TT, custome 95t with biggest engine and max armor. Equiped with 22 small lasers linked into 2 groups in left/right torso. Seemed to work more often than fail.

I don't know if I would call it unorthodox, as it happened to the best of us at one point or another, with this franchise or another.
While playing MW3, I loaded up an Annihilator with as many laser weapons as I could, including a few PPCs, as well as a gauss cannon. No heat sinks.

I had the audacity to think it was okay to hit the alpha strike button.
The smouldering wreckage that used to be my 'mech helped me learn my lesson.

I remember using Mauler, filled with nothing but machineguns and some LRMS for long range combat. Was surprisingly effective, but lacked that satisfactory one hit knockout punch of two LBX/20s

I had a Kodiak with max armor, bunches and bunches of small laser and machine guns (machine gun/small laser boat). It was worthless at range, but in MW4 Wetlands map battle, it could chew armor off anything up close. I surprised a lot of people with it. A great up close and personal brawler. It was fun to watch armor rapidly melt off a Dire Wolf or Atlas.

Mine was an Annihilator in MW3, loaded to the brim with 16 machine guns, and enough armor, cases, and ammunition as the bloody thing could carry. It took a pounding while it closed to range, but once it got there, it would rip just about anything to pieces in minutes.

What's your weirdest, or most unorthodox build you've made guys?

Can't remember what mec I did this on TT to, but I did something simular with an assualt mec in an urban combat we where going inot. After a battle where I took out a bunch of assualt mecs on bridges with light mecs every one went the light way. So my merc groupe took one of there assualts and rigged it up like this and put it right in the middle for the lights to go to town on. Ever seen what that many machine guns can do up close to a Stinger? By time they figured out the trick the mediums had flanked there med/hvies and started to go to town on them....I ended up loosing the assulat mech, but it was my only mec that went down. Destroyed/captured every mech on the other team.

Ok, here it goes mine:

Mektek MW4 mercs
Daishi with 4x Clan Ultra AC20. Max ferro-fibrous armor. Min Engine power for extra ammo. Cored an atlas in a single shot. Survived three consecutive waves of 3 assault mechs.

Was pretty good =)

TT, used CityTech rules to produce a mech with an ICE engine. No energy weaponry, no heat was the idea.

Doesn't work real well, ICE engines are much heavier than their fusion counterparts.

Once I made a Hauptman with 3 Clan Ultra AC 20s. Had to tweak some of the other settings too for tonnage, but not much. I realize this is kinda mixing the tech, and a purist would'nt like it very much, but when I got close to enemy mechs on mechwarrior 4 mercinaries it was the funniest thing in the world. Light mechs simply exploded. Assault mechs fell over. Every time!!!

In Mw4 I had a fun time with this poptart sniper Uziel:

2 light guass with an extra ton of ammo (I think)
jump jets
bap
no armor on arms and little on legs, head and back
:(

TT

Hundred ton Clan mech, 5 LPL + T. Comp and enough DHS to be heat neutral. Never got a chance to use it.

For a giant TT, many-map, multi-company battle between me (IS), and my friend (Clan), my most common mechs to deploy were to be 50T Blitzkriegs, which normally come in at 118.8 km/h with uAC/20s. BUT, mine were to be modified to fit in C3 slaves, potentially allowing them to shoot their uAC/20's at 9 hexes (long rang), as if they were close range, and pick those smug clanners apart.

The units were to be supported with spotter gunships and infantry, and of course C3 master units and artillary. Man I wish we got around to actually finishing that campaign.

Annihilator in MW3
12 Medium Lasers
biggest engine in the game
I would just run around and blow legs off all the enemies.

I don't actually remember what mech it was, I just remember I got a wild hair one day in MW4 and decided I was going to load a Long Tom cannon, it might have been a Fafnir, but what mech it was doesn't really matter, basically the Long Tom in MW4 was nearly impossible to aim, and virtually useless but... when you're an assault mech and you had one, and of course you ended up with a couple gnats harrassing you at your feet well... shooting the ground in front of you and watching them both go BOOM is -very- amusing.

Chrome hounds

3x Double barrel canons on top of a quad chassis with armor all around the cockpit....

but the effective one was an extremely fast, light mech with howitzers that I used like shotguns....

My favorite MW4 was a Daishi with (3) LBX20s, (5) Medium Pulse Lasers

In MWO,
-Raven with XL300, 2 machine guns and an SRM2, wasn't that bad actually.

MW3,
-Quad Gauss Dashi with enhanced optics and as much ammo as possible
-any heavy mech with many medium pulse lasers just devastated everything

MW4,
-Triple Long tom Dashi,
-Catapult with nothing but artillery beacons on the first mission and the one with the drop ships (third?) and making a time trial out of them to see who gets the highest score
-Suicide mechs in general where pretty ridiculous yet unoriginal XD

MechCommander, (yeah, cant forget about this gem)
-Atlas with as many clan pulse lasers (M range) as you can fit on it

Everything else could have wacky combos with no hard point system, and only a tonnage limit according to its class :(

4x LBX20s in some mech from ghost bear legacy maybe?

it was AWESOME in city maps. First shot would destroy an arm and most of a torso and knock them over. second shot would execute them while they were on their knees trying to get back up.

I remember having a *lot* of machine guns on one mech once upon a time. maybe 30 machine guns or something like that. Wasn't as fun as the splattercannons though.

TT Atlas

Hardened Armor
Reinforced Internal Structure
3x Myomer
3 ER Medium Lasers
No Heat Sinks
Mace
XL400

When it got its heat up enough to activate the myomer, the mace would hit for 80 dmg. It was my Solaris VII champion. Oh and it would take over three direct hits from a Naval PPC to completely destroy it. (608 armor, 304 SI).
