Sounds the devs found a great compromise. There had been cries of "no respawn!" and of course others who wanted at least one gametype where everyone could respawn. What I like most is that, no matter which gametype is played, neither team can win through a war of attrition by throwing bodies at a strongpoint till someone finally breaks through (which, as much as I love FPSs, tends to happen in infinite-respawn games). Both sides have to think about 'Mech choice and tactics at all times.
EDIT: for typo

What were you expecting from the mechlab?
When the lasers were being fired, and the 'Mech twisted or moved, it left a series of after-effects, which I feel make them look, as I said, odd, almost as if the laser was firing repeatedly and leaving trails from multiple beams.
As for the MechLab, I'm greatly concerned about the amount of customization there will be.

Hopefully they are doing a proper critical + hardpoint hybrid setup.
So that no one can boat 4 ERPPCs and go with 30 DHS without any concerns.

I think the lasers moving with the sway of the Atlas looked fantastic personally, I didn't really see after effects it looked more like he fired a salvo and then fired another salvo.
Mechlab sounds like it'll be just like previous mechwarrior games, I can understand you want customization but swapping out arms and cockpits isn't what mechwarrior has ever been about. From what he said it sounds like they'll have variants like in MWLL, so say you have an Atlas he might have a ballistic slot on one arm and a laser slot on the other arm or Atlas B will have Lasers on both arms etc. and you can then swap out those lasers/ballistic weapons/missile slots with an array of different types of weaponry, bombast lasers, PPC, gauss rifles etc.

Where do I send my entire life's savings?
Also, going to follow the trend of posts and say I'm very pleased with the lasers.

I hope there is a critical system along with hard point restrictions. Like the Atlas has a 7 critical Missile hardpoint on it's left Torso and a 10 Critical Ballistic hardpoint in the RT. You can put any weapon that fits the critical slot there.
However equipment like DHS, ECM, AMS etc are free from hardpoint restrictions, but WILL still take up critical space.

Was this "critical system" in MW4? I barely got to play MW3 back in the day so I don't have much experience with previous MW titles if you don't mind explaining further.
