our worlds and raised the servitors up as a legitimate caste in society. He had the strategic vision needed to drive us forward into a brighter future. He had the sense to direct the people to be proud of their Han/Slavic/Hindu heritage as Capellans. He directed the cunning politics that allowed us to ally with the Free Worlds league and strike back at the hated Davion's and Stiener's. He secured our nations security through our pacts with the Tuarian Concordat and the Magistracy of Canopus. He is the reason our banner once more flies over the cities of Sarna and Tikonov.

He has the cunning of his Grandfather Maximilian, and the patience and thoughtfulness of his namesake. Had Sun-Tzu not come when he did there is no doubt in my mind our Confederation would be in a state of decline. It is for these reasons I respect the man and would gladly fight along side him to Terra itself if he commanded it.

(I love the Capellan Confederation and its Russo-Chinese Pseudo-space socialism thing it has going on. With Indian Thugee cults thrown in for the hell of it.)

Sun-Tzu Liao is a coward and a tyrant. How can anyone like a man that sends bodyguards to fight in his 'mech for him, while sitting back and taking all the credit for everything everyone else does?

Sun-Tzu is a slimy snake, just like the rest of his family, with the exception of our beloved Candace.

The number of people who seem to equate being a good leader with being a good fighter is very disappointing.
And that's why your precious St Ives will be back in the embrace of the Confederation soon enough.

It's nice to see that there are people out there who will buy the party rhetoric hook, line and sinker. Worried about the Maskirovka looking over your shoulder, there?

Only those lacking in faith in the Confederation need fear the Mask. And traitors of course. They never forget the traitors. Another thing St Ives should bear in mind.

You should be thankful it was Sun Tzu that conquered St Ives. If it had been Romano there wouldn't have been a Compact left to integrate.

Sun Tzu is a man that has a very specific set of talents and uses them almost exclusively to benefit his nation and the Capellan people. He is selfless and logical in a way Maximillian and Romano never were, he doesn't see slights against the Confederation as personal insults, as Romano did, he sees them objectively and combats them accordingly.

He is vital to the Confederation, that much is obvious to anybody. He wouldn't simply risk his own life for such petty concepts as honour or vanity, he knows his own value and what his loss would cost the nation, again an entirely objective view. That said, he has fought during the Jihad, when the morale value was needed.

Does all that make him a slimy snake? I like to think Sun Tzu would say if it benefits the Confederation then sure, he is a slimy snake. :o
