Now clearly, not everyone will agree, especially because probably not everyone here is a Classic BattleTech fan. However, if this game is using the BattleTech franchise, it should at least try to remain consistent. Bottom line:
Atlas, Dragon, Jenner, Catapult, Hunchback = great redesigns that remain true to the source
Centurion = Went too far in a new direction, please tweak the design.

And it wouldn't take much; a lot of the design tidbits are there. It's just that the other tidbits shout much louder.
(much like us, I suppose)

Well, when I think of BTech community, Pirnha is doing quiet nicely. Remake 6 very iconic mech and have just minor complains on the last one and already fixed problem with Dragon is more than they could have hoped for.

Some many not like them but you can have the most awesome perfect design of a mech and you will have your naysayers so carry on the good work.

This re-imagining is a little ya know, off for me. I would have not recognized it unless someone told me it's a Cent. Maybe it's the post but a few things throw me off.
1) The shield. Nada the Cent never had one.
2) The Claw arm.... That reminds me of Manei Dominei Mechs.
In fact I thought I was wondering how come a Manei Dominei Mech actually appeared in 3050 and I first saw it.
Look at dem hands. In fact if that Cent had bird foot system, it would look close to a Celestial type Omni o.0
3) The another point would be the head, but I could live with that.
While i really enjoyed the other re-designs, this one does not really float my boat. Still it is a fine work and fine looking mech.

1) The original Centurion is nothing like an armored tank, unless you actually grab a tank, stand it up and put a pair of legs on it. The plating used on the new Centurion protects the proper areas on the mech and it has a more compact profile which is proper for a war machine. It also utilizes more geometry to help lessen the impact of enemy weapons. The old Centurion is as flat as a board and would take the full brunt of any frontal hits instead of allowing geometry to lessen the force.
2) The redesign on the cannon arm is more practical as it is thin at the end and slopes properly with the armor to deflect shells which hit it when it's pointed at the enemy and firing. The old Centurion cannons would take hits at a 90 degree angle and allow maximum damage taken making it rather dangerous to use in a head-to-head fight.
3) The original Centurion knee design looks like an accordion. It's not cool to have a huge war machine with rubber knees. The new design has actual armor protecting the knee joint (and other joints) in a practical way.
4) The old Centurion has big fat fingers that can't grab anything for the life of it. The new one has more practical mechanical claws for holding onto stuff.
5) The original design had flat feet from the looks of it. That wouldn't even let it go up a slope much less stay stable on any rough terrain.
6) The new Centurion looks like it can actually twist its torso. The old Centurion's torso looked like a solid rectangular block of steel. The new Centurion's waist design makes it look like it can actually bend over to lower its profile even more when working with limited cover.
7) I hope they keep the shield. There are no weapons in the left arm so making it a wider target will be a benefit to soak up extra shots with proper torso twisting between weapon CDs.
And yes, I've played the TT with friends when FASA was still up and running, read the novels, and I've played the MW games that have come out. I never liked the original Centurion design since over a decade ago and I am glad that they did not let it carry over the way it was. The new design is a far cry from Gundam or any anime design that I know of and I believe that it retains the Battletech feel.
I'm sure that there will be a design or two that I may dislike or disagree with in the future, but for now I will put my vote behind the new Centurion.

The feet do not look like mech feet - they look to me like someone stuck fixed artillery mounts to its legs.
The armour of the arm is just wrong - it could look armour plated but not a shield - it isnt BT & it isnt part of the centurion & if it was implemented then people could possibly exploit it then others will say why doesnt my mech get a shield like arm to???
I like the idea of making the mechs look more realistic, functional & militaristic but I also want them recognisable as their TRO style designs like the others have suceeded so my suggestions to fix it are as follows
1) get rid of the shield just make the arm look plated
2) get rid of the fixed gun mount feet & more like the atlas or jenner feet
3) lift the head a bit - not so its got a neck but at least more of a head like design
4) MOST IMPORTANTLY - redesign the cannon - make it a cannon with ejector type ports for shells not a laser looking weapon.
the rest of the mech should stay as is - its a much better looking design than the original it just needs some tweaking - I really hope its not too late.
