To make it interesting the caches would have to salvaged during the battle. It would add an intersting twist to the battles that this occured in.
Just an idea, thoughts?

The seperation would be in in the type of items that would be availible. The player made items would be more rare or offer different specs. I would not see this affecting the micro transaction system.
You could even take it one further and require resources to build the modules. Resources would be aqquired by controlling planets. This would make Merc Corps/Factions more aggressive when it comes to attacking/defending certain planets.

I think it's the other way around. Some people will never spend a single dime in the CS. However they have no problem buying the item with C-bills. So have a AH and allow CS items to be sold there. In every game I've played where this was allowed there were always people willing to buy and sell CS items for in-game cash or trade.
It doesn't really matter whose CC is charged as long as the item sells. Plus running it through the AH takes a little in-game cash out of the economy as well due to fees.

I like this. when it pops up it could turn into a king of the kill type battle. who ever holds it longest in a certain amount of time wins. Another way would be like how world of tanks does its flag cap. pops up and whatever team gets its mechs there and hold the circle wins the salvage and if they get shot or killed it resets there timer. would make it kinda interesting.

this could give players who are or want to hire Mercs a way to do it. ???
EVE had so much going for it, but cheaters ruined it.
but the Economy system worked cool.
- Im worried about the future ,will there even be coffee?

But I guess since there is no avatar it's just wishful thinking.
A Merc company that gets respawns?
I'm losing my excitement here. The challenge of getting a company up and going, living contract to contract, now that would be fun. If its gonna be a rich kids wet dream of power, never mind. The battles are only part of battletech. Where's the tech?

Also, I don't think anyone has ever 'salvaged' a cache of Lostech during a battle. Stumbled onto one maybe. A Brian cache is an enormous underground structure, usually built into a mountain or valley and extremely well hidden. I surely expect us to be fighting over these structures hopefully even IN them sometimes - but there will be no in-battle salvaging of Lostech. It wouldn't fit with anything if we just walk over some power-up icon and get 'Lostech Cache Found!' pop up. That would be a lame game breaker for me.
Edit: I did play Eve for a while, but gave up. I didn't see it as an actual game, JUST an economy with some point and click fancy lights.

And I for one do not want to waste my time farming for some damn item to sell. Besides, if you are a clanner from a warrior cast why would you waste your time with c-bills when to a REAL clanner, money has no meaning to you.
This also apply to House units as you are military units that are supplied everything you need. Only the Mercs got to keep the soils to do as they wished.
Now gambling in or at Solaris is something that I could see. Even for salvage rights.
As far as crafting goes...3049 was not a beacon of science and technology. I say stay with the tech timeline.

I do hold onto hope that these matches in the online game will have some meaning in the greater universe. I hope that factions that can seize, and hold, territory will be able to support a larger number of players1, have access to a wider range of 'Mech types, have access to better Mercenary contracts, an in general just able to shrink other factions down to their core worlds. It should be possible for a faction to "win," in the sense it is big enough, both in players pledging loyalty or working for it, and in the number of worlds supplying it, that all the other factions have been reduced to
Likewise, I hope that Mercenary companies will have to deal with supply problems2, and that being able to seize, and hold, worlds would help relieve those problems.. as would contracting with a richer patron. I hope that Mercenary Companies will be able to "win" by being the biggest, baddest, and richest of them all.
___________________
1By supporting a larger number of players, I mean that I hope that each faction will an "base" number of players pledging loyalty to it based on the number of worlds, both faction-controlled and 'Merc-controlled, where the amount of time it takes for a mech to be repaired after a match is standard. Factions with too many players pledging loyalty to it would take longer to repair their mechs, factions with too few players would repair their mechs faster. There should be an advantage to pledging loyalty to the underdog, after all.
2By supply problems, I mean that I hope that Mercenary Companies would have to fund their own repairs from their company's coffers, which are replenished both by the contracts they get from their patron faction, as well as the number of planets they control in the name of their patron.
