My first BT experiences were in tabletops and the first MW, but most of my logged hours (easily 3000-5000) were in MW3.
I joined HK in MW3 FireStorm League with a bunch of great and talented people as well as skilled pilots there. I quickly rose through the ranks, and in the span of about six months became WL over all of Benjamin Prefecture shortly before being unceremoniously kicked out (the heavy price of honor - ).
My play style is tactical and unorthodox: I study my opponent and incorporate what he does well, and throw away everything else. I've done everything from training beginners, to batchalls and trials of possession and rank. I also never mind doing logistics work or other clan-related planning, or filling in a spot in a pinch.
I'm on the fence right now between sticking with Kurita or maybe going for Davion. Maybe you guys can help sway me: why does everyone here play for the Kuritans?
Iron Horse out.
Konbanwa Iron Horse-san. To answer your question on why I choose Draconis Combine (DC) I must humbly state that the DC chose me and I am still here.
Though I sincerely respect the Davion 'democratic' style of society, the Draconis sense of community (kizuna),respect for elders, community courtesy (空気を読むこと), and strong traditions coupled with the determination to strive to get to the goal (koi no taki nobori) were the factors that influenced me to move towards the Draconis Way. Again I state, the culture chose me more than I it.
The great history of the Combine with its roots in Samurai and Bushido were highly influential as well. That being said, I come from two cultures and respect both.
But I am still here, in the Draconis Combine. I have a feeling that I'm here to stay.
Good luck in your search for your way.
宜しくお願いします。[Yoroshiku onegai shimasu]

I have played every battletech related game that has been made, MPBT was by far my favorite. I played mostly with Su Chi Wai, DC Havoc, AK Wraith and I am sure there were others that I just can't recall at this moment (Sorry it has been a LONG time). Favorite mechs wiere the Panther, Enforcer, Catapult, HBK-4J.
I look forward to teaming up with everyone again, hopefully this game can recreate the truly great gaming experience that was MPBT.
did you play the battletech tabletop computer version for the amiga computer which was pre ibm dos or windows if not you have not played them all. may the blessed blake and his arm the word of blake enlighten you

My first experience with the Battletech universe was with MechWarrior 2 and Ghost Bear's Legacy. I was pretty young, but I got hooked quickly.
Flash forwards to MW4 Mercs and I became infatuated with the universe. I'm one of the cofounders of Legio, but we fractured sometime in '07 and went our separate ways.
I'm looking to reform Legio within the DCMS. If anyone is interested, throw me a PM. I promise not to disappoint.

Started in the late 80s with tabletop 3025.
In the early 90s I was playing the BT MUDs like Luthien, IMO the best computer BT experience to date. 250+ player realtime PvP.
First PC title was Crescent Hawk's Inception.
Went to the first E3, beat 3 dudes by circle strafing, won my Mechwarrior 2 shirt, still have it.
Played MW3, 4.
There was an AOL game? LOL.
I'm an old school Clan Jade Falcon Star Commander from the MUD days, but since that's not an option, I wouldn't be caught dead as anything other than House Kurita.
Where the hell is my Marauder?

Dessu SOG Neon.
I started playing table top battletech in the late 80's just before the first clanbooks became available. I was immediately hooked on the clan concepts of honorable combat, but found a great deal of resistance from the table top gaming community who did not understand the ideology of the clans.
Sometime in the early 90’s a coworker gave me a copy of MW2 (dos), and I quickly fell in love. By the time I got my hands on MW2ti, I was able to play online, and quickly became a very active player.
In MW2ti, I was known as Star Commander Ironhawk<BTSG>. I quickly found that few players knew anything about the game they played, but instead apparently thought it was doom in giant robot skins. I was immediately confronted with requests for games of “no heat, unlimited ammo”… grabbing a soapbox, I started preaching about the game having more to it than just shooting up opponents like a game of doom. A number of players liked what I had to say and I ended up founding the BattleTech Simulators Group <BTSG>. There where few players I encountered outside of my own group that seemed to understand the game… only once did I find an “outsider” who really understood the mentality of the clans.
I played primarily as a Jenner pilot whose primary purpose was to go in and take out the assault mechs so the rest of the team could mop up. The only player on the public servers who could consistently beat me was OM (Old Man) who was a ‘moth pilot who seemingly had macros for everything. He was also the only one who would almost exclusively play with BTSG, but refuse to wear the tag when invited to join.
I continued to play MW2ti through sometime in ’99 with QBall, OM, and a few others who I regrettably no longer know the names of. I could not afford to upgrade my computer to MW3 specs, so I only played it at a friend’s house, and was disappointed to see more of the same “doom players” I had fought so hard to overcome in MW2… I ran solo in both MW 3 & 4.
Reading the forums I have seen a lot of commentary from people who really seem to comprehend the game they play… in this respect I think the long wait may have done the franchise some good as it is us die hard battletech fans who waited for the next incarnation to come out. The “doom players” have moved on to COD, Diablo, etc.
I eagerly awaited MW5 with the rumors of its expansion to include vehicles, aerospace, and likely power armor FPS gaming. And looked forward to using the tanks I had become so adept with in the tabletop. <sigh>
I have to wait till the beginning of the week to get my Legendary Founder account (hopefully this “limited time offer” will wait that long.)
I am looking forward to getting in the cockpit of my old Jenner again. I just hope they will let me mod enough it to serve as the scout I hope to play. I will be trying to recruit some of my old gaming squad mates from 10th SOG to join me and form a lance, if not I will be looking to find couple players to form up with me.
As for my choice to join with DCMS… I have a long standing interest in Japanese culture and history (specifically sengoku jindai), combined with my concepts of honorable conduct, and the draconis cultural concept of bushido, outside of a couple clans, draconis is a natural choice for me.
I am a member of a historical recreation society, and am part of their Japanese studies subculture where of late I have taken an interest in Japanese textile arts among other things.
As this introduction is starting to read like war and peace, I shall quietly return to attempting to get a couple hours sleep before the alarm goes off for work.
SOG Neon
as a side note, if you happen to be one of those who played with Ironhawk<BTSG> wearing the tag or not, give me a shout. I would love to hear from you, and maybe play together again.

