Well, Sailors treat their ships as "she", I treat my car as a "he", and my question is, do you make a sort of ermm genderlike bond with your mech?

Like, when your Stalker is overheating, do you go "Come on Girl, hold on a sec" or something like that?

Well, I mostly refer to them as tools, but recently, I noticed a bit more personal touch with my mech. Pity He does not drink shampagne. ;)

I tend to think of them as tools as well. That might change once we get the chance to take MWO out for a test run, as the action will be much more personal than the TT game. Time will tell.

The mech is a soulless killing machine, just like a gun or a jet, or a mechwarrior..... my kind of mechwarrior.

It will be an It until it's been in combat a few times. When I've grown attached to it it will become a she. That's just the way of things for me. The more I trust something, the more feminine it becomes <<'

She. machines (and tools) are always female for me.

Some are more female than others.

if the prophet Elvis Costello will allow:

She
May be the mech I can't forget
The trace of cannon fire I’ll regret
May be my treasure or the price I have to pay
She
May be the laser shot that stings
May be the heat that the flamer brings
May be a hundred different things
Within the measure of a sortie

She
May be the beauty or the beast
May be the quickest or the least
May turn each day into a heaven or a hell
She may be the urbie of my dreams
The particles refined into a stream
She may not be what she may seem
Inside her shell

She
Who always seems so brutal and so loud
Whose targeting data forms the cloud
No one's allowed to shoot her in the leg
She
May be the light that cannot hope to last
May be used by me from the shadows of the pass
That I'll remember till the day I die

She
May be the reason I survive
The why and wherefore I'm alive
The one I'll care for through the rough in ready years
Me
I'll make her slaughter with some beers
And take them all as souvenirs
For where she goes I've got to be
The meaning of my life is

She
She, oh she

Strange, the more feminine something becomes, the less I trust it. But then again, I dont really trust anyone or anything these days.

Voted "it". Whether its a he or she, the thought never crossed my mind until i come across this thread. I never ever regarded my Battlemechs as anything other than...a BattleMech. Yes, sometimes i grew attached to a few favorites that I use frequently but rather than it became "he" or "she", it actually becomes more like a part of me...an extension of my personality.

For me it depends on the Mech. Generally it's an it, since the machine is nearly worthless without a skilled pilot. To most Mechs it applies. But there are some Mechs that really have a personality. The Atlas always was male for me for example while the Raven always have been my little girl.

It's always been my girl. You take care of her, and she takes care of you.

Yea pretty much the same here, just depends on how they come across.

My mech takes on the gender of the name. Guan-Yu would be He, The Widow would be a She, etc. etc.

I've had my baby for dozens of years, through countless campaigns.

She ain't pretty, but we've been together so long we're partners. Like it or not.
I always look at younger, prettier models, but in the end she's the one that takes me home.

She costs a fortune to maintain, often drives me completely insane, and often leaks fluids for no apparent reason. Definitely a she.

Ohh, and we've all been screaming at our 'Mech at some point or another "C'mon you dirty b*tch!"

Never trust anything that "leaks fluids" for days at a time and doesn't die!

Many times when working as hired guns, or in distant drop areas we need to work with a lot of diferent machinery, and of course it's all "it's" just tools of the trade....

...also because... would not be nice to cheat MY girl, my own pesonal mech, when I need to work any another machine heh... only she is my girl and only she is special, all the rest it's just part of the job..

I believe Poll Item #2 needs to be edited. As it is borderline suggestive.

Come on, people, remember we have women and children on this forum.

Pfft... gamer girls would be well accustomed to comments like that as they tend to hand out with guys a lot and often get guyzoned... kids... if the kid

Remember this... and that innocents will see dolphins. If anything else is seen, well the kid's mind is already gone. Welcome to this day and age.

*Imaged removed due to Mod request. Was the image of a jug with a couple embracing, with it set so people with innocent minds see dolphins, and the adults and corrupt see the couple embracing.* I knew it was risky, but I put it on anyways. I am already on ze lists ;)

Plus... kids now a days... really Metro, you living in 1980? Society has warped kids brains too much. I remember in 2001 going home from a ex's place on my bike and I passed some 5 year old who had just dropped a pokemon card on the ground... the kid would have made a sailor blush... and that was a good area of my city.

My Mechs would all be Shes, it will be my personal harem...of death, to my foes and my bankroll. ;)
