I would love melee attacks in a mechwarrior game has it would at least give you something to at least flail about with should you lose weapons rather than just waiting for someone to come and blast you like in previous games or just doing scratch damage while bumping into others as well.

that said if there is melee options at most i would want them to be secondary as much of the time vs shooting options for most units since while there are melee specialized mechs even them had shooting bits has the primary mode of attacks.

i would mostly want melee most of the time being a secondary option mostly use when it's the only option or when just blasting something isn't viable.

That said. i can understand and will tolerate no melee options if it happens again here as well since it's easier to code shooting things than to code stuff like throwing around a Locust by a Atlas

Just one? Nope ... can't do it. If yer gonna include that then you have to include all of the basics:

Punches, kicks, and melee weapons (namely hatchets!) Though I agree with Paladin ... I'd love to be able to smash through a building, grab a girder and go to town on the head of an opposing mech! :)

Well first off I would think that melee weapon would be the one I use because some Battlemechs do have weapons like the Hatchetman. I don’t think using an arm to punch your enemy is very effective because you still have other weapons, laser, AC, ect, that would become damaged. So if they did it that when the weapons themselves were destroyed you could punch, than that would be alright by me.

I plan to adhere to Zellbrigen, therefore such tactics would be beneath me.

i plan to show why silly clanners once they show up shouldn't forget just how much a Atlas's fist hurts if it will let me.

if your in range for me to slug you and i can get way with it i will take it.

Just because the Clans are unknown does not mean I am allowed to breach the rules and make my 6mm Binary dezgra.

Since there were mechs who were specifically designed with melee in mind, if there was a choice of only one I'd say melee weapons. Would suck to not have punches, kicks and the like.. but not having melee mechs and an option for melee attacks for them is just disappointing.

I've always liked the Axeman and the Hatchetman and I really hope the developers revisit melee.
Its really a key part of the boardgame and the Battletech universe in general

Personally I'm not satisfied with the FAQ answer to melee.
I can appreciate that they think it will severely change gameplay but Terrain, LOS, elevation, Cityscape, etc... will play a major role in MWO.
I think it deserves at least a closed alpha/beta to see how melee really pans out.

So just as sniping with <insert your favourite weapon here> is part of "the way the game is"
Using and avoiding melee will just be the way it is...

Melee will create incredibly awesome epic moments for players!

I'm a huge fan of Gundam, and I always admired the mix of ranged/melee weapon types. I'd like to see this as an added feature to Mech Warrior online.

The one that should be in, because all mechs could use it, would be a charge. You do more damage the faster you are moving, also based on your tonnage.

I think it'd be added Melee Weapons and Punches. Kicks add too much "I'm going to fall on my shiny metal behind" that no one would really use it.

Though, I'm kind of with the devs with the idea that it's probably something that shouldn't be in game. I know it sucks, but with a lot of urban or closer spaced environments, that Axeman becomes an executioner if you happen to stumble round the corner on it. That Atlas caves in your puny mech like it's swatting a fly, etc. That's a lot of damage unless there's biig drawbacks for punching.

Melee combat ability has been missing from the MW PC games for far too long.

It needs to be implemented.

I for one will relish it.

As for favored attack? Nothing says fear me like the raw power of a heavy or assault mechs kick!

Voted Melee Weapon as I feel that includes such 'weapons' as the Archer's reinforced fists and the reinforced core of the LRM-15 on a Zeus.

I'm hoping DFA and Charge are options simply because they would actually happen.

I just remembered that in MW3 you could technically charge and DOA... although it did little damage. but it did do damage. More to you than them though.

Of course I also remember this one incident in the expansion when I was piloting the elemental and I ran at a enemy Atlas, jumped, collided with it's head, and exploded... my lance mate told me that it did somehow take away half his head armor.
