Why battlemech 16+ could very well be a Clan 'mech.

We have 15 IS chassis at this time, and we’re approaching mid-August 3049.

Many of you remember that Phelan Kell is captured by Clan Wolf on The Rock 3 days from this day, 3049. The Periphery is seeing a good deal of Clan action as we speak, and we will be dealing with a full-scale Clan invasion starting in March of 3050, a mere six and a half months away.

This game will be going live some time in the near future. Exactly when hasn’t been addressed, but with the massive influx of Founders into the Closed Beta, we can at least assume that an Open Beta (something approximating “Live”) will follow suit within a reasonable period of time. We know that not every chassis is implemented right now, and we know that the process of adding ‘mechs to the game is somewhat time-consuming. By the time this game is in Open Beta, it is unlikely that we will have access to all 15 of the so-far-revealed ‘mechs.

My question is this: why does battlemech 16 have to be an Inner Sphere chassis? Wouldn’t the implementation of battlemech 16 put it somewhere around the Clan Invasion?

Maybe 16 is an Inner Sphere ‘mech. Ok. What about 17? 18?

I think we’re really, really close to seeing some Clan tech announcements. There is no reason that revealing a Clan ‘mech would mean that it needs to be in the game prior to March.

Well, when was the first time inner sphere houses or merc units got to use clan tech? Those are the factions we are currently limited to in the game.

Personally I think it might be awhile before we see some clan mechs.

I would not expect a clan announcement this soon.

I don't know if they'd do it as a full mech announcement, but I do expect some low rez grainy footage of "mech's with an alien design" in the near future :)

The Clans aren't likely to show up until well after release day.

First real invasion wave is march 3050. So in 2013 we could get our hopes up for real Omnimechs. Get excited for Clans this year is pointless. Rest assured, the Invasion will come (in 2013) :)

Until then, don´t think about what is going on in the periphery and concentrate on the conflicts in the inner sphere.

Let me show you why it won't be a clan 'Mech:

just because the clans are poking around the border, and the first wave starts next year, doesnt mean you'll be on it ;)

people should remember that, the devs should not have to suffer from calendar pressure

They could, but I think it'd be a much more exciting reveal if they just suddenly dump the clan on us at the start of the invasion without any sneak peeks at them before.

Imagine them suddenly revealing the full starting clan lineup the day that the clan patch goes live. ;)

I think BattleMech #21 will be the first Clan 'Mech revealed given the speed of new 'Mechs revealed. They are probably working on coding in the new ones into the Beta for testers...

It'd be cool to have some 20 different I.S. chassis to choose from, plus their variants. Maybe I'm hoping for something too much to offer, doubtful... Then again... they could be rolling out the new battle modes soon and that's why we're seeing a lack in new 'Mech releases, but that's just me speculating.

Best ignore dates and battletech 'canon'

on a personal note I think it was alittle bit nieve, of the dev's to start using the 3049 dates, so soon, ok it keeps the MW canon geeks, happy ,but then they start using them as refrences of why this should happen even before the games gone into open beta..

best think of it as an alternate universe, like star trek, so they can ignore all the fluff..

canon is going to be blown wide open with all med laser, or all LRM mechs or all whatever the flavour of the month weapons load out happens to be, on mech's that have by canon, multi range multi weapon systems, and I'll bet a penny to a dollar, the canon pretchers will use those specialised single weapons load outs..so best just forget canon and whats been written in the past..

or you'll be disapointed and bitter in the coming months

I could see it being a timberwolf/Madcat just for the news article, I wouldn't expect it to be playable anytime soon though.

Ya I already made a thread about this. A news article with a grainy photo would be awesome.

Personally I'm looking at open beta as when the game goes live. The devs are as well. Once it hits open beta our premium accounts start ticking for real. I read that announcement correctly?

Something to ponder.
Founders = Inner Sphere
The rest of us = All the clans..

I'm sorry I'll stop laughing now....no I won't ...LMAO
