"Thom, this is Guardian, switch to channel seven,"
"Roger,"
"And to all Delian mercs out there, you better hope I don't make it to my battlemech, becuase if I do, you all are dead men, so retreat while ou can, Draconis Wolf, out,"
He knew his actions from Bonette had earned him some news story time throughout the system, and he figured that if they were smart, they would withdraw, but he hoped they didn't. He brought the throttle up to a slow acceleration, and saw Rory get into the other hovercraft, and the turret began to move. He flipped on the comms, and brought them to channel 7.
"So, where to first, we headed to the nearby landing pad, or to my place?"

[[Also, thanks Azman for the update!]]
]]Finally, welcome Charles, feel free to join in! I must warn you though...you might want to avoid Damon and Orcinus at all costs...can't speak for Orc, but Damon has a 'KOS' on pretty much all DCMS...and most of the Combine for that matter....]]

The missiles caught the spindly Clint in midair, the HEDP warheads flaying armor from the machines' left leg, left arm, and rear torso. The mattered machine swayed drunkenly on landing--suggesting that one of the missiles had clipped the Clint's gyroscope--but in a testament to the pilot's skill, the machine remained upright, if a bit wobbly on it's pins, as it turned to return fire. The Armstrong autocannon fired slightly wide, but came close enough to warn Lina not to underestimate the Mechwarrior at the controls.
She fired up her comms system as her sensor s detected additional contacts moving their way. She spotted others as well..but these appeared to be organized. And since the only large, organized force in town had just gone rogue...
"Graaf!" she called, using a microwave tightbeam to the man's Dragon. In spite of whatever jamming they were using, tightbeam comms would probably still work, provided the 'Mechs using it maintained line-of-sight to each other. "I"ve multiple contacts inbound. Recommend we pull back to a more defensible position....and advise any friend we have in the area to do likewise."

Rank: Sho-sa (Major) Reserve
Callsign: Salaryman
Battlemech: PHX-HK2 Phoenix Hawk LAM
Date & Place of Birth: 11-28-3009, Kirchbach, FRR (formerly Draconis Combine)
Current Residence: Alshain, Alshain Military District, Draconis Combine
Physical Description:
175 cm, 86 kg (roughly 5'9", 190 lbs.), compact, athletic build; yellow-brown complexion; light brown eyes; dark brown hair (style is a shorter version of a traditional Draconis Combine salaryman haircut). Mixed Swedish, North American, and Japanese descent. When not in DCMS uniform, he usually wears suits in the styles common for salarymen. He customarily carries a stainless steel M1911 pattern handgun with ornate engraving (in the original .45ACP chambering, the weapon being a family heirloom from a distant ancestor who served in the United States Army before the advent of the Western Alliance) in a traditional vertical shoulder holster, with a vibro-katana concealed in a cane. In combat or if expecting additional nastiness, he adds a Nakjima Laser Pistol.
History:
Born to a Rasalhague AeroSpace fighter pilot in the DCMS Rasalhague Regulars, Henry Martel, and his wife Megumi Iichijiro-Martel while visiting relatives on Kirchbach. He was always fascinated by Land-Air Mechs and attended the Dover Institute of Higher Learning, taking MechWarrior training as well as AeroSpace fighter pilot training while pulling a double major in aerospace and BattleMech engineering. Graduating with honors in 3030, he joined the DCMS and wound up serving in the War of 3039 earning several comendations for his LAM lance cutting off resupply to FedSuns by interdicting supply convoys and frequently engaging FedSuns scout lances on Quentin. He gained notoriety for being a rare LAM pilot who could exploit the strong suits of a LAM to a very high degree. This led to the Gunji-no-Kanrei Theodore Kurita presenting him a rare Phoenix Hawk LAM as his personal LAM.
He is devoted to Theodore Kurita's vision of a new bushido and new Combine. When his unit was moved to reserve status following the conclusion of the war, he took a Professorship at DIHL teaching a new course in advanced LAM piloting and tactics. Lately he has begun research into LAM conversion technology hoping to develop the first new LAMs since the era of the Star League.
Being of Rasalhague descent means via his father he owns some land holdings in the FRR which he is enroute back to the Combine from having concluded the sale of to a FRR manufacturer for a new expansion to an existing factory.
Demeanor: He is a highly trained and competent soldier of The Dragon and devoted to the defense and well-being of the Combine, but he exibits numerous traits that can be shocking to see exhibited by a DCMS senior officer ranging from a sardonic wit, fairly loud sense of humor, and a generous nature. He has a low opinion of political bickering and privately harbors a desire to see an end to era of the successor states.
=====================================================================-----------------------------------------
Charles was taking care of a minor boredom issue. Contrary to what the idea of "Faster Than Light" would indicate, interstellar travel was a long and boring affair. After a month on Kirchbach he was ready to resume the new term at DIHL. He finished the standard s-curve used for standard re-entry procedures and pushed the HOTAS control forward, entering and controlled, yet swift dive. Hopefully a tavern would be open. As much as he loved his life in the Combine, no one in the Combine could brew a decent beer. Ebisu came close, but it wasn't the double malted stout his grandfather brewed with a head that could float a coin.
As the city came into view, there were obvious signs of what appeared to be a battle. Activating sensors he detected multiple mechs and groundeffects vehicles. Below he noticed a heavy assault lance plus one, as he zoomed in, the Delian Guards insignia was obvious. He had read ISF reports, a privilege of rank, that the mercenary outfit had turned to banditry to supplement their lack of honest work of late.
"So, I'm sure those are the bad guys, who's the other team......", he muttered as is scanned the city. He found a Dervish with St. Ives Militia markings. "Guess I should see if I can be of assistance.....', provided the good guys didn't fire on him on general principle.
He lined up with the street dropping down in a power dive, then pulled up 200m. off the deck and engaged the conversion system, shifting the Phoenix Hawk LAM into Air Mech mode, canting the legs forward and firing engines to quickly burn off velocity before returning them upright for a VTOL landing a block from the Dervish.
He activated communications systems, and his ear were assaulted with harsh static, a sign of jamming. "No wonder the local garrison hasn't responded. So he switched to tight-beam microwave comms, repeating his message in Swedish and Swedenese on multiple frequencies.........
"This is Reserve Sho-sa Charles Martel of the DCMS to the St. Ives Militia BattleMech. I've noticed a bit of excitement and would like to offer any assistance, as it looks like the Delian bandits have a heavy assault lance on the ground."
"This should prove an interesting four day layover I think", he thought to himself as he monitored his sensors.
[[Sometimes you just have to dive in. And a flashy entrance doesn't hurt. ^^ ]]

