Sounds very interesting guys. Will be a change over from the old Mechwarrior games, but sounds like it will work out well. Role setups remind me of Battlefield 2, where each class supports eachother, and the squad leaders/commanders are able to call in the heavy support and what not. Will be nice to see how it all roles to gether in the final version, and to see what were are truely able to do.

Having not played a good Mechwarrior game since the 90s I've not let myself get interested in the news about this game because I knew I would be let down...but then I came and read Blog 3!!! Holy#$% I'm excited now haha. Really great concept you have here team, really looking forward to reading more (which I'm about to do) and checking everything out!

Thanks to Massively for pointing me to you!

Finally a way for me to play in the role I'm most comfortable in. I am a support person by nature and I always do best when I can play fire support. I hope we can find that perfect mech for our personal game play and really open it up to it's fullest potential. Like a Rifleman specialist or somthing like that. I can't wait to see how this plays out.

Hey just one question why is stick figure in first image giving me the middle finger? Is that meant to represent the attitude of most online gamers towards things like "roles" and "teamwork"?

I don't like the sound of it.

So in 1 lance you have 4 players
and then you have multiple lances under a single company command.
And he can totally screw the experience of the whole team.

It feels like an MMO raid leader. Just he can screw you even worse.
A single point of failure is very bad game design.

Does everybody start as a scout, or can you start with a heavy/assault class Mech?

I'm really excited about this set up. World of Tanks has a similar set up with their tech trees. One thing I really like is the cross compatibility they have in their system.

for example. you can unlock a radio using XP in Tank A, and it can be used in possibly 3-5 other tanks you haven't even unlocked yet; after you unlock it, you still need to buy the radio using in-game cash. You can then swap the radio into one of your later tanks once they become available, but you have to remove it from Tank A first or purchase a second of the same radio.

So say we've unlocked an ER Medium Laser upgrade for our mech's standard medium laser using XP. Effectively training our personal technician with the knowledge needed to do the upgrade. We'd still have to purchase the hardware for the upgrade. Possibly multiple times for each laser. This could also be where salvage can come into play. You may have 15 advanced weapons in your warehouse shelves; But without the knowledge to install them, they will continue to sit there... Unless you sell them to me of course.. Hehe.

--------------------------------------------------

I'm still looking for a unit to sign up with...

The thing I will be looking forward to is the ability (like in MechCommander2)is that i can get a repair truck dropped or call in a artillery strike or possibly call in a air scout or air strike.I don't know if all these options will be included in the commanders package of maybe even more options they will release later on but its looking promising as a better game than previous PC games combined.

I think they have claimed Airstrikes and such, but I do not think you will beable to drop in a repair truck. Mech repairs take a few hours, not 30 seconds :D

Sharing information modules like the Critical Shot Indicator sounds honestly like C3 network stuff and the original C3 Networks were introduced in 3050 by the Draconis Combine[1]. :D

Another thing is couldn't a scout lance simply XP farming via Multi-Targeting and Command View modules ?

I would have to say this nifty diagram is great and hope it inspires the diagrams for the game. Excellent Job!!!

Oh what's the rumor I hear spreading across your offices that the mighty "Urban Mech" will be making it's debut and scaring MadCat IIc's and Atlas's everywhere? Oh, I can see it now everytime a mechwarrior faces the mighty and awe inspiring "Urban Mech" pilot's will have to do a fear check or be subject to a beatdown by this very large trash can of death and destruction mech.

Viva House Kurita and the mighty Urban Mech!!!

lol. I can see it now.

*gets tinked in the back by an UrbanMech while dealing with other enemies*
Aegis: "What the heck?! An Urbie?! That does it... Time to take out the trash....can."

Well the mighty Urban Mech is a very large Trash Can. Recommend using your Atlas or Kodiak to beat it down. Don't forget to do a fear check or a trash can talking check before engaging it. Oh, no the dreaded Urban Mech is using it's pee shooter on my Atlas!!! What is a Assault Mech to do in the face of such awesomeness!!!

Aha, but an AC20-toting Urbie is also a SLOOOOOOW moving target.

Meaning unless he's coming in for a kill shot or has a myriad of close-by buildings to hide behind, getting the attention of an enemy any sooner than the last might mean instant recycling for the trashcan! :)

Oh the Mighty Urban Mech Pilot Fears no one except Common Sense. This couragous (or pyschotic) pilot will go after Assaults or Heavy's Mech's with stealth and cunning (yeah right!) like no other pilot (with common sense) would do.

Viva House Kurita and the Mighty Urban Mech!!!

I'm beginning to see the charm of a suicidal trashcan!

...and did you just LIKE your own post? lol.

Yes when you experience the Mighty Urban Mech first hand you too will feel the joy (and terror) of what means to go fight toe to toe (mech foot to mech foot) with a Atlas and realize you our either the bravest mech pilot who ever lived or the most crazy. Either way if the Atlas doesn't kill you, your Large Trash Can will (of embarrassment).

Viva House Kurita and the Mighty Urban Mech!!!

P.S. Yes I have to like it to some of my posts since no one else will support the Urban Mech with such determination and flare.
