I would have to say the Nova with 12 ERML.

I don't know how the 4 ER PPC Warhawk/Masakari has been cited so much in the assault class without giving mention to the Nova Cat in the heavies which has the same alpha (60 dmg) yet weighs only 70 tons to the Warhawk/Masakari's 85.

The Hunchback IIC without a doubt has the most absurd damage/weight ratio around. However, that thing is the quintessential glass cannon since it is slow and carries an XL. If that thing were on a team, it'd be insta-primaried as if it were the new Bukkakapult (Splatcat).

Locust IIC is my best bet. 8 ER Small Lasers + 130 kph = win.

I'll throw my hat into the ring for the Ebon Jaguar, particularly in A configuration.

86km/h, 2 ERLL, an Ultra AC/20, 4ERML plus associated anti-infantry gear and a decent armour payload. What are they, 32 tonnes pod space or something insane like that?

MadCat Mk II by Clan Diamond Shark (90T Assault)...that was just an amazing grouping of versatility, speed and power. The Timber Wolf would be next.

In terms of MWO.

The Bane.

Bane: 10 UAC/2s = 80 DPS
Bane 2: 4 UAC/10s = 2 40 dmg alphas every 2.5 seconds
Bane 3: 120 LRMs with no min range

And it is one of the few stock configs that would have enough ammo and heat sinks to be useful.

Bane would break MWO with its awesome.

Locust IIC
25 tons
47 dmg alpha (8 ER SL & 1 M Pulse)

ER lasers > small lasers for heat management. I bet I know who'd win in a duel.

Sorry guys..but I concur with the Hellstar being the most powerful ton for ton. When you have 30 double heat sinks that allow you to alpha strike as many times as you want without your mech breaking a sweat, combined with 18.5 tons of armor and a 65 km/hour speed for maneuverability .... you are looking at the Godzilla of mechs. the dire wolf has always been one of my favorites, but 30 heat sinks with 4 ppcs will roast you alive.

I'm also a fanatic about assault mechs. That being said, I believe that the stormcrow and timberwolf are right beneath Hellstar.

What about the Tomahawk? It mount more weapons than that of the Direwolf.

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Tomahawk_II

or the Burrock

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Burrock

Alpha alone is 80 damage.. if the mech does not explode..

If you want to fit the current meta: The Jupiter is a pretty good choice.

Two ER-PPCs
Two LRM 15s
Four Ultra AC/5s

19.5 tons of armor, 17 double heat sinks, XL engine.

Pound for pound, my vote is for the Mad Dog . I wish that had been an option to buy as well. The Stormcrow looks pretty capable as well. Really like the A variant.

I'm tempted to say the Osteon:

18 tons Ferro-Lamellor armor, a reinforced structure, and a torso cockpit makes it one of the most durable clan mechs out there, it has some pretty nasty weapon loadouts, and it has a Nova CEWS, so it can share target data with other mechs. It's a contender at least.

Skipped a page or two, but didn't see the Kraken mentioned.

Either 10 Ultra AC2s or 4 Ultra AC10s.

Either way, it will wreck your world.
