Yes, shame on me for being pragmatic.

What I'm purposing is that people can pay real cash to have ACCESS to new items about 1 week earlier than non-paying players. They won't just 'get' the item with that money, they still need to earn it through in-game EXP or C-bills, or whatever. This is a way to coax people into giving money for something that will essentially be free a week later.

Also, I imagine with the influx of new equipment that shows up around 3050 that this would bankrupt most players if they opted to purchase every piece of equipment 1 week earlier than everyone else.

Negative on this suggestion, even if it's a short term advantage, I don't think any content that provides an advantage should be available early or only to paying players. Frankly, I'll be a paying player myself as I have a business and very little game time.

What I 'would' pay money for would be:

1) Storyline, single and coop player content similar to what they suggested in their first non-mmo/prototype interviews. It would need to be good, realistic and engaging, but would gladly pay $30-40 or more to play through some of the books I've read etc...
2) Mech Pack - Not anything out of period, or game balance, but the ability to have different mechs. The devs will need incentive to spend the time developing and this gives them that incentive.
3) Clan Lottery - When the clans eventually invade, depending on how they structure it, I'm worried that too many players will switch. Similar to Jedi/Sith in the Star Wars games and such. If they make it a one time cost, or lottery, it may limit the migration. However, I don't think I'd pay for it, too much of a FS to switch.
4) Customization of character, mechs looks etc...
5) Additional mech bay slots, storage.

Note on #2, I don't want that to be Pay 2 Win either. I AM looking forward to the shock the clan invasion will cause. I am NOT looking forward to the mass exodus from IS to Clan just to get the best mech equipment etc... Not sure how they'll do it, just suggesting a lottery with so many slots available for those that truly want to play outnumbered but not outgunned via a lottery maybe?

I'm not sure if your post has been challenged, but I'll address this. Super cool idea and I think it would be awesome. Clan Tech, provided it is only mesh, (3D model), and Mech appearance changes, is a cool idea. I'd pay for this. No expectation of creating a blueprint for a light mech and having the Devs model it, but it might be cool if some sort of Clan customization was available.

Also, if you could change up certain aspects of the mech design, such as power available, armor density and effectiveness, speed, etc... with a drawback that cost as much as the change gave, this would be cool too. Doesn't imbalance the game so much as add some mystery to those unknown mechs until you've tangled with a few.

Model changes could be implemented in a similar fashion to many character generators. Pick a body style and structure, then apply morphs to individual components. If you have multiple components to choose from in building the mech, you could piece together a clan mech from them and morph the models until you got the look you want and then save it. This could be a paid feature.

Nothing pay2win about that as far as I'm concerned. The other is good too, provided it doesn't allow significant advantage to be gained in any one area and couples it with an equal drawback using a sliding scale system and points that have to be balanced out with a maximum deviation of +1 or -1. So theoretically, it could be improved but the change would be neglidgeable at best. It would also have to follow certain parameters based on the design and components of the mech.

Clan tech won't be available until after the invasion. It should never be pay for as that is pay to win. As to custom mechs, you'll be able to shift/upgrade stats in the MechLab to the extent that mech is capable and the technology of the time. There are tons of mechs and even variations of those mechs, there's no need to have something no one has ever seen as that isn't cannon in the least.

my suggestion is to have some way during combat to just click on the list of names and send someone a few gold pieces or even just one.
what i mean by gold is that there are credits you earn in the game, commonly called silver, and there are the gold pieces you buy with real world cash.

since world of tanks has been mentioned, i'll use them as an example.

rarely in the random battles i have seen someone pull off some amazing stunt that seems worth a reward, yet is not in the realm of what the automatic payoff system would allow extra credit for because the computer wasn't looking for such things.

some guys runs into the opposing teams starting area and runs in zig-zag patterns in a small tank for several seconds, runs back to home base, and then makes the run again allowing his teams SPG's to see and kill several of the enemy.
i wish he had been on my team.
anyway, even though i was on the enemy team i would love to have been able to click on his name on the list during the battle and send him a gold piece or maybe up to 5 for the terrific performance.
even if all i could send was 1 gold, it would be a nice way to acknowledge some specific act that was worth note and completely "outside the box".

sure he would probably get a scout medal and credits for all the spotted tanks, but for the sidesplitting laughter i enjoyed he got nothing.

there may be some way to abuse this, but if the donation amount was kept very low it seems it would be difficult to find a way to abuse it.

i am thinking of something that could be done only in battle or during the viewing of the battle results screen immediately after the battle.
this is assuming that the structure and timing of things will be similar to how it is in world of tanks.

even if there is a way to transfer gold between players when out of battle, and i actually hope there will NOT be, this could be a way for players in that specific battle, even from the opposing team to say "well done" without introducing some game breaking mechanic.

