Given a choice of assault mechs, I've always been partial to the Banshee, or the Highlander running a close second. Love the TV shaped head!

Being a Clanner at heart, this greatly appeals to me. However, I am joining the Clans for the lore, not the 'Mechs. At least I know I will have a few worthy opponents remaining in the Sphere.
That being said, with pilots of equal skill, a Dire Wolf destroys an Atlas relatively easy. They have similar armor and speed, but one glance at the weapon loadouts almost guarantees a Dire Wolf victory. It can use 4 ER Large Lasers, 2 UAC/5s, and an LRM10 to punish an Atlas at a range where the Atlas can only return fire with a LRM20. To win, the Atlas has to close the range to use an AC/20, 4 medium lasers, and SRM6, at which point the Dire Wolf can use 4 ER Medium Pulse. And yes, there are different varients for the Atlas, but there are also better varients for the Dire Wolf, so it comes out about even.

While not a huge Marauder II fan (the 'mech itself is fine really, I'd probably go with a reg Marauder) every time I see the Marauder name I pray for more info on the unseen.

Because of the fact that it can destroy anything and eat clan tech for breakfast

However, the Daishi is a much better mech in the end, as well as it being an Omni!
