The difference is that the bondage community doesn't show up in regular forums to talk about their favorite whips, techniques for dominating eachother, and S&M conventions...then turn around and cry prejudice when other people get disturbed and tell them to leave.
I'm going to be polite and simply say it's a bad comparison to make. If you weren't throwing it out there in a place it's completely unrelated (Mechwarrior/Battletech has no furry content in it at all, you are running on a tangent here) but keeping it to your own communities you wouldn't run into "haters" telling you to go away.
If you want to be free to express yourself in a completely unrelated forum, those of you who disagree with your choices should be just as free to voice their dissatisfaction with them. Otherwise you might paint an unfair representation of all MWO players as furries as visitors see nothing but positive, pro-furry threads.
In the interests of civil discourse on the matter, I'll simply put (for now) that I think this thread is a terrible idea and, if you want to flout your sexual lifestyle choice around the forums you should be prepared to get negative feedback for it. If it reaches a point where you can't stand it, you should pick up and leave.

While I agree that it was kinda a bad analogy, this is jettisoned communications. you obviously haven't seen the pony thread
Unlike the pony thread unfortunately, there are way more haters coming in here telling us to go away, than any actual furry conversation going on, so we can't drown them out like in the pony thread.

As for all the haters: Grow up. So some people are into some weird things. It's not like they make you participate so leave them alone! You are more than welcome to say that their tastes disturb you, that is your right, but you have no right to tell them to leave. That's not how freedom of speech works.

I dunno, I could see the neuro helmet working, especially if we went wit the clanners being more furry. there neurohelmets were smaller and lighter. could be a lot like the helmet Fox McCloud wears.

Not protecting and attempting to silence someone are 2 different things. Saying that any group should not be allowed here is discrimination and therefore a violation of freedom of speech. I'm not saying you have to agree with what they do or protect them but everyone has the right to express themselves (as long as it doesn't violate the COC) without being harassed.

Bluey - that would be AWESOME to have as a logo and perhaps if you own the rights to it you might consider being kind enough to allow us to use it - or even modify it. I have an artist who does works for me and he could turn this into what another fur here has suggested - scaly paw, furry paw and human hand (thou personally I would object to the last one but that's just me)

Intimidation and verbal abuse is covered extensively by freedom of speech. Telling someone, in less nicer terms, that you don't appreciate their presence and would be happier if they weren't around is quite safe and protected. I dare you to press legal charges against someone who swears at you or tells you to go home. Good luck with that.
Conversely, muting voices in a public forum could be considered a breech of that. However, consider here that these MWO forums are private property and thus it's completely up to the host what they do or don't allow.

Intimidation and harrassment is in no way covered by Freedom of speech and is in fact illegal. If someone intimidates me, harasses me, or otherwise attempts to harm or violate my rights they are subject to the full penalty of law. And yes I am aware that this is private property (which I might point out that you don't own and can in no way dictate terms) and all speech here is governed by PGI's code of conduct, which I mentioned before, that also protects users from harassment. Care to try again?
