Lol @ above saying antec is as good a quality as seasonic or corsair (which is just seasonic rebranded btw).

I've built 3 seperate machines from newegg and only had to RMA a pair of dual channel RAM sticks during that whole time. I did have to RMA them twice though.

I think sometimes Newegg recieves a bad batch of a product or the shipping to them is too rough. You will see certain items that are rated well, suddenly have a rash of horrible RMA reviews. When this happens usually the replacements are also farked, and you have to either get some other part or RMA over and over if you are dead set on that item until you get a good one.

If I had a local store that would order specific parts, match newegg prices, and had an honest return policy without any bull I would probably never use internet purchases. Sadly, the only store in my area with a decent selection of parts is Best Buy and they will fight tooth and nail against matching online prices in their store.

Brand new cpu, mobo, ram and harddrive, all dead on arrival? Not a chance, sounds like a pebkac error to me. 20 years as a network admin, hundreds of built servers and pcs and never had more than a single piece come DOA at once. I think you were being literal when you said you whipped it all together. Its computer equipment, not legos.

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with Newegg. I've been buying parts from them for years and only once ever had to return an Asus motherboard (first and last time I'm using anything but Gigabyte motherboards. ;) ) In fact, I just brought a new case from them at 11pm Monday night, and it came at 11 am yesterday morning, on the free 3 day ground ups service. I highly suggest you give them another chance, or try putting it together and booting it for every new component you put it, might work. Cheers. B)

I wouldn't say it's newegg's fault on this (btw, same as most here, have ordered $x000's from them over the year building computers).

1. it looks like you mishandled the CPU to begin with (or i guess you could blame AMD since they manufacture it - outsourced in case somebody tries to get picky)

2. I don't care how well the Rosewell PSU has been "reviewed". It's not quality like Seasonic/Corsair/Antec brands as proven over the years.

So, just saying the mb and PSU went bad already faults the PSU most likely blowing the MB.

3. Hard drive..its a crap shoot in general between when it's manufactured and all the shipping it goes through by the time it hits a consumers hand.

I just find it hard to believe that you've got 3 different components all "messed" up straight out of the box (unless you went with open box items).

well, unless of course, you've been struck by lightning a couple of times, then I feel ya. (knocks on wood myself)

1. He didn't, it wasn't until he removed the CPU to RMA the mobo and CPU that the TIM got on the pins.

2. The Rosewill PSU has Superflower internals, and is a repackaged Superflower Golden Green PSU, which has been out for a couple of years, and is also used in the Kingwin Lazer Gold line, all of which are high reliability, high power output, and high efficiency power supplies. In general Superflower based PSUs are second only to Seasonic PSUs in reliability right now. As can be seen in their 5 year warranties, and very well rated revies. And the reviews state they are high quality.

Pretty high end quality if you ask me. They've been out over a year and just came out with the modular versions, which are getting even better reviews on quality.
Also, their new Fortress 80+ Platinum line also have exceptional reviews as far as quality goes.

3. Pretty much just bad luck.

4. He got a second Coolermaster PSU which failed as well, and his Motherboard failed too.

There's your problem right there. A low grade, low power power supply. That is what most likely blew up your motherboard, power supply, and hard drive. Ever since I smoked a system with a low powered power supply I have always gotten top end power supplies with more wattage than I need. I have never had a power related problem since. It wasn't Newegg that failed you. It was you that failed you.

To explain, what happens when your power supply isn't powerful enough to supply all your power is that the power supply will drop the voltage down and supply more current. This generates more heat. What generally results is that many components short out.

Ehhh, I admit to not being an expert, (though I made it a point to consult with several people who do this stuff for a living), but a 650w modular is hardly low power. True it's not some mongoloid 1000 uber gaming setup, but then neither is the rest of my kit. And by all accounts, the 650w is more than enough to run all my current components, and extras, such as a second GeForce 560 card. Were I to bridge a third, then I would be recommended to go to a 750w or thereabout.

