What really got me here was he kept referring to it as if it were complete. Yes he did mention it was a closed beta several times. The fact that he recorded this Pre-NDA drop got me but what really stuck the nail deeper was that his demeanor was to thrash the game as it was and not mention that the game may be COMPLETELY different by the time 1.0 comes.

This is one of those people that are judging the game before it is even completed. the fact that he feels that the game should be wiped from existence because they dont have a save password feature yet is really stupid. This game is still in BETA ist being worked on.

Obviously recorded before the last economy patch... 45- to 250 matches to afford the lightest of mechs? lol

It should be a rule that you have to be able to actually play video games in order to review them.

This deserves to be on every page in this thread

I'm tired of stupid people doing reviews when they have no review experience or don't even bother to do RESEARCH!

Wait for the game to go live before you make a review. It’s still in beta and changing for balance.

This guy said that there's "no customization". What!?!?!?

Ray Romano plays MechWarirrorOnline

on hat note ****, its not hard to use the mechs and grind money with the trail mechs they guy sounds like he just wants instant gratification, if that's the case then he should just go back to CoD.

Personally i love that things are expensive, means you have to work for it or if you get sick of it then pay for it, that's up to you but having the best mech or weapons does not mean you'll dominate the battlefield. It's very satisfying when you're able to afford the gauss rifle, or that new mech variant

I can't even understand why someone is doing this kind of review before the game is open beta, many things can change.

You know... I keep seeing people saying things like this. All of them Founders I've noted. I wonder how much you would bash the video-maker if you didn't have the inherent bonuses of having a premium account and Founders 'Mechs.

Not that I agree with the hyperbole that the video-maker engages in, but he does make a few good points.

Umm...
I'm a newb, and I'd like to weigh in with all you experienced/hardcore types.

I used to love playing the original games "Back in the day", and was actually quite exited to hear about this game. Sadly, being in Beta, it's pretty much for me, the same as it is for him. Although I have a good memory of how it goes, I don't have a training area to start in, so my very first game in, I tried shooting off into the distance, and nailed a teammate. (I promptly got labeled a 'TeamKiller', and torn apart)
Since then, I've been just cannon fodder, with no real help/suggestions to improve.
It took me almost an hour of poking around to find the list of controls outside of the option menu, and luckily, I have previous history, cause to one of my friends trying to play, it's frustrating to understand/learn in a live-fire area, where others are dependant upon you actually doing something, not standing there trying to figure out how to control the mech.
(sadly, I STILL haven't figured out how to load the weapons under different firing groups)
Even your "Newbies-Start here" section has no real easy to find links for even the most basic things.
Sorry, but hey, that's the reality of it. So far, I have NOT been able to do anything, with anything, but wade in, and get blown apart.
I'm sure I'll stick with it, but I can see where it will be VERY daunting to someone with no prior experience...

I know we're still in Beta, and I know I'm probably asking this in the wrong area, and even more, I'm pretty sure someone had to make this suggestion previously, but could you open a little 'learn your mech' training area, to putz around in,
AND..
An up front list of how the points program works, so that us newbs can figure out just how many games we have to play to buy something?
(I don't see me getting ANY xp, and not sure how the cbills/money situation works.)

Anyways, I hope this helps clarify some of his points, and maybe opens up some discussions, and maybe, gives us newbs some slack when we get the team wiped out, cause we walked into the middle of a trap, and got taken out in our Atlas, without firing one painful round...

I think its coincidence. I am a founder (my other account) and honestly after playing for two weeks I have more mechs than I need. Sure I bought the first with MC, and I had a founders hunchback (which I barely used) but it wasn't hard to get c-bills. A lot players don't play the worse F2P games where the grind is absolute madness. In prospective I can name at least one game where it would take YEARS of continuous play to get an item without cash. If it takes a while, then grind it. But remember, once you have it, its yours. There's no duration, there's no depreciation making you sink money into it to keep it. You're done. Plus those of us that do spend money to bypass this need to feel its worth the money to do so. If you can just earn in a day what I paid 20 bucks for that would devalue my purchase and make me rethink whether or not its worth the money. So the grind should be lengthy because of these reasons IMO.

Plus: One of the key factors people keep glossing over, is that a most new people wouldn't have the sufficient experience to to start making good configs right off the bat. So forcing some field time kinda gives that experience. Its my opinion at least.

I think you had some bad luck bro, and im sry for it. Some asks "how do i set my wep groups" I usually see 2 other responders next to mine seconds later.

But honestly all of your points can be sumed up with "needs training area/tutorial". Even a link to the newbie forum thread would be an improvement.

At PO :
Yea nice Troll post.
Giving outdated information and simply false asumptions is what this game needs.
Hope you had at least the decency not to post this outside of the MWO forum.

All his complaints are just on the Beta. Really I do wish the NDA was still enforced at times because economy and the trial system are NOT set in stone. This might give a wrong impression to a new player.

So a random person on the internet does a bland impression video of MWO that clearly looks like it was based of a few patches prior to the NDA being lifted and he has no skill or desire to play the game. Well I guess thats the internet for you.

At first I have to say an adjustable (environmentals) shooting range would be a good thing.
To your complains about how you couldn't find hints how the game is to be played I feel realy no sympathy, sorry but NO.
I started playing the beta around a month ago and the first thing I did before I even started to download was doing research.
Around 2 h for getting closer to the game.
Since this is not Super Mario I thought I should give it a very careful look because it may be somewhat more complicated to get around in a mech than piloting a Gameboy.
MW Battletech IS NOT a casual game and it shouldn't be one.
Click ALL links provided on the Beta wellcome Page that were given when you push download and go to the welcome to beta page.
When you're clicking on the Button 'Forums' top of this site (and mit this I mean RIGHT ON TOP OF HERE) the opening window shows you BETA. Click on it. The third slot fom the top shows you BETA GUIDES.....on of them reads controls. Read them.... twice... and take a copy for your desktop. Also take copys of the mech layouts you like and make some plans how you think you would like to play.
Hint do reality checks. Playing sniper with slow puter and wacky mouse isn't fun. Do researches about the Mechs. Everyone has weak spots. Brawling in a Catapult isn't fun if your enemy has more than 3 working brain cells. Catapult has a easy to hit Cockpit.
And never never ever stay still in a direct firefight. Turn your torso shoot turn again. Distribute the enemys fire, stay out of friends line of sight. DONT try to start playing in an Assault Mech. Take a medium. Train exact moving, stopping, turning. NEVER stray. If you have an Assault take a medium with you. If you are medium walk behind an Assault teammate. NEVER shoot without seeing an enemy or at least say youre testing weapons if it is inevitable.
So far the bottom down basics. READ READ READ invest TIME. Be very very patient in game. Never push a kill you get trapped.

As it is, the game is not newbie friendly. I sure hope the developers are aware of this and have a solution soon. Best before open Beta or I fear the forums will be filled with rage.

Some suggestions:

- Trial mechs need a better, less heat-intensive loadout and pre-set weapon groups.

- A trial and test map is required that is accessible at will with any available mech. All variations, before having to purchase it. Including a combat tutorial.

- Key map needs to be accessible during the match. At least for display.

- Weapon grouping from mech bay (supposed to be coming) and test drive for configurations before having to buy everything.

I really like the game and it really pains me when I hear people not finding access to it due to the massive shortcomings in usability.