"I need to get to the landing pad my unit is under attack. They need my mech in the fight." As he was lowering the radio mic from his mouth it crackled back into life but the signal was weak "St... 2 this.... ner Support, Unide...fied LAM....." the radio cut out. This jamming was a real pain in the ***. Lina Dervish fired off a barrage into the Clint when the ground shook violently. Nathan turned his head and saw The DCMS LAM recovering from its landing. "Draco DCMS 9 o'clock, get us out of here!!!" The Vulkaneers wernt particualy friendly with Dracs since Bonette and Nathan was in any hurry to change that.

With that said, his eyes narrowed as he brought his large laser and two medium lasers to bear on the Delian Clint, lining up on the mech's torso. His finger depressed the trigger, chain firing the weapons in sequence, providing just enough time to keep his LAM's heat managable. The large laser tore into it's armor, with the two mediums adding insult to injury as molten slag ran down the mech's torso.
Not wanting to stick around for a response from the Clint, Charles ignited the engines, sliding sideways like a ground effect vehicle from hell, taking cover behind a building.

Now confused and very curious, as he wasn't expecting another Skjaldborg unit for at least a week. Quickly establishing laser communications with both mechs, Damon spoke into his mike.
The twin dots of James' crosshairs pulsed on the Grand Dragon standing in front of him. In his ear, the dull tone signalling an LRM lock droned on incessantly.
Yet he did not fire. Though James did not recognize the mech, or it's color scheme - something about the other mech did not seem hostile. The way the fleeing mercs were pointing at it and avoiding it, told James it wasn't one of theirs either.
"This is Damon Howe, Korpral of the Skjaldborg Mercenary Unit. I am piloting the Jenner Amai Sakura. Centurion and Grand Dragon pilots, please respond and confirm status, over."
Turning his mech slightly, but keeping the powerful AC/10 autocannon fixed on the Grand Dragon, James stole a look over this left side, and saw Damon's Jenner pounding out of the hanger, taking up a position and forming a rough triangle between the three mechs. It was only then that James began to notice the striking similarities between the Grand Dragon's and Damon's paint schemes.
"This could get ugly real fast here buddy. I hope he's one of yours..." James thought to himself.
James opened a tightbeam communication to both mechs, and cleared his throat.
"This is Captain James Söderlund of the 1st Robinson Rangers. I am piloting the Centurion standing before you. I escaped a local bar with the help of Korpral Howe. State your intentions."
He was about to close the comms channel when out of the corner of his eye he caught the last of the mercs disappearing into the buildings and alleys of the city behind the Grand Dragon. Reflexively he balled his mech's left hand into a fist. Using his arm to point out his dead techs nearby, James called out again.
"Those....animals...gunned down my men for nothing. For a few tons of metal and C-Bills. I intend to use every ton of what they intended to steal to make sure that they felt what my men felt. Join us, or get out of my way because I don't have time to waste."
With that he reoriented all of his guns on the Grand Dragon and waited for his reply.

Damon breathed half a sigh of relief at James' words. With both his ID and intentions clearly stated, he hoped that it would be enough to let this standoff work in everyone's favor.
...assuming that the Grand Dragon pilot was indeed a friendly in the first place, and assuming he was going to play along as well. Damon eyed the AC-10 of the Centurion and the PPC of the 'Dragon aimed at each other at danger-close range. With very little arm movement, there was little he could do to draw on both to indicate his intentions of staying neutral. And while his large lasers could certainly melt through a cockpit in a hurry at this range, if he missed the battle would be very short indeed.
Damon eyed the Dragon again, hoping the brief pause in communications - which he knew the mechwarrior inside received - was simply a means to collect a proper response.

