spider - worst looking mech in the universe and no ejection pod(although it would look cool to be in the mech as it dies around you in the cockpit)

Any Mech that uses an Arrow IV Missile OR Artillery piece. Period! Please perma ban ANY Artillery from EVER being put on a Mech!
*Plenty of other weapons to play with*

And NO NUKES. ;)

What is wrong trying to shoot a Phoenix Hawk LAM going at 1440 km/h while he strafes you 4 medium lasers and 1 large ER Laser ? ;)

Mechs that ought to be banned? None, this is Battletech! Any mech you can build you should be allowed to (or forced in some cases) to pilot, bring on the Quads, the Melee mechs, the Artillery platforms....whatever. That said they will stick to mechs that are "canon" or the variants of these mechs that players can make through the customization system they implement. As a final note we will get what the deves program in...so its all moot anyway. Now the list of stuff I want to be left out just to **** people off. ;)

Any Clan mech that has been in a video game before.
Mechs that have names starting with the letters C, M, P, D, S or K.
Also no one should be alowed to Play on Days of the Month that have the numeral 4 in them. so the 4th, 14th or 24th, just cause.

And if you somehow took this seriously in anyway, I pray for your brain.

I absolutely disagree with the topic brought forward in this thread and I think any kind of mech should have the chance to appear in MWO.

Will it have to be steerable/pilotable (?) ... no, not necessarily, but a cameo appearance of some LAMS or four-legged mechs, why not (?), noone is forced to choose any of these mechs ... why would one exclude certain types and thereby limit backgound graphic options, story/campaign options, and possibly mech piloting options (?) ... IMHO not a very clever approach.

Overall, I find this discussion/thread rather destructive and narrow-minded than constructive and helpful!

I think artillery will be in the game, but it will be gimped if implemented tactically, and it will be tied to the command role if implemented strategically. So if tactical, weak punch and slow reload times; if strategic, then limited salvos and complex pre-fire setup.

I think you all got it wrong...its not so much a what shouldn't be put into MWO. They are making the BT would come to life, witch means that Everything up to the current time line is there....and the most powerfull/advanced Battle Mechs belong to the Wolf Dragoons.

You can say well this is unfair, but its a game, there will always be a unfair/balancing act. I really dont think anything that has ever been created should be left out, its part of the MechWarrior universe and I feel that as much as they can should be included. It might not be avalible to play with but to look at or shoot, maybe.

Remeber not all Mech are designed to fight other mechs. The only things that shouldn't be in the game are things that haven't been "seen/created" because of what year it is and or where MWO takes place. Some things could be unavalible because they belong to a House and in that region of space it dosen't belong.

Who knows...we can all wait and see.

I wholeheartedly agree. One of the things I've always loved about the BattleTech/MechWarrior universe is the warmth and diversity it seems to foster among its fan base.

You never know who might harbour a soft spot for a 'mech you aren't particularly fond of.

Why limit our world by omitting some of the components that have enriched it over the years?

I say pilot your favourites, and always encourage others do the same!

Mackie would really only be useful as a prop in a map with plotline. Seems too ancient for many people to invest in-game money on it. I'm not saying they can't include it, but pointing out that it might not be worth the coding effort.

There have been a couple of thread entries on the subject of 100 plus ton mechs. I really, really hope we don't go there. That's one ot those things where enough is enough. The Assault-class battlemech should have enough firepower and armor for the biggest gun enthusiast. I would also take the team-work out of the game. Why get lance mates if you mass as much as a lance already. If they ever did anything like that I would hope the movement penalty would be so high that it would be a semi-mobile target for every other mech to take pot shots at. I might take a day to breach the armor but we'll still take it down. If folks are interested in something like that take a look at The Bolo series. The Bolo's were planatary seige units pretty cool.

Life is much too short for me to be limited in the number of mechs that I can blow the limbs off of. I say put as many as humanly possible in the games.
