world of tanks before colour blind mode was made, maps like this http://worldoftanks.eu/media/show/150/ made it hard for me to see the red markers abouve the enemy.
changeable colours like the chat in world of warcraft would help a lot.

maybe you need to adjust your video settings then... do not base your conclusion unless you have a well tuned monitor and video card...

darker reds and browns & greens are the same colour, just different shades of that colour.
Light and bright greens and yellow, again the same colour to me, just a different shade.
Same with purple and blue.
Now for street lights they use combinations. So red lights contain a lot more orange to them, and green lights have more blue.
So for reds try to go orangish red or pinkish. and for green a blue ish green like aqua.

I have a problem though seeing the red enemy signatures on the map display during play, if you could make them a bit brighter or give it some kind of more glowing red, this would help a lot. The blue ones are ok.
Basically i don´t care what laser beam colours i can see as long as they make a different sound, i will know which one is which.

For me (and I suspect that this differs depending on severity of the problem), I am usually able to tell the difference between bright colors but not between the richer, darker colors. For example, I have no problem with Christmas where most of the colors are bright and glossy. On the other hand, a deep forest green compared to a burgundy or a deep royal blue compared to a royal purple are damn near impossible to tell apart.
My advice to you is to choose colors which are bright or which contrast bright against dark/rich where distinctions are needed.

being very colorblind myself, I dont care about the colors of the lasers and such. I care about the game information I can get.
In MW4 you could switch the damage information screen to graphs. I would like to see that back, as I have no clue how damaged I am, or how damaged my target is. Or give the option to change the information to damage percentages.
Please make sure there are other ways instead of just colorcoding for getting ANY information in this game.

Never seen this thread before as it must have been in the back of the freezer. Its nice to see a game developer consider those of with this handicap. Thank you!
IRL I have troubles with differentiating blue-purple, darker and lighter greens are either a shade of browns or yellows, problems with red vary. IE, red traffic light is bright orange, yellow light is very pale yellow, and the green is pure white as a headlight.
This CB thing has definately presented some funny moments IRL as well as in gaming. TK's can be problem in some FPS's or I've stood there and died because I thought the other guy was a team mate (many o facepalms).
Don't worry there is a big diff between the Red and Blue PGI gave us.
In game I struggle with the red enemy target disappearing against the background (usually in heavy vegitation), missle bay doors light has zero difference, blue triangles on th MM can disappear sometimes.

Being color deficient I've found it's difficult to describe. It's not that I don't see the color - it's that I don't see it the same as someone else. This has lead to some interesting situations growing up where I couldn't tell the trash can from the compost can. It also makes the fact that my hobby is photography even stranger.
My personal suggestion is to turn colors you have selected monochrome and check that they contrast with each other. At least in my experience it's very likely that when two colors are converted to monochrome (linear transition based on luminosity) and maintain a safe contrast from each other that they will be distinct for almost all forms of color vision problems.

Snowy bright team indicator on a snowy white minimap.....
I have to open the chat box because the chat disapears, close it again, then as quickly as I can look somewhere in a dark cockpit to make out what folks say before the chat disapears again.
Mini map there is no work around im just screwed........I can see anything..... The topography hide team mates in snow maps.....hides enemy in desert maps..... If there were a switch to turn off topography to a background of differ color it might help...... I'm reluctant to say black because of I can't read the ranges.
The dark red on black background......I have to guess the range of an enemy mech.
Please save us!!!!!

Like this poor lady below......I can't tell what color eyes she has......I'm not even sure she has a head.....Its horrible!

A request to the Devs. A second light or symbol ( X, O) above the first to indicate missle doors open(O) or closed (X). Or a set of Arrows or some such (like a sliding bracket) pointing to the the aforementioned (X, O).

Yes that would help, I can tell when the armors gone.
Once a section goes yellow (armor or structure) I won't see any difference again until its cherry red about to pop. Anything inbetween I have no idea