About 10 years ago I got in with a great gaming group playing a variety of games, but we had a pretty long stint doing a 2+ year MW/BT game. The entire time I was House Kurita, and I was using my custom mech nicknamed "Baka" (60 ton with minor Jumps, SL's and Blades for doing DFA's on people, hehe) Anyway, the mech actually sucked, but I had a lot of fun with it. Been Kurita ever since whenever I can. Played most of the MW/BT games over the years, some more than others... played a ton of Mercs on XB when it was big.
Beyond that, I'm a mech ADD kind of guy - I can sit for hours and just design iterations of different builds... I love medium range builds in general and fast medium mechs.
Moo.

I've been with house Kurita for a while now, started with the tabletop game in the 90's and tried out a few of the videogames here and there. I have been spending most of my time redesigning and combining different Mech teams with vehicle and battlesuit support for the tabletop game. I enjoy fighting plenty of heated battles.
As for mechs I can pilot any variant, no real preference for any specific build. The Catapult however has a special place in my heart as one of my go to Mechs, the CPTL- K5 variant if anyone know the reference. No real logical reason why, I just seem to do good with it.
Be it friend or foe may the best man win.

I became acquainted with Mechwarrior through MW4. From there, i read a few novels and played some of the other games (MW3, MC2). As soon as i heard about MWO i instantly signed up. i don't have as much knowledge or experience with the battletech/mechwarrior universe as some of you grizzled vets here, but i love batletech and i hope to become better versed in the universe during my time here. While i cant boast about my skills at piloting a mech, i can say that i consider myself decently skilled and fast learning when it comes to games ( though you will never hear me say i'm the best at them). I hope to have a lot of fun while playing MWO and i'm looking forward to seeing you all out there!

I guess I'm a bit of a latecomer. I started playing with Mechwarrior 4 when I was 13.
Continued on to get into the Btech universe and sampled Mechwarrior 2 and 3.
I don't know if anyone will remember me but most of my time playing I was in the old CJF which became DCM in NBT, with Nasu, MDK, Marshal Law, etc. I still hang out with a few of those guys on BF3 once in a while.
I've been out of the gaming community for a while. In that time I've finished college and I'm currently finishing up my initial training as an Army officer. I'll be heading out to Japan to take over a platoon in October.
I'm pumped that Mechwarrior has returned better than ever, and I definitely want to rejoin DCM and contribute.
I have yet to join a unit, I'm trying to see if there's a unit where the old NBT DC guys are congregating. However, I'm open to any unit that wants another experienced Mechwarrior.
Hope to see you all around.

Looking forward to bringing glory to the DCMS... But seriously I have been a battletech fan since being introduced to it in the early 90's. First game was on the PC DOS, Crescent Hawk's Inception, I was hooked immediately... Played every Battletech/Mechwarrior game that came out on PC from then on... Tabletop game came later along with Mechwarrior Roleplaying Game... I am just so grateful for PGI and appreciate the hard effort in bringing this franchise back to the PC in the form of an MMO no less...
Just can't wait to play...

I have played the PC games from mechwarrior 2 up to MW4 and the addons for MW4. I also spent a lot of time playing the TT version for quite a while. We did some mechwarrior rpg back then but nothing that really stuck. I spent time in competition in the Virtual Worlds Pods and was able to make it to the nationals in San Diego. I have played some in the newer pods but not much. I am looking forward to playing this game like no other in a long time.
