Why why why do people complain so much.

(Talking about the video of course))

So yea watching this scares me, because like him I was a complete noob when I first started, I had no idea about the mechs game play and how it all worked and I was frustrated.

BUT

After getting my *** handed to me a couple of times I buckled down, read the forums and armed myself with some knowledge (with minimal effort mind you since this community is rich with documentation).

My fear is that most new people are going to get in game, get their butts handed to them, then search videos and then find this guy's terrible terrible video and not even put in the minimal amount of effort it takes to learn and be good at the game.

Short Version: Lets delete this guy's video from the interwebs so he doesn't infect the minds of the weak.

You clearly either have some sort of agenda against MWO, or you're just a dumbass. Either way, ****, because no. I dont want a password autosaved, because I autosave nothing anywhere, and use a secure program to log me in. If its taking you several hundred games to get a mech in this current iteration of Closed Beta, you're just lousy - I have about 200 games according to my stats, all pub non-pug, and I have 3 fully customized mechs (Commando, Hunchback and Dragon). If you needed several hundred games back when they were giving out in-game money, maybe you should try your hand at something more geared for your level of game play - like Pong.

Not bothering with the rest - you're clearly too stupid to review this game.

Out of curiosity, are you in the beta? Did you not know the mechs you can use when you start cannot be customized?

There is no 'total' customization, ie can't increase engine size or freely choose weapons, but there is more than what you would find in MW4. Pretty much as long as you have the proper hard point and enough crit space, and tonnage available you have a free reign.

I would say it depends on how you define customization.

As others have said the weapons are limited to hardpoints.
You have 3 hardpoint types

Energy
Ballistic
Missile

What you can do with your mech is you can add/remove the following:

Weapons, limited by hardpoint numbers and types, as well as available tonnage
Engine, limited by available tonnage.
Armor, with a max limit depending on mech type and available tonnage
Accessories such as Jumpjets, ECM, BAP.

If thats not customization I dont know what is, but you cannot customize the mech any way you want there are limits to what you can do.

It almost sounds to me like the guy in the video is running a Trail mech.
If he is running a trial mech then its understandable he would think so, because the trail mechs cannot be customized.
You have to buy a mech, either with C-bills or MC, to be able to customize it

You can't change the look of your mech, no camo options no badges (as yet) but there is no customisation in MWO, in that sense, you can change your weapon load outs, so in that sense there is a limited customisation.

password save in my opinion is dumb, but other want it.

I still have very deep personal concerns over MWO, I think it was still way to soon to be offering founders packages, there are still some deep seated issues with this platform that I'm not sure will ever be corrected, the whole project, seems shakey, and on a shoe string budget, hence why I think the founders packages were set up so early..

Some of the statments the devs have made about a game like this is very rarely finnished, just seem to be a weak justification for setting this game out as an open beta way to early.

I think that if there isn't some big advances in the features and game play in the next 4 months the whole project will crash and burn.

That said i'd like it to work and keep comming back to try out new things and hoping my concerns are not justified

Sorry, but the devs had already come out and said "We couldn't find a publisher, so did it ourselves on a shoestring budget"

I wish people would actually read some stuff the engage the old brain mouth filter thing. Makes me question ifr the game has any issues at all, and its just played by a bunch of self entitled dumb a$$e$.

Hey, it's the classic "get out of saying something stupid free" card! When you use sarcasm to make fun of someone for posting a review, but it isn't actually a review, you can't get out of it by noting you used sarcasm. Not that there was actual sarcasm anywhere in your post anyway.

An impression can be a form of a review, quite frequently people use "first impression" gameplay videos as reviews. While impression generally does not mean review it can be one, and in this case it comes off as one.

You have "he has a valid point", "the game needs to improve in this area" (retaining new players)

And then you have the "his opinion isn't valid because he is a noob", "people who publicly say this game is anything but great should be silenced" or "go back to CoD" that's a classic