~ 3D Mech bay I can walk around in - Obviously something aways into the future of MWO, but I think it would be cool. Also, I suppose a personal avatar, (human body), would be required to walk around in it, though I'd be happy if my PoV were just a floating camera.

This would also apply to Mechlab and could come in different environments. Say a personal hangar with 4 Mech bays, or a larger, (more expensive), one with 6-7 mech bays. Theoretically, if you were willing to pay for it you could have either more than one of these, or as many as 15 Mech bays in one large hangar.

As I said, a ways in the future and dependent on the success of MWO and player interest.

~ Practice area - Somewhere to take your Mech out for a stroll. Could be a concrete yard with some obstacles and targets or a mountainside that provided the same.

~ Scrapyard - Don't like that mech anymore? ..getting a bit old and suffering from signs of wear? Then this scrapyard is for you. Whatever old mechs or parts you throw in it can be used to reduce the cost of rebuilding your current mechs after they sustain damage in battles. Also, if you fight for pink slips, you can throw your enemies old mech in here. :)

1 - I've mentioned this in another location already but I would pay something close to standard game prices for fresh rewrites of old MW games with Co-Op, provided my PVE gaming (in these games) was kept completely seperate from my MWO gaming (I don't earn cash, exp, anything of value that transfers over... Maybe a carebear badge for the mech could be unlocked, or a rattle so I can show off how awesome I am at shooting bots)

2 - Turnsignals - Landraider's have them, and they're grim dark

I'm sure it's been said but access to a bar, and a cutomizable pilot would make me happy. I'd love to exit my mech, walk to a bar, and just hang out.

i think just general visual features would be nice. i dont want people to be able to buy power or such. then they might as well make it pay2play.

but whether it was p2p or f2p with the option of buying power, i would pay to play it.

heck id pay without getting anything.

buying power just isn't fair for anyone.

I would pay for missiles that make a really shrill screeeeech sound instead of a woosh.

I want it to sound like a pack of raptors are bearing down on you.

Guild/merc corp decals

Basically it would work like this a guild or merc corp leader submits a set of decals (like say a company decal and lance decals). The cost of this would be appropriate to having the items QC'd and approved by the devs.

After that all members of the guild/merc corp (and only them) can buy in the store those decals. Those decals would only be avalible to someone as long as they are part of that organization.

While the initial cost may be expensive say $200 (plus the cost to actually buy them) if spread in a guild/merc corpt the individual cost would be a couple bucks to have it made and a couple bucks to buy it.

I would pay for;

Custom Paint schemes and logos
The ability to register our own base planet (House)
A House Dropship with shared resources to be used by your house (money, equipment, etc.)
Entrance in a Solaris tournament or tournament play for c-bills and prizes
a Vulture (Maddog)

Oh and if my Mech could transform into a Camaro id pay for that too... I know it’s not cannon but it’s still freaking cool.

I'd play to be able to import pictures of my (wife, dog, favorite meme, other less savory things) into the game and stick them in the cockpit somewhere as photos. I don't know why, because I'd be the only person who'd ever sees them, but yeah, I would pay for that.

Clan tech. A Madcat. Thunderbolt missiles. SSRMs. Light Gauss Rifle. Mech bays. As some have mentioned, cockpit trash, bobbleheads, hula girl, etc., although this is a secondary consideration.

I'd probably pay for more "mech bay space" meaning I could "own" more than 1 battlemech at a time. Just like how other MMO's have character slots

id pay lots of money two house more mechs, i plan on investing a lot of time in this game once it comes out, and id like to have a wide spread hanger bay, for scouts to heaveies...

These are probably non-controversial, and could be a way for people to show off.

1. Titles of nobility -- not really anything that impacts on gameplay, but a nice perk to have your character Baron so and so. I remember they were in the original pen and paper Mechwarrior. They came with an income too, so people buying them could get a regular allowance of C-bills from their properties back on their homeworld.

2. Special skins -- alternate cosmetic changes to mechs that don't change performance. Perhaps special paint jobs, different heads/arms/legs. It could be cool to have a mech that looks like it was patched together from scrap after hundreds of battles. Or perhaps a parade paint job for the various Houses.

3. Trueborn or freeborn status. Assuming the Clans are playable at some point, allow people to buy one of statuses in clan society. I don't know which would make more sense to be the default for players. If everyone in the free game starts as trueborn, let people buy freeborn status for an extra challenge.

These might **** some people off, but they are things people would pay for even if they don't like it.

1. Some mech chassis or variants -- not anything that's actually better than the free mechs, just make some designs pay only. Similar to how some games might make some character races purchasable.

2. Factions -- allow people to buy membership into some factions, such as famous NPC merc units, periphery kingdoms, etc. Or when the Clans show up in a year or so, make Clan characters purchasable.