"Thom, Graaf, we are headed to the landing pad to get Nathan's mechs, either follow us, or whatever, will contact you later with meeting spot, to proceed to my cache outside of town,"
"Copy Draco,"
****, I hope that drac didn't recognize that.
Draco was flying down the street, and took a hard left toward the pad. He saw the street ahead filled with an enourmous firefight outside the pad. Delian mercs were engaging a group of what appeared to be mechanics, and armed civilians, guessed the local FRR had started to fight back. Draco swerved, avoiding an SRM, and went through six Delian mercs. Blood splattered across his view screen, and was then quickly removed away by the wipers. Draco saw the barricaded door of the pad, and pressed on the throttle even though it was on full, out of relfex. The hovercraft smashed through the barricade, and the hovercraft started to take fire, while Nathan happily returned it. He heard the chatter of machine gun fire, along with the fire from an SRM rack.
"Nathan!!! WHERE THE HELL IS THAT MECH!!!"

Damn impetuous fool is going to get us killed.
Graaf swore under his breath as the hovertruck roared off, leaving the 'Mechs behind. Between tightband comms relying and line-of-sight, and the tangled maze of alleys, ditches and now ruined building surrounding them, to get separated would mean to be torn apart one-by-one.
There would be time to follow them soon; Graaf's father had taught him the value of patience and taking stock of one's situation before acting rashly - a lesson the young man had resisted with all his might in childhood.
And so take stock he did; between Lina's LRMs and the newcomer - piloting an arcane and rare Land-Air 'Mech - the Clint had been reduced to a shambling wreck. A quick volley of autocannon rounds into the torso stopped its attempts to right itself - hopefully without wounding the pilot further.
Victory over a defenseless opponent proves nothing but the victor's own cowardice. His father's voice once again.
Graaf then directed tightband comms toward the newcomer: "Sho-sa Martel, this is Kavellrist Grafvitnir Holmlundsson of the KungsArme. Thank you for your assistance. This city is under siege by dishonorable bandits who wish to take control of the many Battlemechs here. Roger intel on the heavy lance. Two of our number have moved toward the next objective without us. I would be grateful if you could get airborne and offer support before they are surrounded. There is a single Centurion ASF friendly, but I can not confirm its status. Over."
"Lina. Beautiful shooting. Confirm Clint is down. We should head after the hovertruck as soon as possible. What is the status of the technicians? Tell Amalja she owes us a round of drinks!"

Almost on cue, the Centurion gestured to the dead techs.

“This is Orcinus, Löjtnant of the Skjaldborg Mercenary Unit. I am piloting this Grand Dragon and have arrived for the purposes of assisting Mr. Howe.”
He looked to the dead techs, then thought of the Hunchback that he had dispatched earlier.
Perhaps I should have…
He shook the thoughts from his mind.
No. Killing him would have changed nothing.
“Mr. Söderlund. I have every intention of showing these mercenaries the might of the Shieldwall of Rasalhague.”
The Grand Dragon raised its hatchet in a salute.
“In honor of your fallen comrades, you have my axe.”
The Grand Dragon turned to the Jenner and lowered its head slightly, as though shooting a glance at it. He opened a private channel to Damon.
“Blå stål.”

With that, he engaged engines moving swiftly down the street, and gaining minimum speed to shift into fighter mode. Going straight up vertical he checked radar for ASF contacts while scanning visually for the Centurion ASF.
"Hmmmmmm", he thought, "A Rasalhague, Lyran, and himself. All we need now is to slap a Cameron star on all of our mechs and we'd have a SLDF unit."
He smiled as he kept an eye out for the ASF.
[[Don't worry, I wasn't present on Bonnett. If I was I'd be handing out requests for soldiers there to perform sepaku for disgracing the honor of The Dragon. First action Charles saw was in the War of 3039 in the counterattack under Theodore Kurita. Made Sho-sa after the battle for Quentin.]]

"Will do Lugz thanks for the help" The hovercraft glided to a halt inside the dropship and Nathan disembarked "Draco, once the dropship is clear of hostiles we'll escort you to your mech"
Nathan clambered up the ladder and into the Marauder, The red only interupted by the Vulkaneers logo and the mechs serial number, Inside a picture Will's Rifleman on Bonette and a poster of a green haired anime girl behind the seat.
Imediatly the mech requested his voice print with the usual recording "They want to take this world"
"Let them try" he responded
Screens flashed on and the mech stood straight since the loss of his lance.
All systems read nominal on the screens. Nathan muted the voice reading he had no time. He wasnt even half way out the door when a enemy Vindicator came into sight. The newly mounted LB 10-X AC burst into life peppering the street with cluster shots knocking off the Vindicators aim and its PPC trailed into the air.
