I'm pretty disappointed ...I have the 3025 technical readout and all the unseen mechs are in it...these are all the mechs I fell in love with design wise and Now i find out that they were blatant rip-offs of japanese manga designs...I was aware of the unseen/reseen issue but never saw the comparisons as were posted in here..

The warhammer and rifleman along with the marauder a close 3rd were/are my favorite mechs to this day...perhaps I should be pledging my allegiance to macross now

I still love those mechs but unfortunitly voted for unseen or not at all...Although I completely understand the legal ramifications.....I suppose i would have to see the concept art as MW:O has taken a slight bit of artistic freedom to the mech designs... :D its all good though, game is still working as intended for me .

I had to edit this one more time, In this day and age there isnt any way around all the legal red tape? PGi cant pay to use the rights of the mech design, isnt there a way where u can pay for the rights to use a design but rename it something else and just give credit to design or what not in the credits? how did this spiral out of control into what it is today.....where you cant even use the mechs at all....their obviously great looking regardless of who created them and I personally dont really care who takes credit for it...give the credit to a duck in egypt for all I care.... call them their original names ..... we will know who they are...its hilarious on one hand that my favorite mechs are japanese designs from waaay back .... where are my priorites...well I do also love my hunchback and at least that is original to battletech ...

dammit I even loved the archer...used to use that alot in mechwarrior 2

Why the **** do you want a bunch of stolen unoriginal mechs added rather than creatively made original mechs?

You people baffle me.

I am going to have to disagree somewhat with this. You do not start adding non-lore chassis over lore-chassis for the same reason a WW2 game should not add a Warhammer 40K Eldar Falcon hovertank. It would break with the setting of the game. At that point it's no longer a game set in the universe it's supposed to be. Particularly when there's literally hundreds of lore mechs to choose from. Bringing in something like one-legged pogomechs would make as much sense as the USS Enterprise participating in the attack on the Deathstar. You might make it work, but you're no longer playing in the setting the game was supposed to use, and to some of us that really does matter because we do not want to play random giant robots game, we want to play in the Mechwarrior universe.

You totally missed my point - succinctly original designs far out number and out weigh[creativity wise] all this fuss about these designs. Give it a chance, look forward not backwards.

Look i get it, but like Bruce Lee said, don't get caught up in all the fuss about this 'really' minor issue and lose out on all the heavenly glory of what can be done... i'm paraphrasing a bit and changed it to reference creativity rather than a martial arts technique...but it applies.

That was MekTek's MekPak mods that had it, not the standard MS version (it did have the unseen Longbow by default, though).

MekTek also added the unseen Battlemaster (including IIC), Warhammer, Behemoth,
Wasp, Archer, Locust, Shadow Hawk, Marauder II and Rifleman (there might be more that I can't remember).

PGI is doing great work with mech designs, camos, maps, etc. I prefer for their team to use their ideas and images freely. Not just sticking to unseen-reseen images.

Brand new player here; I've been very much impressed with the re-designs produced so far, so my preferred option would actually be all-new designs for the questionable mechs. Those designs were the foundations of Battletech and definitely should be included if at all possible, imho.

I'll be honest, until this post I had never heard of Macross or Dougram. I can see how plagiarising their designs might make them angry. I would angry be too! For that reason, I fully think that Battletech works should add a disclaimer giving proper credit to the original artists/companies for all stolen mechs. But its in those companies' best interest to LET Battletech continue to use 'em. Free advertisement never hurt anyone! Call the donated designs an advertising campaign and go on. Honestly, a big ol' disclaimer with their logo on a popular game series will get them more popularity and money than any lawsuit.

You should really do some more research, that's not what happened at all.

Gah! All those mechs look like they've been hitting steroids for years. Also, what the heck is with all those micro jump-jets? Looks more like fish eggs or something.

As for Sarous, yeah, I've got no problems with reseen/redesigns, but that's not quite how things work. Other companies own the rights to those images. If someone else uses them, they have to pay for them. It's not about free advertising, it's about having an asset and capitalizing on it, ie getting paid and companies would likely have to pay much more money to re-license these images vs the amount of money these companies would get in increased sales of a 20+ year old anime.

in japan, all "unseen" mechs are given new designs.
it is made by mecha designer of macross. Shoji Kawamori.

Will not be able to import this?

I would pay massive MC for either a Wolverine or Phoenix Hawk.

Why are all the good fast/jumping mediums unseen >_<

IMO, the only Unseen that looks good (and fits) is the Warhammer. I HATE the Unseen Marauder.

The original designs of Mechs like Marauder, Wasp etc. have always been too "japanese" for my personal taste. Especially Mechs like the Wasp look like they come right out of a "cool FX/dumb story"-Manga movie. Machines that were built to look awesome instead of being made for effectiveness are just too unrealistic. It's what little children want to see, but not a Mechwarrior Fan. So, go ahead and make completely new designs for the Marauder, Warhammer and all the other japanese freakshow robots, for all I care. After seeing what you guys did to the Highlander, I know you can come up with incredible designs anytime.

Typhoonstorm: huge part of other designs are far more ugly and unfunctional and we still love them.

Truly, if I ever had a choice, I'll stick to good old tank with accurate gun rather than for those stupid huge walking targets. Everz modernMBT can hit target at 2kilometers withh APFSDS round capable of penetrating through 2 meters of steel - and if you imagine what must mecha cover with only few tons of armor, you realize that theyre armored only with few inches of plating even in most armored parts. Seriously, every modern 21st century army will turn any mech batallion to rubble and those poor ******** (aka Mechwarrior) will not know what hits them.

But thats not the point. We love unseen for many reasons, one is their loadout, second is their design, nother one and the biggest in my opinion is nostalgia because we loved this mechs when we were little kids.

I feel the reseen fit better with the other designs from the BT franchise, and besides that, they're original, not just some copycat mechas.

That being said, I just want the loadouts of the unseen/reseen. How they look is of little consequence to me.