As for quality, the Capstone gets pretty universally good reviews, so TBH, I really gotta question if you know what you are talking about? I ain't trying to cause drama, but believe it or not, sub 5000 dollar computer bulds can run just fine, and generally can run jsut about any game on the planet.

Well, not to sound prickly, but I gotta say you are at least partially incorrect. I paint and model figurines smaller than your pinkie nail inn full detail (such as the old Ral Partha Elemental figures for Battletech)as well as having had to handle things that go BOOM very easy at the least provocation (Commercial explosives and such are not terribly forgiving, I find), and not only have a completely steady hand when working on tiny stuff, but have cultivated patience like Job over the years. The parts, at least while in my care, were never remotely molested.

I work on a glass bench with no nearby carpeting, using grounded static pads and wrist bands, and have jewelers glasses and a nice modelers glass with light. CPU went directly from its box to it's chip slot, perfeclty aligned, first time. Locked, then stock sink attached. So sorry to bust your "you musta been sloppy careless and dumb" myth, but no.

As for how so many parts could be bad, well let's see one obvious culprit could be that somewhere between California and Ohio, a UPS driver or sorter dropped the box. Since all 4 components were shipped together, it would be pretty easy to mess up quite a few, especially since one thing even the strongest Newegg fan can claim is that they pad their shipments terribly well (The hard drive for instance had several inches of free play in its shipping box).

Also, a damaged or defective PSU can, last I check toaster-cake many other components?

*Shrugs* Though at teh end of the day, the "true cause" would only matter in avoiding it happening again. Instead, I think I'll focus on puttin gthe new parts together and see hwo it goes. (And about that lightning, don't play golf in a thunderstorm, and you'll probably be OK)

I'm fortunate to have a micro center 10 minutes away. They price match Newegg (just did for my headset today, in fact), with the exception of some of their rebates. But in some areas, like CPUs they seem to be a step behind. They only bad 6100 series 3.3 ghz CPUs, vs the 6200 3.8 Vulpes recommended me.

Ah, yes, but of course. You are so right, except, of course, when you are not. Hundreds of servers and never a failure? And you walk on water during your weekends too, I suppose?

Also for the record, new parts have arrived, replaced the HDD tonight, build is complete and running 5 by 5. And just waiting for me to get the spare money together to add the Corsair H60, more RAM and a SSD.

Gotta admit OP, you've probably hit the motherload of all bad lucks regarding newegg that i have ever seen. I mean seriously I don't think I've ever had someone get that many failures with products. The Newegg support is usually pretty good usually they even gave me shipping fund when i couldn't print the UPS label.

Hmm, usually electronic stores can't price match newegg as well due to newegg being tax exempt. Gotta admit you lucked out on that part.

On a completely odd side note, if you had a micro center nearby I probably should've mentioned that they sell intel i5-2500k for the same price as newegg's FX-6200 at $160 and you get $50 off on z77 motherboards when you get that processor.

Still, in the end I'm quite sorry that you got such a ****** experience with them. I'm not too sure if newegg itself should be the target of most of the blame except the customer service part since this really does sound like a terrible batch of parts that can happen to any retail store. Hope your rig runs fine now

I have spent thousands on electronics at newegg over the years with no problems in shipping or damaged items. I LOVE NEWEGG!

Newegg's customer service is awesome. I've only ever had two issues. The first was on one of my first orders through them. I posted a negative review, and someone from their CS contacted me within an HOUR of me posting it and made it right and gave me $200 in product in exchange for retracting my review.

Another time I had some things ordered next day air and two items came from different fulfillment locations. One was misrouted by UPS and sent to the wrong city, so it arrived a day later. I complained to newegg about it and all shipping charges were fully refunded - even though it wasn't their fault.

I've also had probably 30 other orders from them without incidents.

I bought everything in my current rig from newegg, there were all positive reviews for everything except for the rampage III extreme, which about 10% of people said they had to RMA. Mine worked fine when I got it though. I was super nervous about the core i7 980x being damage when it arrived, but again, no issues. I spent close to a month reading reviews on everything to see which would be the least likely components to be problematic.

