Apologies for the crudity of my topic title, but the rancor I am currently feeling is at a volcanic boiling point.

Firstly, I am not knocking any of the build advice I was given, so this does not reflect on that at all, merely on my experience with Newegg, which dates back to July 13th.

I order close to $1000 bucks in components,
Spoiler

I get the components, and like a kid in a candy store whip it all together.. flip the switch and POOF... nothing.

Long story short, had to send the PSU, MoBo and CPU back for refund/exchange. Wait a week and a half for all the RMA turnaround (made late to work having to wait on UPS) put it all together, and the HDD grinds like crazy. I mean LOUD. Set up RMA on IT.....

Get internet today, so I use the computer, grinding HDD and all to try to print the RMA uPS label, and it wont recognize it. Under basic print, it shows nothing, Try it under the recommended XPS viewer/printer, and it gives me a nice "no matching document message". Click on the help key and it's Help has me adjusting settings that don't even exist.

And the capper is that the copy of Windows 7 Home Premium I bought, keeps posting "Invalid Product key" messages, and Microsoft was oh so helpful telling me the key is not legit, the copy of windows is probably counterfeit, and I need to contact newegg to be issued a new key (the multiple contradictions in all that is giving me a massive headache).

So after an hour of "chatting" with their drones, I am still sitting with no UPS label, and no answer for the Windows problem.

Total butcher bill of defective crap parts, $580. And more hours of my time wasted than I care to think about.

Simply put, Newegg has been the absolute worst "buying" experience I have ever encountered, and I will certainly never use them again.

Just thought I should post my cautionary tale of woe for those looking to build a system. The epilogue, as of now, Is that I walked into the local Micro-Center, bought the identical components (except the CPU since Newegg would only exchange it) and everything I got from there worked. And they price match Newegg.
(And it's a 15 minute drive if I do need to return or exchange something)

So I guess my lesson learned is to leave online buying for music.

I have always had a super-positive experience with newegg. I bought my current PC in components from them and everything worked fine, it sounds like you just got really unlucky all at once. Most parts get damaged in the mail, so I wouldn't get so mad at newegg.

I'm suprised to hear that you had so many issues with Newegg,I've been buying from them for years now and have never had an issue with anything I've gotten. In fact the pc I am on now was put together from parts completely from Newegg and never an issue. My psu blew up recently but that was more wear and tear for a 2 yr old build and the pc being on 24/7.
I am glad to hear that you were able to finally get your pc up and running and that ya got the same stuff for the same price.

and yes, for the record I am blood boiling pissed right now. I seldom get mad, but I just about threw the whole damn computer out the window.

And yeah, I have heard almost nothing but good. (Having to wait on UPS and hope you and they can coincide on schedule is annoying, but whatever) So to say I was a little surprised is to put it mildly.

Same thing happened to me, and I thought I was screwed. Took it all apart again and put in one piece at a time, booting each time to test, and it ended up working perfectly. Sorry to hear your experience with Newegg wasn't similar.

Man, that is a horrible string of bad luck. I've been ordering components from Newegg for years and have never gotten a bad part. That's...just wow.

Sorry to hear that, but I've never had any problems with ordering from them. Hope you get it all sorted out.

Sorry you had a bad experience. I've never heard anything even close to that before. Personally I've probably spend close to 10k at newegg over the past 8 years and never had anything but a smooth RMA experience : /

With all the people who use newegg eventually someone is just going to have the worst luck. Online retailers aren't any different from brick and mortar in that respect other than the difficulty of returns. I can remember back when I bought Legend of Dragoon for PSX the one I picked up was missing disc 4. Much later when I bought the GTA3 box set I got it back to my dorm room to find NO CD's LOL. Every experience I've had with newegg has been flawless knock on wood. I'll see if my delivery on Friday continues that trend.

I've had nothing but good luck with newegg not considering the price gauging. I have been going there for about 6 years.

Is this your first computer build? if yes I know there are quite a few things that can make the PC not turn on, little things that can easily be fixed.

I have purchased a couple of stuff since newegg came over to canada, about 300-400 bucks worth of stuff, but my main hardware store I go to since I live in canada is NCIX.com, they do both canada and USA been with them about 5 years and they are great, customer service is awesome and RMA go through flawlessly.

I feel for you tho, putting time into a rig and then not turning on can be a bit of a ****** haha.

Newegg has -always- completely screwed me on shipping charges, but I've never had any problems with shipping damages.

My experiences with Newegg have been pretty good. I especially like it since they don't charge tax. Their RMA service does kind of suck though. I remember once I put in an RMA on an AMD Phenom II CPU and it took weeks to get it replaced. I forget what their excuse was exactly but it was something like one of their technicians was on vacation or something.
I had a bit of trouble installing the second CPU (**** those delicate pins so hard) and ended up filing yet another RMA, this time with AMD instead. Got a new CPU just two days after I sent the previous one in.
