Victory and taunting animations would be very rad. Gladiator matches would benifit so much from this if they include them. I would pay $2 for my mech to do a little river stomp.

Paint and camoflages in general would be cool. They could have basic functional camos, but the really neat ones can be charged I would pay for having my mech decked out in gold ^^.

Agreed, I'd definently pay to "teabag" a downed Mech and yeah there are so many unit specific camo schemes they could make a decent chunck of change.

Also if Clan or IS, if you want to use a cannon, variation of a certain mech/omni so be it but if you want to play a customized variant you would have to pay for the mod, everytime, this could possibly degate some of the min/maxing as it would take cost you to try out what could be a failed combination.

I would pay for.....

Missions/content

New mechs

New gear

Places you can go outside your mech, AKA social areas, or even town/city locations, like to get new quests.. (aka Bonus content)

custom looks

Custom load outs

guild bases/storage depo's

guild creation..

new planets to explore/fight/battle over..

Now im sure there will be tons of people say... THATS PAYING TO WIN!!... Sorry, chaps, not as all as long as you can earn the stuff ingame by playing, Just like the turbine model for DDO.. you can play anything in that game if you just spend time. To me free to play, doesnt mean i should just get everything or go anywhere from the start, all for nothing.. It might take you a bit longer to get that decked out mech for free, but as long as you can, then i have ZERO problem with them letting you pay for unlocks. And honestly, thats not paying to win, its just speeding unlocking along. Sorta like if some guy goes and spends 400 hours playing and unlocking, they are gonna be much father ahead of someone that plays 10 hours. I dont have any issue with that. Especially if they let you unlock for small fee's

I really dont understand how people expect giant games, and worlds to be produced, and have it all as free to play option

I also really hope this has none of the typical MMO lvl grind ****.. But i wouldnt mind Go on missions, unlocking tougher missions, new mechs, ext, Especially if a skilled pilot can use things like say a light mech, and still be able to play the content. going and grinding lvls for more powe something entirely different. If you have an LRM, its an LRM.. there shouldnt be lvl 50 lrms, and lvl 1 lrms that do 5% of the damge like so many other MMO's

I can't wait for this game.. I've been waiting for 10 years for a new version, and really been wanting to play any mech game sence i fried my old drive on my old win 2k comp, can't get the old school game running on my new computer.. guess i have to wait a little bit longer

I'd pay for mech designs that were cosmetic. In Star Trek online for example you can buy ships that look different, but have the exact same stats as one you get in game. So you are buying a mech, but it just looks like a different model.

Yeah, This could be a way to pull off certain "fluff" variants like the Mad Dog "mk II" from MW4 that wound up being written into the TRO updates. Also this could possibly be used to Shut Up Harmony Gold, Say for instance the relooks of the classic designs are availible Maruader, Warhammer, etc. but for those willing to pay you could get the "classic" skin, and the money would actually go to HG.... just a thought. I'd pay $5 or so a piece to actually have the lawsuite mechs.

This, however, isn't star trek.

Different model means different combat behaviour. Which reflects on tactical advantage (or disadvantage) directly.

P.S.: I still think MW4 redesigns (Vulture, for example) look better than classics.

Shut Up Harmony Gold

Last I heard Harmony Gold had been rather forcefully reminded that they do NOT own the Macross IP (by the Japanese companies that do), their license is very specific both in nature and the region it is active in. They'd even lost a court case similar to the one that led to the Unseen mech's vanishing. All signs were pointing towards the Unseen being able to stomp freely and that the Japanese rights holders were as irked as we are about how Harmony Gold represents their IP.

So what's changed?

It would be kinda cool to be able to change the voice of your mechs computer too. Kind of like you can with the Tom Tom devices. Starts of with a stuffy American woman's voice, but if that aint your cup of tea, then change to a cheery sounding English girl, or whatever.

You're right about that, using dedicated TS or Vent servers didn't even cross my mind.

I still think that something like that could work; set a high enough price and the number of people using them would be low enough that the rest of the player base wouldn't be at a disadvantage. But okay, I see where you're coming from. Another idea I'd had was to make it easier/less expensive to refit a Battlemech to an upgraded variant if you had spent enough time piloting it (earning exp, maxed 'Mech skill points, whatever). That would still create an advantage, but it wouldn't be based on money.

The same thing here maybe. You have to work on certain skills/abilities to be able to use special ammo.

I didn't mean to make it seem that it should be impossible to change the color of your 'Mech without money. A large number of simple color schemes could be purchased with in-game currency, and a similar C-Bill fee could be incurred to use Unit paint schemes and badges that were approved by Moderators. But if you wanted to do something a little less practical like draw a mural of a Classical Art/Battletech crossover on the back of your 'Mech, you might be willing to pay for it.

***. You know what you've done? YOU KNOW WHAT YOU MADE ME DO VORTIGERN?!
see the ruin you have caused

Ah, I didn't really think of mural type art, except as part of the insignia.

I was thinking more along the lines of Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War where you change the color of various parts (hopefully it would be a bit more than in that game).

The underlined... you kind of contradicted yourself. If you purchase a mech with money, than you haven't earned it by playing the game, you've payed to not play the game.

I was thinking more along the lines of Optimus Prime's voice. "Warriors of House Marik...ROLLOUT!!!" except without the rolling part... :)

I'd pay for when my mech passes a "Mr. Donut", the donut ring sign get's caught on my mech's PPC, stays there for the duration of the battle, barring being knocked down or obviously destroyed, and then once back in the mech bay, seeing the technicians pulling the donut ring off with puzzled looks on their faces...

- I would pay for exclusive set of mechs: dont know maybe a handful, the battletech universe is full of them and am pretty sure most of them wont be included upon release.
- sets of weapons. though if there is a chance to play my way to them I will.

-hmmm...I thought I would be able to think of more stuff but nope.

How about pay for player stat enabling? If you pay, you can see the kill record of yourself and anyone else in the game...otherwise, you just take 'em as they come.

Every item on my list is of the non-tactical advantage type, designed to make things less frustrating and more fun.
  • Extra paint jobs
  • Decals
  • Storage
  • Mech bays
  • "Alternate" models for some mechs. Same mech you can earn, but a different look.
  • Cosmetic stuff for my pilot. (If I want to dye my hair purple, wear an eyepatch and a bomber jacket, I'm willing to spend 5 bucks to do it.)
  • Items for the cockpit (dice, bobbleheads)
  • Things you can strap to your mech cosmetically (giant speakers come to mind. Yes. Its canon. She would blast old time rock and roll into battle(Elvis especially). And she really did paint her mech pink.) Maybe other items if people have ideas.

Mechs and Weapons.

Make them, and I will buy them. I need a full stable.

I do not need decals, perks, any of that.

I have a feeling you will make me buy CBills, and then I use that to buy Mechs.

I hope XP... confers no battle bonus.