I'm a little too old school for my own good, probably. Have pretty much always ran AMD, though admittedly, that was cuz back in the day, they smoked Intel for gaming. The times, they are a-chaning', though, ain't they? Still. No complaints. Finished and operational rig purrs like a kitten. I do need eventualyl go to quiter than stock case fans though. Otherwise, smooth and nice. And waiting for a PileDriver 8core some time around black friday, maybe?

Sounds like a good plan! AMD pretty much said they gave up trying to match intel clock for clock, so there shouldn't be too much disappointments since the new piledriver should at least be 10-15% faster than the bulldozers. Mmm it'll be a tough call since you just dropped 140-160ish on that hexacore to justify an increase in performance that isn't too noticeable.

also, nothing wrong w/ AMD, yea they fell in terms of speed in recent times but its not the ground breaking "OMG AMD SUCKS" that everyone harps about online. Techies n gamers have that min/max mentality that doesn't quite need to apply to the cpu selections imho.

I upgraded from an old intel core 2 quad to the brand spanking new ivy bridge 3570k, and lemme tell ya the biggest increase in speed of load times in my eye is still gotta be cause i got a SSD. I just don't stress my CPU enough to notice the pure power difference.

can't help ya on the case fans since I'm pretty worthless when it comes to fan selection. My case fans all came w/ the antec p280 that i bought. The case is nice n quiet, but its also a bit heavy for my skinny asianness.

So my package came. Aside from a hiccup of my old cooler not working everything went smoother than my last build. Props to asrock for making the extreme 4 lga 775 cooler compatable, but my old xigmatek is impossible to install a second time since the fan is impossible to remove. Can't get enough leverage to push the pins down, and the retention bracket was a one shot deal. So I'll see how far I can overclock with the stock cooler. Looks promising so far with the fans I installed in the top of my case as my system temp is a good 5 degrees cooler than it was before.

SSD's are amazing. It's hilarious restarting windows and being right back at the desktop in 20 seconds.

Now just have to hope nothing craps out for a few years at least.

I'm planning on building a new PC soon myself, all parts ordered from newegg of course. MB, CPU, HD, OS, RAM, CDD, Case, extra fan(for the case); I'm even throwing in a 10$ mic. Only parts being left out are the GPU and PSU since I'm going to carry them over from my current rig.(See no reason to already replace the perfectly working 600w box and 6870 card) I looked into pre-built PCs or "build to order"s but none of them I've seen offer as good of a deal as what I will get just ordering all the parts and building it myself.

They're going to give me a 15$ gift card that I won't know what to do with. Maybe I should drop the mic or extra fan out of my order so I could get the card first and then use it for that. But it says it will have a 1year expiration date so I'll likely just keep it and use it for cheaper RAM or something a year later.

So here's to hoping I have good fortune. If a single item in this big box of parts is defective then my entire rig will be ruined until it is mailed off and then replaced. That would really suck. But I will be reviewing every piece after I've installed and tested everything out. There's always a few negative reviews per product that worry me but I try to trust the majority. There's always going to be that 1 ***** that doesn't know how to use something then complains defective hardware(I O NO HOW TO DO THIS IT MUS BE BROK); or that 1 guy that simply gets the 1 out of 10,000 chips that really is defective.

I've been using Newegg for like a decade. I've built three entire computers and have upgraded 4 of my own PCs entirely through Newegg. On top of that I've helped a handful of other people upgrade their PCs through Newegg.

I've bought OEM and component only gear even.

Never once have I gotten a bad part or bad copy of windows.

On top of that, my packages only show up highly damaged like a bunch of drunk yeti's are the ones handling shipping.

I hate to say it, but that many problems from one build would either be some supreme fluke where all the planets aligned, you ticked off every religions god and karma, walked under a ladder, spilled salt, and ran over a black cat....or builder error.

Newegg has always been the best for me. Far better prices than any local shop I've ever been too. Although I've never needed them, I've always read that Newegg support is great.
